Chapter 9:
The Strongest Sage, Reincarnated as an Onmyouji
“Let’s start the meeting.” Hyouka took a laptop from her bag and plugged it into the projector.
“Our target is the Ayakashi blending into Karakido High. One of the students was an Ayakashi and is now being detained.” Hyouka changed slides and showed us a picture of a student who looked very familiar to me.
“That’s… Aragami Senpai!” Your kidding! The kind and friendly senpai is one of those monsters!?
“He told us that there are at least 15 of them blending in as students and staffs.”
“What are their motives?” Kurasu raised his hands and asked.
“To bring everyone from the school into the Ayakashi realm, and turn them into human livestock.”
Hearing it, the tension in the air started to get heavy.
It’s not the first time I’ve heard of this kind of plan before, in fact, it’s quite a common plan for the demons to try and capture humans, elves and other races as livestock.
But for the rest of them, it’s probably their first time hearing it.
“I’m scared…”
“No need to worry, Yura.” Yura’s boyfriend Tomore hugged her before asking Hyouka a question.
“Why us? Why choose us?”
Hyouka looked at Tomore and answered nonchalantly, “You guys were the only ones that are available and able to enter a high school as students.”
“Why not have someone join in as one of the staff members?”
“The school wasn’t hiring.”
“Is… that so…”
So basically, this ragtag of people is only chosen cause they are the leftovers.
“Anyways, our plan for now is simple. We go through life as normal while slowly figuring out who the enemy is.”
“Do we strike when we find them?” Kenichi asked, getting all pumped up.
“Nope. We strike when the time for their plan to start.”
“And when is it?”Kurasu asked while adjusting his glasses.
“School festival in 2 weeks.”
“I see. So the Ayakashi will strike when the number of people in the school is at its highest. But why should we stop attacking them when the number of casualties is the greatest?”
“If we strike them one by one, they will notice something is wrong and keep a lower profile. Plus, there are at least 15 of them. I doubt we can snuff out all 15 at once, or find them all in one place apart from during the School festival.”
“I see. That’s a convincing answer.” Kurasu smiled as if the answer given to him was more than enough to convince him.
“For the roles, Kurasu, Hibiki, and Fubuki will focus on finding the Ayakashi as our recon force. Yura, Tomore, and Kenichi are our main attack force. As the acting commander, I’ll support both teams on the side, while Ichirou will provide support on the field. If anything happens, I’ll step in to help.”
As Hyouka gave everyone their role, there was one person she never gave a role to.
“How about Myojin?” Kurasu asked once again.
“He’s our emergency card. Our nuclear button, to say the least.”
“So he’ll only come when we’re losing?” Kurasu replied with slight annoyance in his voice.
“Yes.”
“...Fine then. But just so you know, you won’t have your chance to fight.” Kurasu glared at me.
“Well, I hope I don’t have too. So, good luck.”
“You! You’re quite a cocky guy, aren’t you?”
I thought his supposed to be the cool-headed character, but it seems like his the glasses character that gets piss off easily.
“Then, let’s have a match!”
Here it is! The ‘Let’s have a match and see if you’re really as strong as you are’ troupe!!
I would like to not reveal my magic to as many people as possible, especially from onmyouji, since I can’t erase their memory.
“Please stop,”Hyouka said with a stern voice.
“Why? If he’s really our trump card, then let us see his power.”
“I agree!” Kenichi raised his hands. “I want to see his power as well.”
“Yura and I as well.”
“We’re curious as well, right, Fubuki?”
“Unn!”
“I cannot allow. He and I have already formed a contract, and I won’t break that promise.”
“Tch, fine.”
“Ara, seems like the meeting is about to be over. Does anyone want something to drink?” Michyan walked towards Hyouka and gave her a cup of coffee.
Everyone raised their hands, and Michyan started to take down everyone’s order.
So far, the meeting seems to have gone smoothly. And I appreciate that Hyouka stood up for me and made sure I didn’t have to fight.
As we’re about to leave, Kurasu stops me.
“Since we were stopped by Hyouka, let’s continue our fight somewhere else. She can’t break the contract if she’s not here to see it.”
…Damm, this guy’s smart enough to find a loophole.
