Chapter 26:
ON THE LOOKOUT
STAR AWESOME
Ren’s eyes followed the trail of glitter Philomena left behind. She landed not too far away, so he was able to see her subtly.
I wish I were more reliable.
He thought for a split second, not enough to actually have an impact on him. He shrugged and turned around to go back. But bumped into Nami.
“Ouch,” she rubbed her nose, “Ren, didn’t you hear me come?”
“I didn’t-“ Ren slightly bent, assessing if she was hurt. He leaned closer, but a sudden recollection of the bullying crossed his mind, so he moved away.
She looked towards Philomena and Yuzuru, “What's going on there?”
“Philomena went to help Yuzuru…” Ren noticed her expressions change into worry, “But we can’t help, Philomena said so.”
“Oh,” She gawked at the faraway silhouettes, narrowing her eyes. She spoke softly, “I think there is a demon there.”
Why did they create a dome around themselves? The third person vanished, so it must be okay now.
Ren noticed a tug against his shirt, and he looked down to see Nami clenching his shirt.
“Is everything okay?” Ren asked nervously.
She shook her head, slowly pointing at the unseen horizon. “Demons are coming, lots of them.”
Ren’s breath hitched, “What about those two?”
She tightened her grip.
From the distant skyline, darkness emerged, like a swamp of locusts, traveling along the lilac sky. Hiding away the stars. Ren clamped his head in his hand, staring at the sand.
B-but Amanda said Star Awesome camp won't be targeted. She said if we camp on the East, we’ll be s-safe. What if she is already d-defeated? at least the shield is still around us.
“We’ll be okay, not like we can die.” She touched Ren’s cold hands with her warm ones. Filling the uneasiness with her warmth.
The darkness engulfed the dome with Yuzuru and Philomena. Making its way towards the campsite.
We should wake up others.
“What’s that?” A blond guy lifted the tent’s cover and walked out.
“Jacksaw, that darkness, those are demons.” Nami pointed at the darkness.
“D-do we have to fight that?” A brown haired guy peeped out of the tent and slowly strolled behind Jacksaw.
“I guess so, Macabre.” Nami looked at the darkness and back at him.
Jacksaw walked up to Ren and Nami while Macabre stopped halfway and sat down on the sand, “I-I don’t feel like it.”
*Thud thud*
“W-what the-?” Ren turned to face him.The man trembled, crying out loud, “T-this darkness will engulf me.” He looked around, his body illuminating ripples due to constant pressure against the shield. “H-how do I come in?”
Ren walked closer to him, “I-I don’t know......” The man’s lips were cracked open from fear. Ren bit his lip, “who are you?”
“I-I am a Star Awesome member!” He placed his hands against the shield, “I-I am scared.”
Ren turned around to face the other three. They stared at the man, and then at each other.
Jacksaw walked closer towards him, “Y-you can’t be here.”
He peeped at Nami, shrugging as he scanned back at him.Nami pressed her lips, “I can’t tell for sure b-because of the surrounding d-demons.”
Jacksaw sighed and smirked at that man, “Well, Nandru, stay there, not like we die forever!”
He walked back and sat down with Macabre.They- they can’t just ignore him.
Nandru’s hands slid down, as tears streamed down his pale face. His body shivered in fear whilst the darkness closed in on him. Ren gawked at Nandru; he felt nauseated.
This is unfair, he is afraid, why are they behaving like this…..
But he might be an imposter, but he is still in need of help….
Nandru lifted his quivering hand and once again placed it on the shield, “T-thank you..”
From the other side, Ren placed his hand on the shield. Ren noticed Nandru had beautiful eyes shimmering in tears.
“I never liked that man.” Jacksaw parted his lips, staring at Nandru with his cold, yellow eyes. “Seeing him die will be fun.”
Seeing him die will be fun… the voice echoed in Ren’s mind.
He clenched his hands.

Ren sighed. It’s annoying to see they behave this nonchalantly.*Thud thud*

Jacksaw sighed and smirked at that man, “Well, Nandru, stay there, not like we die forever!”
He walked back and sat down with Macabre.They- they can’t just ignore him.
Nandru’s hands slid down, as tears streamed down his pale face. His body shivered in fear whilst the darkness closed in on him. Ren gawked at Nandru; he felt nauseated.
This is unfair, he is afraid, why are they behaving like this…..

“I never liked that man.” Jacksaw parted his lips, staring at Nandru with his cold, yellow eyes. “Seeing him die will be fun.”
Seeing him die will be fun… the voice echoed in Ren’s mind.
He clenched his hands.
Ripples formed around his fingers from where they bent out.
Nandru gently grabbed the middle finger.
Slowly pulling on it with a firm grip.
Ren confusingly looked at Nandru, who smiled softly while tilting his head.
His shimmering eyes made Ren feel at ease, Beautiful.
“What's the newbie up to?” Jacksaw glanced at Nami.
“I-I don’t know, I can’t see.” She looked at his back and took a few steps towards him.
Nandru drew out Ren’s whole hand, clasping their hands together.
Slowly interlocking their fingers.
Ren remained lost in his eyes to even notice.
Nandru tightened his grip.
“Nandru is holding...... his.......hand...” Nami’s eyes widened.
“what the...” Jacksaw got up and tried to grab Ren but before he could Nandru yanked Ren out.
Beautiful.....

huh?Ren felt a sudden pull, bringing him back to his senses. His hands rested on the sand, he glanced up at Nandru who stood smiling next to him.
“D-did you come in?” Ren gave him a mild smile.
Nandru sat down, tenderly cupping his face, “No, Human you are outside.”
“I-I don’t know, I can’t see.” She looked at his back and took a few steps towards him.
Nandru drew out Ren’s whole hand, clasping their hands together.
Slowly interlocking their fingers.
Ren remained lost in his eyes to even notice.
Nandru tightened his grip.
“Nandru is holding...... his.......hand...” Nami’s eyes widened.
“what the...” Jacksaw got up and tried to grab Ren but before he could Nandru yanked Ren out.
