Chapter 24:
STAR AWESOME
Everyone exchanged glances. They iched to talk with one another but remained silent.
Amanda sat with her head resting on her hand. She sighed as she tapped repeatedly on the table.
Nive looked at her, then at others.
As a common consensus, we decided not to tell her that Toby was bullied.
Nive shifted in his seat, trying to get a glimpse of her expression.
Amanda looked around, her eyes slowly drifting from one person to the next.
"You guys should have told me about all this."
She got up. "Well, there is no point in dwelling on the past. Computer, contact Hiroto."
The warmth of the morning sun was replaced by the distant blue. She lowered her head. "Why do you guys always disappoint me?"
Philomena patted her shoulder while Amanda sighed.
Yuzuru covered his face with his hands, mumbling softly, "Sorry, princie."
At the centre of the room, a portal opened, and Hiroto stepped out of it. He looked at Amanda and bowed as the portal shrank behind him.
"Princess Amanda, I came as soon as I received the call, and don't worry, I didn't tell Prince Carolos."
Amanda smiled, "Thank you, Hiroto. I need your knowledge to help me out."
Hiroto took her hand, gently kissing it, "It's a pleasure."
Amanda walked over to Hiroto, and the two disappeared, leaving behind the anxious teens.
.
.
They appeared in the training room. Hiroto looked around while Amanda cleared her throat to give the book writer each detail.
"Toby, one of the Star Awesome members, killed himself," She paused, trying to see any features of disdain on his face.
"That's sad to hear," he spoke softly, easing her.
"Right, and now he is seen as a wandering soul last night, through some research, Star Awesome members have concluded that suicide might end their immortality." Amanda noticed his lips frown for a bit.
"With due respect, Princess, but how are they sure about it, and why did Toby commit suicide in the first place." He lowered his head respectfully.
"I don't know, they didn't tell, is that information necessary?" She pouted softly, for she knew if Carolos was to know about this behavior, he would make a big fuss.
Hiroto softly smiled, "It's okay, I won't tell Prince Carolos, and that information is mostly unnecessary." He sighed, "But it hurts me to see they don't tell you a thing, even after how much you care about them."
His words pierced deep. She, too, had realized this secrecy they held. She lowered her head again. Drowning in the inaudible whispers reminding her how worthless a dream her father carried. Hiroto took a step forward and gently pecked her shoulder. She turned to him, escaping from the illusory disdain.
"So, a member suicided and was seen as a wandering soul." Hiroto summed up the whole scenario. He twirled his golden lock thoughtfully, "Princess, I don't really know how the batch works. I might have been created during those times, but I was not given much knowledge."
Amanda looked up at the roof, "I know, the batch was made by Dad, Crystal King, and the great sorceress." She gave him a faint smile, "And none of them was the type to leave behind documentation."
Hiroto lowered his gaze, softly whispering, "I have told you that I suspect there were more people, amongst them might be the late demo-"
Before he could say any further, she covered his mouth with her hand. The sudden contact made Hiroto completely red.
"Shsssh, let's not revisit scandals."
Hiroto nodded as he took a few steps away from her, while she lowered her hand. "Since we will never find any documentation. So, in accordance with what happened, I do have a few theories."
Taking her hand, he pulled out his handkerchief.
He gently stroked it on her palm as he continued talking.
"There are many people who die with lingering desires; such people turn into spirits." Hiroto smiled.
"- I-I see." Amanda stood still before looking back at him, "B-but these people know they cannot die, so Toby can't have lingering desires."
Hiroto nodded, "But what if he knew this death would be his last death?"
A shiver went down her spine. She pulled her hand back and took a few steps away from him. "Is that possible?"
Hiroto thoughtfully replied, "Yes, and you do know how, but I will need his things so I can run the time rewind magic on them. It will give me an image of what he did the whole time. That might give me a clue if he did some forbidden magic."
"I don't think he, of all people, would." She looked at Hiroto, who tilted his head inquiringly. It was clear to her that he didn't trust these Star Awesome members. "I will get his stuff; you wait here."
She disappeared.
In the boys' combination room, the air felt heavy from nervousness. The red of the setting sun shone past the windows adding a sense of uneasiness.
"Man, if she finds out why he suicided?" Yuzuru bit his nail.
"Damn, we are cooked," Kaya shouted.
"There is no point in crying over what you did." Nive sighed. He covered his face, biting his lip. "Amanda will kill us."
Yuzuru pointed at Nive, "But look on the bright side, we will still come back to life."
Nive sighed, "Wow, shameless."
Yuzuru glanced at him, "Why Nive? Come on, dude, I am frustrated."
The door opened as Sen and Yao walked in.
Yuzuru walked up to them, "So are they still in the training room?"
Sen remained quiet. Yuzuru grabbed his arm, shaking him, "Dude?"
He noticed how cold Sen's arm was, "Sen, are you okay?"
Sen blinked, taking notice of Yuzuru. He nodded, "I am just a little, um... sorry that we have disappointed her again."
Yuzuru hugged him, "I-it's okay, Sen, it's not like you ever did a thing to Toby, so don't worry."
Nive stared at Sen. When did he become such a caring sh*t? Was he always like this? Is he being more expressive? Did he change?
A purple-haired guy flung the door open, "Princess is going to Toby's room!"
Everyone looked at each other. Kaya sighed and walked over to him, "Well, Dan, that's it for all of us."
He patted Dan while chuckling.
"What's the worst she can do to us, kill us?" A blond spoke in a bored tone as he crossed his hand over his chest.
"Shameless, Jacksaw!" Nive shouted and quickly turned to Dan, "Is she calling us?"
"No, she took Philomena with her." Dan lowered his eyelids, covering his mouth while he spoke.
"Philomena doesn't really know what happened, right?" Yuzuru looked at everyone."Yeah, cause she had her hands full with those three idiots." Yao chuckled as he nudged Sen, who took a step away from him.
.
.
.
"So this is Toby's room?" Amanda and Hiroto looked around while Philomena stood at the entrance.
The room was airy with a large balcony. Most of the decorations were white in color, except for a flower in his vase. Amanda picked it up and smiled, "He kept the little gift I gave him."
Hiroto walked over to her as she showed him the vase.
"Ah, the royal flower that changed color just like your real eyes." Hiroto smiled, looking at her blue eyes but mainly focusing on the letters of the spell that stopped her eyes from changing colors.
"He really liked flowers, and this one made him squeal like a little kid, so I just had to give at least one to him." She laughed softly, thinking about his childish behavior when he received the gift. She placed the vase back, "I will definitely get him back, he was the only one who truly respected me."
She quickly turned to Philomena, who was pouting, "And you, you are my cute little respectful girl." Philomena giggled, "I get it, don't worry."
Hiroto came to Amanda with a book in his hand, "Princess, I found a diary under his bed."
Amanda looked at the diary, then back at Hiroto, "Will it be enough?"
He smiled, "If he did commit black sorcery, there would be even a little bit of detail in it."
"But what if he never wrote anything of that sort?" Philomena nervously asked.
"Don't worry, his everyday life is enough for me to make out everything even if well hidden." He smiled and looked at the book with a frown.
He sighed as he gently flipped a few pages. "I will be going now, but please don't skip the fight at the sand dunes for this problem. Everyone will be really disappointed."
Amanda was about to argue, but Philomena spoke in her stead, "She won't, and none of us will."
Hiroto smiled, and a portal appeared behind him. He entered the portal, murmuring, "I think I can guess what happened; she will be really disappointed."
And the portal closed behind him.
