Chapter 6:
I Summoned as a Hero?! But I’m Actually the Demon King!
In the village of Terraine, the atmosphere was suffocating. Layla and I walked between empty houses, her sword held tight. I, Seraphine, in a white sacred dress, clutched my staff. We were heroes, but here, we were just scared girls.
Dozens of undead creatures emerged from the mist. I tried my purification spell, but they just stood there. "No... why isn't it working?!" I sobbed.
The battle erupted. Layla fought bravely, her high reflexes making her agile, but she was overwhelmed. Just when we thought it was over, the ground trembled and four giant Golems appeared.
"Four at once?! This is impossible!" Layla screamed.
I gathered the last of my mana. My body trembled, but I had to help. I activated a power-enhancing spell for her. "Layla... I'm sorry... this is all I can do..."
In the midst of the battle, Igor, the Necromancer, appeared on a Golem clad in black armor. "You're no match for my Golems, humans," his voice was heavy and mocking. "My name is... Igor, the eternal Necromancer of the Third Gate of Darkness."
Layla scoffed, "We'll see about that, old man. I'll shave that beard of yours until it's as smooth as a baby's!" However, the armored Golem was too strong. Layla was starting to run out of energy, and I fell to my knees, my face pale.
"Please... you... run to the Capital. Find... Master Kafka. Tell her... we need help... now..." I whispered to one of the remaining knights. The knight nodded and ran.
Layla stood with a trembling body, sword in hand, ready to fight to the end. I hugged my staff tightly. The battle was not over. Hell had just begun.
