Chapter 529:

The new top 10 worst games in the series list

En Passant Grandmaster

"Welcome back! It's time. Time to finally see after 8 seasons and 6 main series Side Stories, plus some special chapters, what the top 10 worst games out of the 324 game logs currently out there are!" Kisha declared.

No need to dawdle, let's get right into it. Starting with...

Number 10: Game log #260: Repeat Sweep.

Here we have an instance where I just hated writing a game. Despite a resignation occurring in what was originally a 52-move game to mate, 32 moves was still a lot. Not to mention, I felt agitated writing this, mainly due to me feeling I was forced to write it due to the mini-plotline I had set up with Czechoslovakia and Ecuador.

Number 9: Game log #254: Daria vs the Fairies.

A predictable pick. This one makes the list mainly because it was so long, I didn't even bother showing it. The game itself is good, and I wanted it to be showcased to the world. The problem was my motivation was at it's lows while writing the round 7 stuff post Japan vs Estonia.

Number 8: Game log #9: WWCF cards

Numakawa's debut game, and ironically one of his best games in the series. The match is still a bit boring though which is why it makes the list. I actually considered rewriting this game to make Numakawa dumber, but then I remembered I wanted to keep my sanity and noticed that while the game was kind of boring, it was still better than the other games on this list.

Number 7: Game log #294: The 6B finals.

You knew another game from 6B was gonna make the list simply due to how much stress I had with that arc.

"But isn't this game log technically 2 games?"

Yes, though the first game is barely even a game. The point is that both these games came when I was stressed, and thus, I didn't have fun making them.

Number 6: Game log #160: Arrival in Budapest.

"Hold on, this wasn't in your last list!"

That's because I forgot about it. But now that I remembered, it makes the list.

"Why?"

Coca-Cola Gambit, that's why.

"Oh."

Number 5: Game log #59: Numakawa's Bongcloud gambit.

I know it isn't fair to Daria to put this game on the list, but Numakawa was so cringe he deserves it. While Game 2 in this game log also featured Numakawa being a complete idiot, Iori making the dumb moves just to trick Numakawa into thinking they were genius was entertaining. This one, not so much as much like Daria, I was cringing at Numakawa the whole time.

Number 5: Game log #35: Proxy.

Numakawa being a complete idiot and bungling the game, were you really surprised this made the list? What gets it a spot higher than the previous game was the fact that Numakawa was just flat out stupid in this game and completely disregarded all the info Okisato had given him the night prior on the piece of shit and his proxies. To be fair, he did need to lose for the sake of the plot, but the game was still cringe enough to get it a spot on this list.

Number 4: Game log #266: Alouette, gentille alouette.

"Wait, you said yesterday this would be number 2!? What gives!?"

I forgot how bad the games above it were. Unlike the games right above it at 3 and 2, this game didn't make me lose brain cells. It just made me miserable.

Number 3: Game log #94: Sir Grobhand vs Numakawa.

"There's two games for this game log, right?"

Yes, and they're both on the list. Originally, these games occurred in two separate chapters, but revisions brought them together. Numakawa's a fucking idiot, though to be fair to the 3-check game, he wasn't Medeucesa's original opponent there, only becoming it following the revisions. Numakawa vs Sir Grobhand though? Would have easily made the first edition of this list if I finished Season 5 before making it.

Number 2: Game log #67: The unstoppable Coca-Cola gambit

"Oh, you forgot how bad Numakawa was, right?"

Exactly. I lost brain cells making this low elo shitstorm of a game. There were so many times I just refused to continue writing due to how cringe the game was, but fortunately, or for some, unfortunately, I managed to finish the game and unleash it upon the world.

Number 1: Game log #24: One wrong move

Even after all this time, this game is still the one I hate the most due to how much stress it caused me at the time. In case you forgot, here's a bit of a refresher. I've been vocal in how much I hated writing this game. It took me 3 whole rewrites and I didn't enjoy it at all. Getting the game to the point where Utami was on the verge of being promoted was a nightmare. The first version was good until I realized Utami's pawn had been captured early so that game had to go. The second game was just bad. I basically had the characters intentionally making bad moves in order to set up the scenario where Utami's pawn made it to the 2nd rank. Then there was this one... It was the best, so I went with it. Even though there have been games after this which stressed me out when making them, I never had to redo entire games from start to finish like this one.

"And that's it! Now all that's left game wise is the top 10 best ones. Then maybe we'll do characters or not. All depends on how Mario's feeling, so I'm making no hard promises."
