Chapter 12:
Blades of the Shattered Chaplets
At the entrance of the City of Thieves, the man in the suit pulled two Rose Chaplets out of his pocket. He laughed out loud, “Sorry boys, but this city is not for the kind.”
???: “Well, well. Now what do we have here?”
A man began to walk out of the trees with green hair, green eyes, and a flower looking crown matching his sword’s design before he continued to speak. “Now, I thought the director of the City of Thieves was supposed to be neutral. Let me teach you something about chaplets, director. You don’t have to use them in order for someone connected to one to know where it is.”
The director scoffed. “What a pleasure to have you here. If I recall, you are banned from this city. You almost destroyed it last time you were here.”
???: “Yeah…well…The problem is the people in this city are pretty weak. The other problem is you have something of mine. I’d like it back before I get mad.”
“Leave Yasuhiro. You aren’t allowed here. I took this as payment from your brother for payment of what you did 2 years ago.”
Yasuhiro laughed… “Still holding grudges are you? Wait…shh, shh, shh. Do I sense a few assassins in the trees nearby? Don’t tell me you were going to ambush me.”
‘Tch! Of course he sensed them.’ Yasuhiro continued walking in a circle. “You should’ve been prepared earlier. Taking something of mine and expecting to get away with it? I sensed your assassins running up to the trees from a mile away.”
“It’s just precaution, Yasuhiro. You know how this place works.”
Yasuhiro: “That may be true, but it does seem like a threat. I’ll let it slide for the moment, but in fact I do know how this place works. I have a coin in my pocket right here with a candle on it. I believe this gives me access to this location, does it not?”
“What do you want?” the director asked impatiently.
Yasuhiro: “Well, I would like an apology for you treating me so harshly first and then we can discuss business as this city should.”
The director swallowed his pride, “Anything to get you away from this city, I will do. I don’t need the hassle of rebuilding it from the ground again because of you. I’m sorry.”
Yasuhiro: “Ahh. Lovely. A fine apology indeed. I think I will take my leave then. I’ll come back for the chaplets later.”
“Now!” the director screamed out, as Yasuhiro walked back towards the trees. Assassins surrounded Yasuhiro and began to attack.
???: “Icicle Blade!”
???: “Sand Pit’s Ruins!”
???: “Shockwave Tension!”
???: “Cage of Imperialism!”
More chanting began from the rest of the assassins, targeting Yasuhiro with everything they had. Meanwhile, the director placed the rose chaplet inside a silver sword with spikes running down it. The sword lit up red aimed right at Yasuhiro.
Yasuhiro slightly turned his head and smiled, “Grassy Highlands,” he chanted out. The ground below him shot up 100 meters into the sky with him on top.
Yasuhiro: “Splendid! Beautiful! I wish your men were stronger, director. Seems like the same issue from 2 years ago.”
“Yasuhiro! Rose Thorn Spikes!” Red spikes bolted up towards Yasuhiro following him around as he somersaulted and evaded away easily. An assassin jumped up behind him who Yasuhiro didn’t sense. He had masked his mana completely. The director screamed out. “Gengir! Kill him!” Gengir dashed towards Yasuhiro as blades crossed. Yasuhiro’s sword immediately entangled around the man’s sword in vines, throwing it off the cliff. He jumped on Yasuhiro’s sword into the air to strike down on him with daggers. The rocky ground shot up, pushing Gengir into the air. He wheezed and lost his daggers. Yasuhiro jumped to the top and slammed his body through the rock wall formation back to the ground.
Yasuhiro: “A shame. You can mask your mana. I’ll let you live. You have potential.” He then turned serious and looked down to the ground back at the director. The fun had run out in his mind.
Yasuhiro: “Director, my power works everywhere. I have access to all nature. You should already know this. Insult me again by attacking me with weaklings like yourself, and I’ll destroy everything that matters to you. Apologize! I might just forgive you for a second time!”
The director shook in fear, but did not waver. “Do what you must. I live for myself. I will not beg for forgiveness again!”
“Have it your way,” he told the director as intense winds began to circulate. Yasuhiro’s whole body lit up with dark green mana lines. He chanted slowly and quietly, “Cyclone Barrage!” His sword pointed up in the sky turning it completely black with constant lightning strikes. Winds began to wreck the city and pull people into the clouds. Some managed to run and escape through the back exit, but the winds swept up most people in the city along with the teleporter.
“This was your choice, director! Say hello to the devil for me and say goodbye to your pitiful city.” Yasuhiro pointed his sword at the director, “Raiden!” he called out. The man was struck with constant flows of lightning until he perished to ash. The storm calmed down and the sun shone upon a destroyed city. Yasuhiro glanced at it 100 meters in the air with no emotion and then disappeared in an instant.
