My name is Genta Naito ; I'm 17 years old. Average height, and I'm a high school student in my senior year . I grew up in a very poor living situation that forced my entire household to get jobs . You might be asking, "How did this happen?"

Before me, my sister was born. My parents were a bunch of gamblers who wanted to win big. The way they said it made it seem like they were so desperate for money when I asked them, "Why are we so poor?"

They gambled a lot and had to borrow money from a loan shark, and when they lost, you guessed it, we fell into debt. I always dreamed of exploring the world and yearned for freedom since my life was always waking up, eating, doing schoolwork , and sleeping-repeat .

Maybe things aren't so bad. Seeing the sakura trees blooming outside the window.

"Yo , Genta! Are you finally going to hang out with us? We found this cool haunted hospital. "

"Sorry , not today, Kyle. Maybe next time. I've got to get going, or I 'll be late. See ya."

In the background , I hear Kyle's sigh of disappointment while I grab my things and start heading to my part-time job at the local supermarket.

Kyle has always been there , along with Rey and Aoto in the back, as long as I've known them. They are my first real friends. If it weren 't for them, I suppose I'd have never made it where I am today.

Looks like we have a busy day.

" You're late, Genta. Where were you? We need you in there!"

"Sorry , sir . It won't happen again."

The store always gets crowded during the evenings , as luck would have it-or unlucky, depending on how you look at it. Sure, I get paid a bit more, but that also means a ton of people looking to buy a limited energy drink called soda pop.

Looks like I have another long shift ahead of me. Five hours later, my shift is over.

I clock out and walk home. That was just my life up until this point , other than the casual gaming I did with Kyle and Rey . But this was just life.

"I'm home . "

Or that's how I thought it would be until I paid off the 5 million yen.

In the blink of an eye, everything went blank. It felt cold, and I couldn't feel my body as if my soul was being ripped out of me.

Just like that , the world I knew was no more. This is the story of a boy sent to another world, being sent there as a hero to defeat the demon lord and find out what happened that day when everything went away in the blink of an eye.
