Chapter 18:

The Night

Myriad Variations

[Few hours before dusk//Rock Outskirts Basil Port]

The smoke wasn't completely dissipated yet, as with little vision he could see his father, stuck with his shield into the ground, he was a little far away, but still couldn't seem to help, hoping his father being such a good adventurer to handle himself in situations like this, but just the sight couldn't let our boy stand still, yet not a moment later another wyvern pounced on Kyle from the side.

Deflecting it's claws with a single parry,  it was Kyle's first time letting his hardworking be used and turn out to be helpful at such certain scenarios. The deflection was huge as it seemed the enchantments on the Shield were working, Kyle being yet of such small stature could never have possibly deflected such an intense yet quick blow on its own if isn't it for his regular contineous training with his father and enchantments provided by his mother.

Yet the draconic creature did not bulge from its spot a single bit, staying still, a little flinch was all Kyle could do with his mear strength. Yet again a second attack rushed our boy, readying up to partying again, yet it seemed slower than the last one.

Soon to notice there were translucent vines holding the wyvern on its spot it seemed, as Alicia stood in the dust beside, it was Alicia who must have casted the binding spell now slowing the wyvern, yet for a bit, taking the advantage it seemed for Kyle to be useful at such time, Kyle dashed up ahead into the air facing upfront face to face with the wyvern, dodging it's slowed down attack, as to which pulling out a few green mana stones from his pocket and crushing them with his bear hands as he conjured a quick cast of death willows.

His arm engulphed in deep green mana now took form of a claw, as large as in comparison to the wyvern itself, soon he clawed down the creature's head in half as it seemed, the skills and powers he had obtained were an absolute site to behold, the creature soon had fallen with its head apart.

Quickly looking back at his father, our boy noticed he had dodged the wyvern attack now with the shield in the wyvern leg stuck still, his father rushed from behind, with his mear fists lighting up golden with an golden light spell, as he launched a blow just to get blasted away by the wyvern's tail flying onto a shrub nearby.

The wyvern seemed angered now roaring again, but soon a silver blast conjured by Alicia het his back again on the same spot where his father had landed the hit earlier. Flinching heavily from the silver blast the wyvern tried to fly away as it seemed but then is when Kyle remembered what his father had said about wyverns....

"When hunting wyverns never let a pack member heavily wounded run away, it is for our and their own good to finish the battle there and then itself, as the wounded might again call for others creating a situation lethal for anyone".

As with what the moment suggested, Kyle took his shield, and pulling out another mana stone from his pocket crushed it on the shield within that mear second, now quick as he grabbed the shield with his dominant hand, and aiming upfront engulfing it in dark flames, launching a crescent shaped blast with the shield in the middle with swift.

It projectiled towards the wyvern swiftly gaining speed and power as it hit hard on the wyvern's abdomen, indulging itself well within as the wyvern flying up slowly fell on the sharp rocks under.

Both of them soon rushed towards Luke, hoping he was doing fine as it seemed, he was laying in the shrubs laughing off thinking what a day it has been.

"Well, are you okay" cried Kyle hurrying towards Luke sitting beside checking for any wounds.

"Are you getting old or something, letting a wyvern hit you with it's tail, it was for the chainmail you wore on the inside you survived such a lethal blow" Alicia cried a little angered, a little worried.

"Ehh I'm fine I'm fine no worries, the dust made it hard for noticing the tail and that's it, sorry for worrying you guys, but did you notice, our boy Alicia, his first wyvern hunting and he still kills a lot!" Luke replied trying to get up in pained voice..

" Well yes, he really did a number, but really we weren't expecting a surprise attack, when we were to surprise them with an attack. And show me you abdomen, any broken ribs? " Alicia started with an agreed manner soon checking away..

"Soo this was how hunting's done it's very intense as to how they attack, they really do pack some power for mountainous lizards" Kyle replied exhausting himself up..

"Well yes but we got surprise attacked out of nowhere and my shield got stuck, this is something which didn't happen many times before..." Luke relies as they stand and travel towards their bags, looking or potions.

