Chapter 0:

Before beginnings

Into the light: In a new dawn

The silence was ear bleeding. It was the same silence he heard after the passing of his sister, and it was all he heard since. He picks up his coffee from the wooden coffee table; multiple coffee stains seemingly appeared all in a similar position. The thought was glued to his head, no matter how much he tried to distract himself. It will forever stick with him.
"Why, why are these memories always returning," Kuroseki pondered the thought to himself. "Why can't I get over this regret."
He places his hand on his forehead, hoping it would try help him in any way possible. His head felt heavy, heavier than usual. It was as if his thoughts had weight. Despite his hand taking some of the weight, it didn't help much with his thoughts. A woman appears from around the corner. She looked in her mid 30s with partly long black hair, it looked as if it was cut recently. She had a disgusted look as she peered over Kuroseki's direction. A death looking glare shortly followed.
"Kuroseki, I'll need you to get a job, the homes finances are getting tight," she says while flapping a booklet on the same wooden table he placed his coffee on earlier. "There's no way I'll let you just stay at home all day doing nothing, it's your responsibility to help out as well."
He doesn't dare to look her war, making as little eye contact as he could. The booklet didn't look anything special; it just seemed to have many squares at a quick glance. Kuroseki picks it up and begins flicking through it, inspecting the text written on it. It was a job listing booklet.
"I'll see what I can do, mother," he says in a flat voice, appearing indifferent from his mother request.
Once she heard his agreement, leaves the room with her footsteps on the wooden tiles flooding the room.

"I have to do this little thing for her, it was my fault after all, on what happened" he whispered to himself, determined to find somewhere to apply to.
Kuroseki further looks within the booklet, a job that would pay decently and didn't seem to have much work. A listing catches his eye, and he looks at it for a few seconds. He continues to further stare deep into it. And for a short moment a grin almost appeared.

"I've just found the job to do," he mutters to himself.
