Chapter 11:
I Summoned as a Hero?! But I’m Actually the Demon King!
After that, I went to the city square, as I had promised to meet Kafka.
"Oh, it seems you've arrived, Leon. I thought you were someone who didn't like to keep promises," Kafka greeted me as I approached.
I just stayed silent, then said, "What is it you want to talk to me about, Kafka?"
"I want to get straight to the point. What is your purpose in protecting humans? And what is your reason for hiding all of this from your friends, including my student, Seraphine?"
I sighed. "From the very beginning when I arrived in this world, I wanted to destroy you all because of an old grudge from my world."
Kafka was shocked. "Your world... so you're really from another world? That means we made a big mistake summoning you here."
"No. You're not entirely wrong and right. When I arrived in this world, I felt something in me that had to change. Could I become someone else? I tried slowly. But beneath that, there was a desire to destroy all of you along with the Demon King in this world you call Oberon, wasn't there?"
Kafka was silent, listening to my confession.
"I believe you can change for the better," she said. "After seeing what you did to those children, and that smile you have that Oberon doesn't have at all... what's the difference between you and him, if I may ask?"
"The difference is that he and I are very different. In my world, I still spare weak humans and children. They are not a threat to me at all. The real threat is from the Priests and Heroes who harbor hatred for one another. I'm sure, since I left that world, a war among themselves is taking place."
"Don't you miss your old world, Leon?" Kafka asked gently.
"Of course not anymore. I'm fed up with being a Tyrant King and always being chased and slandered as a murderer by that Hero."
"My message to you, Leon, is don't give up. Keep fighting and be the light of hope for humanity, and keep living and protecting the dreams of others," Kafka said, which made me fall silent.
I strengthened my resolve, even though the desire to destroy humanity kept whispering in my ear. Then, I explained my suspicion about the traitor.
"So you think I'm the traitor?" Kafka asked with a satisfied laugh.
"How could that be? How could I send my foolish and clumsy student to a dangerous village like that? It's clear that there must be a traitor in the Church," Kafka said, her tone changing from laughter to seriousness.
"Oh yeah, before that, you two can come out!" Kafka said.
Suddenly, Seraphine and Layla fell from behind a pillar. Both of them were shocked.
"You two! Since when have you been here? Did you hear everything?" I asked.
"Yes, of course they heard everything from the beginning. I was already aware of your magical energy, Seraphine and Layla," Kafka replied.
"So it's true, Leon... you're not a Hero? You've been the Demon King all this time?" Seraphine asked, her voice a little annoyed and demanding an explanation.
"Yes, of course. I'm sorry I lied to all of you," I replied.
At that, Layla was also annoyed because I had lied to her all this time.
"Come on, you two. Didn't you hear him say he wants to change?" Kafka said, trying to calm them down.
"But Master... are you sure you want to let this happen?" Seraphine asked, a little worried.
"Don't worry. If he really intended to kill you two, he would have done it from the start. Right, Leon?"
I nodded. Seraphine and Layla felt a little calmer. Kafka guaranteed that I would not be dangerous.
The three of them then planned to expose the traitor who was disguised as Kafka. Because according to Leon, demons are full of cunning, and they would do anything to destroy humanity.
In the end, according to the plan, the three of them would expose the traitor.