As with what the dust seemed to dissapate completely, now is what remained were the bodies of the wyvern's at varied spots all around the place as it seemed...

Soon patching themselves up, three of them decided to loot the bodies for materials they came for as teaching Kyle what's important and how to get it out with damage most of it.

Soon collecting, wyvern tail spikes, the hide on it back the amount they could carry and it's mana stones located well within their hearts, they soon collected all what they had got and packed it up in a proper way, wrapping and pouching the stones as they planned to move back. It was sunset the time when the Forrest seemed to turn dangerous they should move as quickly as possible with their baggage as leaving the spot while others might arrive.

As they walked through the forrest the winds turned cool and humid as it seemed, their baggage was now twice the weight it originally was, they to pass by in hurry as the Forrest turn dark by each second, all three of them being cautious of what and where they were walking, Luke had already created light flies which roamed a little ahead and behind of them as they walking, a little but illuminating the path, too much light might attract attention as it seemed.

Through the Forrest they seem to finds lights of torches yet again calmingly standing as a group of knight stayed, hoping to not disturb anyone of them, the three of they soon followed their path out of the place to the Basil port Outskirts, Kyle was a little sad he wanted to visit the dungeons but it was a little late, now hoping to visit this place once again, he stopped thinking of it and followed his parents.

It was nice seeing the light illuminating the path as they walked towards the town, which was itself shining bright shades of orange by the lights of the multiple torches.

Hustle and bustle was all it could be describes as the town was up in lights noise and delicious smells. There seemed to be a festival which would come up the following days, the voices were loud as the vendors stayed on the shops still selling.

Many travelers still seem to be visiting, the port town was still felt alive yet at night.

Hoping to find a good place for dinner all of them moved towards the town square in the middle, finding a good spot for staying the night and also delicious dinner.

A cool silent place with a few customers still bright with lanterns, stood right at the center of their view, they hoped to find the spot worth while as the dinner below seemed to send aromas of whatnot everywhere they walked.

They soon planned to stay there for the night as Luke was sent with loads of heavy loot to the guild to finish up the paperwork as Alicia and Kyle entered the place, reserving a room.

They soon approached the the counter, a large person with heavy stature, a demi human stood there greeting in awfully gentle manner asking for reservations and food. As they confermed the spot, a silver key was handed to them as a number wrote onto it.

[59]

The attended showed them the way towards their room, as they entered inside, the room was quiet normal a place to reside, the beds were comfortable as there was even a bathroom just outside. The view from the window

Yet for a single night was nothing but beautiful for them to admire, a crowd with various outlooks as they gazed, various vendors, all kinds of festivies were seem to be in the air, there bards singing on certain spots the crowds chearing as they watched, a person with lute played hight tone songs as the other with hurdy gurdy tranced in the back, flowing with the flow.

Yet as they gazed through the windows, a sad looking blonde exhausted man came walking with empty bags, as he snagged all over looking below walking slowly finding its way into the unknown..

"Alicia, It's Dad look at him soo sad, I said to you already I should have gone with him, now look at him" Kyle cried with sense of worry...

"Ahh you know he's always like that, don't think of it too much, let's just take him to the dinner, a favorite drink in his hand and delicious food in front of him and his back to normal.. Bet?", Alicia said without a hint of worry on her face...

"Alright, Alright let's go get him before he decides to stay and spent his rest of the night on the streets". Kyle replied relieved of his worries but just a little.

As they moved below slowly opneaning the dorr to outside, as finding for Luke, as Kyle ran towards him and took his hand with his small hands. As pulling him away from the all depression he was facing. Soon as they moved towards the dinner finding a good spot and we're ready to order, all being exhausted and starved, a nice meal and a soft bed was all they could think of, as soon they ordered what they thought to be the local specialties.

The lanterns were bright out side, the seemed to turn full in a few day as the cold humid breezes flew along from the windows with gentle, sound sounds of waves rumbling at a distance as various songs of bards were yet not finished, the place was never seeming to leave of its livelyness and was beaming with upbeat as it seemed.
