Chapter 10:

Toxic friendship

Our Town in another world

Rosa cried as the last of her pink hair was shaved off, leaving her head bald and shiny. The makeover wasn't over just yet though as Winona began shaving off Rosa's eyebrows, with the latter naturally protesting.

"Sorry beut, but when you shave a girl's head, you shave her brows to match. Least you're so cute you look sexy no matter what. Sleeping with your head at night's gonna make me feel all fuzzy," Winona swooned.

Once the job was done, Winona lowered Rosa's head and removed her gag.

"Damn, look at her. Don't even recognize her, but gotta agree with you that she's got an odd cuteness to her," Aoi snickered.

"Damn well better join me in baldness," Rosa tearfully glared.

"Who said you're done yet?" Winona snickered as she turned Rosa's head towards the water.

A swirling light green ball that appeared to be made of wind, water, and some other mysterious compound hovered above the water.

"See that? That's my magic. Nice little gift for the smarty type, huh."

"And what kind of magic is it?" Rosa asked, struggling to hide her terror.

"Just wind. See I just scooped up some water and clay from the bottom of the lake. Don't worry, the wind won't cut ya," Winona smirked as the ball began hovering towards Rosa.

"Wait, what do you mean- Mmph!?"

With a mighty Splat, the ball encased Rosa's enture head and face in a minty green clay.  Muffled cries rang out as Rosa began struggling violently to break free, unable to breath.

"Relax, air holes are coming," Winona growled as the clay covering Rosa's nostrils vanished, allowing her to breath again. "One time I did this and my girl died on the spot. I was so pissed a sliced up a mountain with my wind. Good thing I'm a learner and never mess up twice," she smiled as she wiped the clay off Rosa's eyes, allowing her to see again.

"Mmph- Mmph!?"

"Yeah, sorry. I took your gag off, but this stuff's so sticky it shuts your mouth naturally. Don't worry, I'll shove the ole cloth gag back on when you're done. Then you'll just need to wait until Aoi's ready and bound n' gagged no more."

Rosa responded with an angry grunt, yet could do little more than sit in place like she had been doing as Winona held her knife to her cheek and began shaving her once more.

"So what is that stuff?" Aoi asked.

"Sticky slick from the bottom of the lake. Makes your skin shiny, sticky, slimy, n' smooth."

"Mmph [Eww]," Rosa groaned.

"The sticky n' slimy part washes off. Uhp, that means you get dunked again."

"Oo, spoiler alert," Aoi sneered.

"Seriously, even if this is for our benefit, you're going a bit far. I'm a sensitive timid creature," Rosa thought.

An introvert by nature, Rosa often spent her time living in her room, too afraid to venture outside. One day, she had a change of heart and began going on walks as she found out people don't always bother you when you're walking. Those rules didn't apply to Aoi, who decided to hound her, simply because she felt making her uncomfortable would lead to potential trouble for herself latter down the line. In short, Aoi Plav was a terrible human being.

She'd drag poor Rosa down shady side streets, drag her through people's lawns, all against her will. Worse, Rosa's personality made her afraid of telling anyone about this as she feared she'd be the one that would get in trouble if she did. Thus, a toxic friendship was born, and was about to climax in the coming hour.

Once all the clay was shaved off Rosa's head and face, she was dunked in the pond again, holding her breath until Winona dragged her out and threw her before the tree on the shore.

"NOW you're all done," Winona snickered as she flashed her mirror before Rosa.

The poor girl broke down in tears. "What have you done to me!? I look like a freak!"

"And thanks for your opinion on the matter, now shut up," Winona smiled as she promptly gagged Rosa just as she had promised, before hogtying her and dangling her from one of the tree's branches.

"You're up, Aoi," Winona smirked as she tossed her knife over to Aoi.

"I get to keep the knife?" Aoi asked as she readied to slice off her ponytail.

"Sure. Makes it more fun for me."

"Gamer," Aoi grinned as she hacked off her ponytail.

She then cut the ropes bounding her ankles, yet instead of running off, she strolled over to the water and dunked her head in.

"Just asking, I can't switch sides at all? Sounds like hunting would be more fun than getting hunted," Aoi smirked as she began shaving her head.

"Sorry, prey is prey. But the hunter can become the hunted as told in the Collier's. Outlast me, ambush me, feed me to the dogs, and all of mine becomes yours. With the madness within you, I can already foresee a great hunter within."

"Good, cuz I like big thrills, and nothing's more thrilling than shit like this."

Winona silently smiled and watched Aoi shave her head and eyebrows as did Rosa, though her mind was centered more on something else. "Collier's... That's the magazine Richard Connell's "The Most Dangerous Game" was published in. This whole scenario feels like it's straight out of it, minus the head shaving, but it raises the question of why. The way she refers to Collier's implies she has a copy of it, but unless it's a replica or a museum copy, that shouldn't be possible. Even then, did our town ever have a copy of the magazine? Damn this gag. I don't know if she'll give me the chance to talk much after Aoi's done," she dejectedly thought.

"Your mind on something?" a voice whispered.

Rosa looked around until finally spotting the dwear beneath her.

"Forgot I was here? All part of survival qualities. Now, if you're curious about her bible, The Collier's, I'll tell you just a few short things about it. First off, she always keeps a copy of it in her pouch at all times, and has every line and passage memorized. Second, she's had it for the equivalent of 100 human years.  And if you wish to know my name, DaVinci. Just, DaVinci, no spaces like Da Vinci. I wish you luck in your trial," the dwear nodded as he sunk back beneath the earth.

Aoi had just finished her makeover and was now as bald, browless, and shiny as Rosa.

"So how do I look? Wait, FUCK! Could've had you record, dammit!" Aoi fumed as she pulled Rosa's phone out of her pocket.

"Fear not, I saw it all, and will remember your beauty and madness ever more every time a gaze at your head at night, unless of course, you feed me to the dogs," Winona smirked.

"What dogs you got?"

"None, actually. Which is why feeding me to them is nothing short of impossible. Now, let's get in position, shall we?" Winona smiled as she cut Rosa free.

Hitting the ground with a thud, Rosa groaned as she picked herself up and ripped the gag off her mouth. "Now I'm all muddy on the front."

"Mud can be used to evade me.  Now simply put, all you need to do is evade me for 3 Ules. 2 hours 59 minutes 4 seconds in your metrics. I'll allow you a start of 15- er, 15 minutes is counting to 60 15 times, yes?"

Rosa and Aoi nodded.

"Good. 15 minutes, and I shall pursue. Your time starts NOW!"

"Wait, I can't ask you about the Collier's?" Rosa asked.

Winona's gaze narrowed. "I won't show the holy texts to prey. If you want to see it- Well how did I say that was possible, smart one?"

Rosa clenched her fist and gritted her teeth as she turned to Aoi. "Phone."

Aoi shrugged and tossed over her phone.

"Oh, and you can use anything at your disposal to try and evade me," Winona grinned.

"I will," Rosa glared as she took off running with a dumbfounded Aoi in close pursuit.

"Oi, where you running off to!? We gotta wait her down then run when she can move!"

But Rosa had no such intentions. She wanted to live and go home. "If Ohana is here in this mysterious world, we should be able to take refuge there. It also means all my friends there should be able to help too," she thought as she made a call.
