Chapter 49:
Our Town in another world
As the plane began it's descent, everyone gazed out the windows at the snowy landscape before them. Forests of tall trees and streams of glowing clear water as far as the eye could see added to the splendor, but the most spectacular thing in sight was a large crystal laced with stone walkways. That was Evendale, the elven capitol of the continent.
"They actually do live in a crystal, and they spit on us for living underground," Borferd scoffed.
"Evendale is built into the great crystal in a way that preserves it's beauty and structure. We also grow cotton for clothes and artifacts so as not to harm the trees, and grow various edibles to eat," Mizata stated as she engulfed the plane in her wind magic.
"And with all those trees, where do you plan to land this?" Thorwall asked.
"There is a small clearing on the path to the entrance. I shall lay it there."
While the wind magic slowly lowered the plane to the ground, Thorwall was still anxious due to the wingspan possibly getting damaged by the trees, but Mizata managed to fit it in without anything getting damaged. DaVinci then created the stairwell for everyone to descend, but no sooner did everyone disembark did a group of elves, all with long minty green hair and clad in togas and sandals, surround them with wind magic glowing out of their palms.
"I- It's me. I've returned from my trip to Buvaria and have met a new city of humans that wish to make peace with us!" Mizata trembled.
The wind only intensified.
"NO! They really wanted me dead after all!" Mizata cried in her mind.
"W- Wait! We present you with the heads of your greatest foes!" Rosa stuttered as she held up the severed heads of Shalala and Harajuku.
The elves suddenly stopped their magic, and began turning to each other to whisper. One then flew back to the city while the others remained on guard, though not as intensely as before.
"I guess this means it worked... Still, why like this?" Rosa sighed as she hung her head low.
"Think of it this way; they saved us with their sacrifices. This may be hard for you to accept, but to many of the world, those two were a threat. To see a fear that has plagued you for millennia finally vanquished must be relieving, but don't let your guard down. They might deem us more powerful threats," DaVinci warned.
"I can imagine, but I think I can explain this away. It's what Nagako would have done."
A large gust of wind then blasted from above, diverting everyone's gazes upward. There flying towards them in the sky was an elf with a long mass of emerald green hair stretching far past the tips of her feet. Flanking her were two elves, each with their long minty green hair tied up in long braids from the neck down. Like Mizata, all three bore emerald headbands.
The circle of elves all took a knee and bowed their heads as the three elves landed as did Mizata.
"Look who returned. Thought you'd die somewhere along for sure," one of the minty-haired elves snickered.
"Do not speaketh before me!" the emerald-haired elf barked as she used her wind to slice off the elf's braid, leaving her hair at just shoulder-length.
"Ah, took me 700 years to grow it that long," the elf sneered as she knelt down to grab her severed braid.
The emerald-haired elf's gaze narrowed once more as she used her magic to gag and bind the elf's wrists with her own severed hair braid before forcing her to her knees with her magic.
"Thou would be wise to let thy gag silence thee. For the intruders. How did thee slay the Aarlord menaces? Was it the filthy dwarves, or the primitive humans that garb themselves in such odd clothing?"
Rosa stepped forward. "It was primarily through the work of humans. Allow me to explain the process. These two were brought along with the intention of sacrificing them to the great sky puma-"
"So that is what killed them, and it granted thee their heads as tokens."
"No... They killed the great sky puma."
Audible gasps emitted from all the elves.
"Cease such lies! The beast could not be harmed by our strongest of mages!"
"These two killed it. You can go check the corpse. It's not the type that regenerates itself, right?"
The emerald-haired elf released the short-haired elf, who immediately bolted off into the sky with the other elf that looked similar to her. They returned a few minutes later, but each with different expressions on their face. The long-haired one was frowning, while the short-haired one was grinning from ear-to-ear.
"It is true. The great sky puma has been slain. The skies are free," the long-haired one declared.
The emerald-haired elf took a step back in shock, visibly starting to tremble as she stared down Rosa. "Then you slayed them yourself!?"
"No, Jenna did. She managed to poison them, which weakened them to the point where she could deliver a killing blow with ease. Then the others joined in to ensure the two were dead."
"Yeah, so make sure you count me as killing them!" Boreferd hollered.
"We most certainly won't! And human, you are but a creature of lies," the emerald-haired elf glared.
"We can show you how we did it. It's rather simple-"
But the emerald-haired elf cared not and hit Rosa with a small gust of wind, toppling off her wig and exposing her bald head to all. "Filth. Bald filth is the most repulsive thing to our kind. A symbol of humiliation, disgrace, and you tried to deceive me."
"This wasn't by choice! I was kidnapped and had my head shaved against my will-"
"LIES! You are but a deceitful human, trying to fool us to benefit your own."
"Wait! It's true she's bald, but so is the town's leader! In their culture, bald isn't a bad thing!" Mizata shouted.
Immeasurable fury erupted from the emerald-haired elf. "Mizata, you speak out against me, and should your words ring true, it means the human city you speak of has customs of the filthy vermin orcs! A rat nest like that must be destroyed immediately!"
Before anyone could protest, the emerald-haired elf blasted off into the sky, flying rapidly in the direction towards Ohana.
"Ah, and the puma's dead too. No stopping her now. Looks like you humans just screwed yourselves," the short-haired elf snickered.
