Yami Kanzaki, a sixteen-year-old high school kid, is the type of person who likes to stay in his room all day playing games and watching TV, rarely going outside. But today was important. Today, the new game in his favorite series released. As he got up from his gaming chair to leave his room — filled with games on the wall, dusty shelves, and a very messy bed — he started to wonder when the store opened. Guess I should probably look it up.When he pulled out his phone and pressed the button to turn it on — nothing — absolutely nothing happened. I know I charged it overnight. I literally just unplugged it from its cable. Is it broken?Right as he gave up trying to turn it on, he looked to his gaming setup — it had turned off too. Then all the LED lights in his room shut off."Hey, Mom! Is that you?" shouted Yami.— No response.Something's wrong... she should be here right now. Did she go on an errand and the power ran out? That wouldn't explain why my phone didn't charge though...As all these things were running through his head, a yellow light appeared around him. He looked down and noticed a glowing yellow circle slowly increasing in size.What the hell... why can't I move?!Yami, frozen in place, started to panic. Not knowing what was happening, he began wondering if it was a dream — but the circle kept growing until the diameter was twice that of his body.It stopped... why did it sto—A beam of light shot out of the circle going upward, and the glowing circle started spinning — slowly at first, but then faster and faster — until...Yami was in what appeared to be a throne room."Where am I?" Yami said aloud. He looked around and noticed three other people: two girls his age and one guy, most likely a year or two older."You four have been summoned here from another world to defeat the Shadow Wraith," shouted a priest."What the hell is a Shadow Wraith?" asked one of the girls.The man sitting on the throne — who appeared to be the king — stood up, grabbed his staff, and shouted loudly for all in the throne room to hear:"The Shadow Wraith is an evil of ancient past, written in our scriptures. An evil so mighty, it plunged the world into chaos thousands of years ago — until four heroes from a distant land sealed the monster away and ended its reign of terror. But we fear it has broken free."How would they know it broke free, though...?"Guy with a crown, what makes you think it broke free?" asked Yami."You will not refer to our king as 'Guy with a crown'!" shouted a knight captain."It's fine, Ren," the king said. "The Shadow Wraith was sealed away in a tomb far away, with the location wiped from every text known to the world. But explorers recently found it — and foolishly opened it, hoping for treasure — but found nothing. This leads us to believe the seal was broken, and he’s planning to attack soon. We have summoned you four, just as long ago, four were summoned to fight the very same evil.""You four, follow me. We will go see what magic each of you has," said the knight.As they followed the knight captain, they walked through hallways larger than any Yami had ever seen in his average life. Red carpets, marble pillars, bright tinted windows — even those knight statues you'd find in haunted mansions.As they turned left, they entered a room — a room with a floating crystal in the middle."One by one, each of you will put one hand on this. The crystal will then fill up with the magic that you have," said the knight.As the first girl put her hand on the crystal, it appeared to be pulling magic power from her hand, and then the crystal filled up with vines."You have nature magic. With training, it can prove very useful in combat," said the knight.Then the second girl put her hand on the crystal, and this time it filled with ice."You have ice magic — a very versatile magic. With training, you can create almost anything with ice. You will most likely be one of the strongest on the battlefield," said the knight."WOO! It's my turn, time to see what I get!" said the other guy.As he put his hand on the crystal, it filled with electricity."You have electric magic — overall one of the strongest magics," said the knight."HELL YEAH!" replied the guy.It's my turn... time to see what I get...As Yami put his hand on the crystal, it filled with a dark color. A silence filled the room."It... it can't be. You have shadow magic... the magic of the Wraith," said the knight captain.
