Chapter 10:
I Summoned as a Hero?! But I’m Actually the Demon King!
Kafka nodded. "Yes, you are indeed strange. I admit I lost, Hero, but I don't fully believe in you yet."
"I am the Demon King!" I said, my tone deep and loud. In my anger, I unleashed a part of my true power. A dark aura began to dominate the surroundings. The clear sky instantly turned cloudy and dark. A violent tremor shook the ground, creating a mild earthquake followed by a strong wind that shattered the remaining windows. All the residents were very surprised, even thinking there was a natural disaster. In the distance, Seraphine and Layla, who felt the extraordinary mana wave, looked panicked.
Kafka, seeing this, was shocked. There was another Demon King who had appeared? She thought that she and the people in the city would be annihilated. She resigned herself, but then I quickly stopped the power surge, controlling myself before everything was truly destroyed.
"Almost... completely out of control," I muttered, relieved that I could control it.
Kafka looked at me, scared and confused. Was I really the Demon King or a Hero?
Just then, six small children from the village of Terraine ran towards me.
"Mr. Hero! Mr. Hero! We're scared! There was a strange tremor just like in our village! Please protect us!" they shouted. Other children also appeared, clasping their hands and praying to me, asking for protection from the tremors and strong winds.
"Hey, calm down! The person who did it has been defeated! He's already dead and turned to ash," I replied, my face showing a sincere smile that Kafka had never seen.
"Is he really a Demon King? Why is he so friendly to those children, unlike Oberon who was so cruel to human children and even babies," Kafka muttered, still confused and surprised.
Just then, Seraphine and Layla appeared, apparently they were looking for the source of the extraordinary magical energy.
"Leon? Are you okay?" Seraphine asked, her face worried.
"Yes, I'm fine," I replied.
"Aree? Kafka-sensei, why are you here? Did you just fight someone?" Seraphine asked.
"Don't worry, Seraphine. This friend of yours... well, not exactly. But this hero of yours, he's the one who defeated that creature," Kafka replied, her tone still ambiguous.
"Damn, I'm late again! You're really lucky, Leon!" Layla said, annoyed.
"Oh yeah, Mr. Hero, or Leon... there's something I want to talk to you about later. Meet me in the city square," Kafka said.
"Could it be that you two are going on a date?" Layla teased.
"Of course not! How could I possibly go on a date with a person who almost killed me just now! Her magic is very strong if she's serious," I said.
Seraphine, who heard that, felt curious and a little jealous, and started to wonder what had really happened.
