Chapter 16:
Blades of the Shattered Chaplets
A woman came through an opened door in a purple witch outfit. “Come on Abby. Take that ridiculous outfit off.”
Abby: “Wow…Not even a “Hi Abby! How are you doing? It’s been so long!” Just your dark persona as always.”
Astro: “Sorry, but I don’t have time right now. A lot happened and I need your help. This is my friend Dante by the way. We both need your help.”
“You never have time. Dante? Hmm…Blink twice if you need help from this evil man,” she said in a seductive voice. Dante could tell this lady was strong, but lived her life how she pleased. The look in her eyes said that cared very little for this world.
Dante: “Sorry. I know being forced into being a prostitute isn’t the life you wanted. I’m familiar with that line of work.”
Abby scoffed.
“I’ll have you know you brat that I’m not a prostitute and never was. I just like the chase…”
She looked at Astro again in a seductive voice. “I’ll do anything for you, Astro. As long as you can reciprocate later on,” as she winked.
“Not happening. I just need you to find someone for me, quickly.” She winked at Astro again before beginning to speak. “And who is this you need to find?”
“Izuki, Kento,” Astro said out loud.
“Kento? Why would you possibly need his help? He won’t help you. He won’t help anyone. I’ve already told you my story,” as she perched her head down.
Astro: “I know, but it’s our only chance. His buddy used a chaplet to challenge Kastor.”
Abby now had her eyes opened as far as they could go. “Is he insane? Forget Kento. Your friend is already dead. I’m sorry. I can’t help you.”
Astro: “Please, Abby. I don’t ask for a lot. I have to see it with my own eyes or I won’t believe it. We won’t know unless we try and I’m not strong enough to challenge Kastor. Kento has the ability to beat him. I just have to convince him.”
Abby sighed, “Alright. Give me a minute. Although…I don’t think Kento can even win if I’m being honest. I’ve never seen Kastor though.”
She walked over to a small table in the corner of the room. A magic circle appeared on top of it. She began to chant words unfamiliar to Dante and pulled out a glowing small dagger. She stuck the dagger into the middle of the magic circle revealing an image visible to everyone in the room of a large tree bigger than Dante had ever seen.
Abby: “He’s at the Rocky Springs on Beyblue Island. You might want to get a horse and carriage. That’s a good 100 miles from here. It’s gonna take you boys a couple days assuming you run into danger. Your friend is probably already dead anyways though, so a couple days won’t hurt.”
Dante didn’t really care about anything but his family, however Lucky and Astro have helped him a lot so far and he respected them both. He had too much pride to keep his mouth shut. “Hey! You can live in fear all you want, but don’t go putting dirt on people’s lives. Lucky had a dream and he stuck by his values. He may not be smart and may be struggling inside, but in my eyes, he has more merit than a stupid witch that hides in a crevice because she’s too afraid to fix herself.”
Abby: “W-Why you! I’ll show you what merit is. Defect Chaple–”
Astro stuck his scythe out at Abby. “He didn’t mean that. He’s just worried about his friend. Thanks for your help. We’ll be on our way.”
“As long as I get my payment, there is no problem. Right, Astro?” she said seductively yet again.
“Yeah, yeah. Whatever. I’ll see you in a week…If I survive,” he mumbled as they both walked out the door.
