While I Chase The Sky

Prologue

The sky sings with gunfire - thousands of bullets shredding steel and aluminum, the thunder of pressure engines drowning out everything else.

Mighty bombers, lumbering like ancient beasts, press onward through the chaos. Around them, fighters wheel and dive, flitting like birds fighting over breadcrumbs. In a clash this close, the hardest part is knowing who’s who. Was that blur an enemy, lunging for the vulnerable bombers? Or an ally, fiercely guarding them - tearing down the attackers with ruthless precision?

Suddenly, a bomber vanishes in a fireball. A direct hit. Its bomb load - three thousand kilograms of high-explosive - detonates midair.

These bombs are meant to flatten cities.

Now they flatten the sky.

The explosion rips through the formation, taking five nearby aircraft with it. Wings shatter, engines rip free, bodies tumble. Like falling angels, they plummet - burning, crumbling, breaking apart.

But still, the bombers fly on. Their target lies just ahead.

The bombs fall. Whistling. Screeching. Terrifying.

They descend into the heart of a bustling city.

Terror bombing, they call it. No military targets. No factories. Just civilians.

From above, all you see are the flashes - rows of bright yellow blooms, fireballs rising in sequence like beads on a string. Expanding smoke swallows the streets below. The city disappears.

Mission complete, the remaining bombers bank away, breaking formation as they turn for home. The real battle begins now: the return flight, scattered, vulnerable, hunted. Not all will make it.

But further back, behind the smoke and flame, the fighter escorts are still locked in brutal duels with enemy interceptors.

They twist. They jink. They dive.

Fueled by hatred.

One by one, aircraft drop like dead birds. Neither side holds the advantage.

Soon the sky fractures into individual battles - one-on-one, two-on-two.

And in each cockpit, only one thought remains:
Kill. Survive. Get home.
