Chapter 14:

Deceased Paradise

Blades of the Shattered Chaplets

Lucky appeared on a sandy land with skeleton bones surrounding the top layer. A place familiar to him from his earlier visit to this deserted place. A large castle made of bones and skeletons with red eyes stared him down. He knew he was in the right place. They all held the same sword while their eyes lit up. A sword made of dark red bones as if tainted with blood. It seemed so breakable, yet it was covered in an intense mana. Internally, Lucky’s consciousness was telling him to back away, however, his mind did not waver for even a second. He looked forward to the castle that was in front of him and yelled out, “Kastor! I know you’re in there! Come! I’ll bring an end to your reign that the swordsmen before me couldn’t!”

The large doors opened and a man stepped out. He had black hair running down over his eyes and black greyish eyes with a tint of orange. He wore all black with golden shoulder pads and a golden necklace hanging down from his neck. He looked menacing. ‘A human? Why is there a human here?’ he thought. “Hey! Where is Kastor?”

The man spoke cockily, “My name is Shin. I am the bodyguard of this castle. The master is enjoying tea right now, so he cannot come out here, nor would he.”

Shin looked down upon him as if he were an ant. “Leave. The master is willing to spare you and your false resolve. I’m also in a good mood, so I am willing to grant you leniency. Quickly now, this rarely ever happens that someone approaches this close and does not die. Be grateful we are both in good spirits. We received some good news today after all.”

Lucky continued to walk forward. Skeletons blocked his path, ready to attack at any moment. “Light Brigade!” Lucky called out. Continuous golden swords began to rain down.

“Gambits Bluff,” Shin called out. Some of the skeletons fell to death on the ground from Shin’s magic. An invisible barrier blocked every light sword coming in.

“What? Wait…Y-You don’t even have a sword. H-How is that possible?” Lucky’s mindset began to open to misfortune.

Shin: “Let me teach you something, boy. Since your death is approaching anyways now that you have forsaken my gratitude, I will grant you knowledge. Mana circulates through the body. You don’t need a tool like a sword in order to destroy weak attacks like yours, especially with the use of dark magic. Oh, and…did you really think you could even defeat the master, let alone 1 of these skeleton knights?”

One of the skeletons jumped forward, piercing Lucky in the chest. “Agh!…Wha…?” Blood poured from his body and he fell flat to the ground. Shin sighed, “I really hate to do this, but I’ll give you a fighting chance. Survive the best you can.”

The ground of bones started to shake around him. A hole opened and Lucky fell into the depths of hell. He gritted through his teeth,“Shiiiin!…Kas..tor…bro…th…er...”

Lucky with all his might reached into his pocket for the remaining rose chaplets he had, but felt nothing in his pockets. He couldn’t even think about where they were as he fell deeper and deeper into the darkness.
