Chapter 2:
Artura Porter: I Was Transmigrated to a New World and All I Got Was This Broken Storage Ability!
Moccasins acquired! It was actually easier than anticipated. She’d killed the lecherous green mob and suddenly: Moccasins! They just appeared. It’s corpse dissolved and there were the shoes. She slipped them on and to her astonishment were exactly the right size.
This also further added to her understanding of the mechanics of the world. Artura would have to experiment some more but survival here might be easier than she thought it would. All she’d have to do is think of what she needed, kill some trash, and boom! That was just speculation for the moment, speculation that she’d need but a moment to confirm.
Her head turned sharply toward the goblins cowering against a tree trunk. They cried out yet Artura showed no mercy.
The results, well, they dropped meat which was fine, but what she really wanted was a McDonal’s Burger and Fries. It’s couldn’t be helped, she shrugged. At last it was time to put the storage skill to good use. Artura planned to walk until nightfall then find shelter and cook the meat first thing in the morning.
“Store!” The ground shimmered and the meat started to sink but stopped partway. The ground solidified and now there were two pieces of raw goblin meat sticking out of it. What the what?!? She approached to meat bent down and tugged at it, only succeeding in tearing off a piece.
Thinking about it logically this probably meant her storage ability wasn’t automatic despite saying it was a passive skill. She circled around it once more. Perhaps she had to visualize the space. She started by visualizing a chip bag, “Store!”
The ground shimmered once again and the first piece fully submerged, the second didn’t. Next she visualized a suitcase which did the trick. She sighed. This was a bit exhausting. Why did that goddess have to half-ass everything, she screamed internally.
She didn’t receive any status update saying what she’d just stored which was fine, just a perk that’s usuallygranted to this sort of power. She gritted her teeth in annoyance at her godly benefactor. The internal screaming intensified.
Now to figure how to get it out.
“Retrieve!” “Remove!” “Eject!” “Unstore!”
She tried several more phrases then took a breath. Command words were totally out so she would have to try to visualize it again.
She imagined unzipping the suitcase and brought her hand inside it. Her hand slipped into the air into a shimmering, sparkly, rainbow puddle in front of her. She felt around and the texture was exactly like the inside of a suitcase. Her hand made contact with the slightly wet pieces of goblin meat. She pulled her hand out and the portal closed up.
Shaking the sensation off, she now knew how to use her ability at least a little bit so it was time to begin walking.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Artura’s was attacked by a few different kinds of mobs which she was able to defeat or drive away. Goblins, Kobolds, gross giant ants, and a few others. She collected the goblin and kobold meat, and got armor from the ants. The armor included elbow, knee, shoulder pads, and breast plates. One ant which was twice the size of the others she’d come across dropped an antenna headband. Artura curiously put it on.
EQUIPMENT:
-Goddess Krona’s Enchanted Comfort Plus Bra & Panties set with self cleaning and #@#@#.
SKILLS: [Activations requirements not met]
Bonuses: Size adjust. Self Cleaning. Self Repairing. Divine Aura.
-Giant Soldier Ant Carapace Armor
Bonuses: Defense UP.
-Ant Queen’s Antenna Headband
SKILLS: Queen’s Command. Empathy.
-Bonuses: Mental Fortitude UP
Taking a closer look at her equipment she now had an idea as to where to extra divinity was coming from, it turns out her underwear was exuding some kind of divine aura. It was still unclear what it’s skill was but she’d no doubt find out eventually.
The headband she’d obtained from the large ant seemed to have come from a queen and when equipped it allowed her to command the giant ants. It also had another ability: Empathy, which wasn’t exactly as self-explanatory as the other.
The ants seemed to be following her using underground tunnels so they could come to her aid at a moment’s notice. With an army in tow she able to find her way to shelter without incident.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next morning she woke up and took the meat out of her storage. About half the ants in her guard had camped outside the cave she now emerged from. She’d made an unfortunate and mildly infuriating discovery regarding the storage ability. The meat she’d put it in had grown squishier and was starting to take on a color like that of the goblin it came from. Time was not frozen in her storage. The meat was tossed to her ant guards. She turned to an ant that had become the defacto representative. It would be weird to just keep addressing him as Defacto Ant Guard. She held out her hand in front of her and said, “Your name shall be Arikawa!”
As soon as she said the name a golden string flew from her finger tip and into the ant. The string ran down her arm and to her navel and back up and into the ants soul. He was now bound to her and she suddenly felt kinship with him.
The rope broke causing her to trip backwards luckily she managed not to fall. Artura still felt the connection.
The ant itself had gone through a fast transformation, it’s carapace was now covered in golden lines and it’s height which had previously been up to Artura’s shoulders was now twice what it had been making it about 4 times taller than the average Giant Ant.
A light appeared in the corner of her vision.
APOSTLES: Arikawa, Augmented General Ant (Soul link ACTIVE)
FOLLOWERS: Giant Ants of the Eastern Woods of #@#@#
It seemed he’d gotten a class upgrade. Though, this screen did inspire some questions such as why did she have apostles and followers as though she were some kind of god. She was human. Another point of interest is the name of the land she was in for some reason it wasn’t legible similar to her mystery skill. Her best guess regarding those is that they wouldn’t be visible until she was aware of what they were, so there wasn’t much use in worrying about it. There were more important things to focus on.
Going back to what she had initially intended, she ordered Arikawa to send some of his men to forage for food for her and he did just that.
Initially she was just going to stare at him and clutch her stomach until he finally got the memo but since they were linked he was able to understand what she was saying making things a lot easier.
While they were foraging Artura went back into the cave to experiment with her storage a bit more.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was only about an hour before they returned with food and Artura had made three interesting discoveries. One, she could not shrink her storage, once it expanded it stayed expanded. Two, She could create whatever kind of storage she wanted. It didn’t matter how big as long as it was bigger than the previous storage container. Case in point she visualized the same cave she was now staying in to store a pebble and it worked. She could feel the same stone floor on the other side. The one minor caveat was revealed afterward.
She received a warning: “Dimensional growth boundaries exceeded, cool down initiated. Warning, do not place objects in Other Dimensional space until stabilization is achieved, extended cool down and risk of tearing possible. Cool down: 2 days, 6 hours, 22 minutes.”
She immediately removed the pebble and closed storage. She now wouldn’t be able to mess around with it another two days. The ants came back a few minutes later.
After a meal of some kind of spotted yellow fruit with a taste resembling mango and a main dish of slime creature. Artura decided it was time to get to the settlement. Hopefully her storage ability would be back by then.
