The dungeon (4)

All of the students were busy capturing the beautiful view of that trees shape and colour, when Mahiru asked Requs

“It's directly above the dungeon entrance, means the 1st floor is directly below it right?”

“Don't worry, I know what you are concerned about mahiru. There is a large gap between the floor roof and the above ground so any attack you use inside will not give any damage to the tree above. so rest assured.”

“Good, I was worried that our student would make a mistake and damage the sacred tree.”

“I would still suggest being cautious.”

“We will be.”

Hikaru asked out of curiosity “ What will happen if we accidentally caused harm to the tree, just what if?”

“You will be thrown in prison,” said Requs with a gentle smile.

Hikaru went to the students, grabbed their attention by waving both of his hands and said

“Listen all of you! If any of you brat used any type of attack towards the roof i am gonna behave like i dont know you and you are not from our academy, be thrown in jail or sea i don't care. Did you get it!”

“ Like you do now.” Somebody yelled from the students.

“ I do only up to a level where it helps me get salary”

Mahiru hits Hikaru’s back with her wand and says

“You are really not suited to be a teacher,”

“Only my principle and mottos are different everything beside them yells that i am a great teacher”

“Okay okay now let’s divide the students in groups and hear their strategies”

“Alright, ” replies Hikaru.

Hikaru and Mahiru divide the students in groups of 4 or 5 depending on the necessity of a type of magician. There were not many healers so in place of them a tank or supporter was added.

Mai was in the same group with the elf student she saved on the ship.

Hikaru and Mahiru instructed them not to go far away from the other groups or try to go to the next floor without them. In cas of any severe injuries, fall back and inform them. Any type of single charge attack was prohibited from any student from the groups. In case of an encounter with any unknown monster, retreat and inform them.

After explaining everything they entered the dungeon, Requs was not going to go with them. He went back to do his other duties.

There were stairs through the spiraled roots which lead them to the dungeon. Hikaru was walking down in the front, behind him were the students and at the end was Mahiru.The way down was a little narrow, only two people can stand side by side in that route.

After descending the stairs for a while Hikaru saw an end to them.

He enters first and looks around, it was an uneven ground made of stone. The roof and the ground was separated by a good amount of gap, the width of that area was also the same. No monster was in sight. The roots of the sacred tree were visible, they were coming out from the walls at some places and going in at others. There were grey flowers blooming on those black roots. Different sizes of rocks were present there; they would have been helpful in taking cover or hiding from monsters.

Tree vines were coming out from here and there on the side walls and the roof.

“You can come now”

All the students entered. Mahiru entered at last and asks Hikaru,

“Should we tell them to start now?”

“That's why they are here although I don't think everyone will get the experience to fight on the first floor.”

Mahiru looks around and says “That's true”

They head towards the students.

“Now work in a group. There will not be many monsters here so don't go and fight a monster to which a group is already fighting until it is not to help them if they are in danger. If its a big and powerful one then you can fight against it with help from another group.”

Everyone moved in a group, hikaru was walking with some of the front group and Mahiru was walking with the groups in the back.

Some creature was seen by the group walking furthest in the front on the ground.

A creature like a monkey, walking on all four of his limbs. All furry and the end of the tail relatively bigger and heavier than the base, also in a different colour than their bodies.

They were called omers.

The healer of that group informed Hikaru about them.

“You know who they are, right?” asked hikaru

“Yes, they are omers.” They replied.

“And their special features?"

“Their tail acts as a weapon and they can s…….” He stopped mid way and shifted his attention quickly from hikaru face to roof.

His eyes widened and he started sweating. Others followed his gaze and froze upon realizing in what situation they were.

Looking up they saw a huge number of ores, which were completely outnumbering them were either hanging upside down from the roof vines or stuck to the roof using their hind limbs. Ores can stick to anything using their hind limbs.

“Si…..sir they are above us”

“That's your fault for forgetting that. Now don't go far away from us, take your formation and start getting rid of them”

Everyone took their formation.The omers started attacking them. Some attacked from the front, some from the back, while some dropped themselves from the roof, spinning while falling and attacking with their tails.

Students were barely able to dodge their attacks and their tails struck the ground leaving big cracks at them.

Hikaru and Mahiru were helping the students whenever they seemed in danger.

“ I don't think it was a great decision to not tell them about the omers on the roof. when i noticed them you signaled me to not say anything but now i think i should have warned them.’ said Mahiru while helping the students and fighting the omers.

“It's the only way by which they can learn to be careful even if the view in front of you seems peaceful. People learn by mistakes. If you had told them they would depend on you to look out for any danger.”

“Can't argue with that.”

After around half an hour they finally got a rest from the omers. Some of the students had minor injuries, their group healers were healing them and those who didn't have healers in their group were healed by Mahiru.

“You are not exhausted right? We still have to go to the next floor.”

“We have to go to the next floor!?” some students yelled with exhausted eyes.

“Don't worry. It's your first time so we will just take a look at the next floor and finish it for the day. But don't let your guard down when you're in a dungeon, no one knows what can happen. Let's go”

They went and fought with some other monster until they reached the stairs to the next floor.

The students were room exhausted to go any further.They just took a quick glance at it and went back to their houses.

It was almost evening. All the students were covered in dust and sweat so they went to the bath house. Some students were so exhausted that they slept in the bath house.

Even during the dinner some were asleep.

Hikaru and Mahiru decide to give them a day off for the next day.
