Chapter 4:
The Noob's Isekai
“Easy there, you little soul”
“What do you think you are doing, splitting yourself into two”
“At this rate, you won’t be able to keep your existence intact for long.”
Monowi then realizes, what he was actually doing. He then calms himself and merges back into his original light form.
“So, I really died… and you are”
The voice interrupted, “Before you jump to conclusions, let me be clear. I am an angel sent by GOD to guide you and nothing more than that.”
The angel’s voice carried authority, yet the words that came out showed humbleness. Monowi knew, at this moment, that things had already taken a serious turn.
The angel continued: “My presence is made visible to you only after I have covered myself in thousand veils.”
A pause hung in the air, heavy and deliberate.
“Now that I have introduced myself, I should convey the message for which I have been sent here in the first place. You may have doubts and questions, so I am giving you a chance to ask. But remember to keep your words precise and short.”
Monowi then thought of something and asked his first question:
“Why is it that I am given a chance?”
The aura of the angel softened as rejoicing over something.
“True, as GOD said, humans are gifted with remarkable intelligence.”
The voice then shifted back to its firm, commanding tone:
“And to answer your question, there are mainly two reasons. First is you”
“And second is a subtle one, but still, I will convey it to you. You being atheist, and keeping your religious talks to only yourself throughout your life”
“I beg your pardon, but I am unable to understand your point”, said Monowi.
“I said you were atheist.”, the angel replied. “You didn’t participate in any religious affairs while alive”
The angel paused for a few moments before continuing
“GOD is one and does not like to be partnered or compared with anyone. That point alone saved you from doom. But the other point is what brought you here”
“I am assuming… myself”, Monowi murmured.
“Yes. Can you answer a simple question?”
“I will try my best”
“Why did you want to learn hacking in the first place?”
“It was my dream to become a hacker, to achieve greatness in what is impossible to comprehend.”
“Your time here is short. If you want answers, be honest.”
Monowi feigned ignorance, but deep down he knew what he truly wanted. Without a second thought, he replied:
“I wanted everything, though not everything necessarily had to be mine.”
Monowi’s light felt a great hush, as a layer of pressure has been pushed into it.
“SO, you don’t want to admit. Let me snap you out of your delusion”, said the angel, the voice growing heavier with every word.
The angel continued: “You wanted a fantasy, but never had the courage to go for it with effort and pain. You were seeking a shortcut. Or to put it bitterly, you were trying to escape the reality you were given.”
Every word struck Monowi like a stone hurled at him, threatening to shatter his very existence. But the angel didn’t stop there.
“You didn’t accept, what was given to you. You weren’t an exception. But you did become one when you stopped caring about the reality of others to pursue your own.”
There was a long pause after the angel’s words, a silence with no measure of time.
Finally, Monowi spoke. His voice trembled, so shaky it could almost be mistaken for weeping.
“I… I was a human. You may have been observing us, but you don’t know the emotions of human. GOD may have known them, but still, we are what we are. I had insecurities…… I felt fear…… I felt pain, danger, crisis…… I felt terrified, terrorized…… I felt envy, shame, longing…… I felt… I felt a lot of things. And yet, this was the life I had. Still, I didn’t stop struggling. I held onto my morals, my principles, because I knew life isn’t straight. It is twisted like us humans”.
After the confession, it seemed Monowi had spent all the confidence, courage, and resilience that he built in his lifetime. His soul flickered weakly; reduced to the fragile glow of one truly dead.
There was a long pause before the angel spoke again:
“I had thought you would be more willing to accept yourself after being confronted with your reality. But it seems unlikely. The more I push you, the more excuses you create; excuses to escape from what is true…” The angel paused briefly. “Alright then, it is decided.”
Before angel could speak further, Monowi panicked and interrupted.
“What is decided? What-What are you trying to say? What is going to happen to me”.
His voice trembled with desperation, as if certain doom stood directly before him after this confrontation.
“Compose yourself”, said the angel in a stern voice that shook Monowi to his core.
“Do not be so hasty. I am still declaring your incoming fate, one that is neither good nor bad, but the same as you had in your life before.”
A pause followed.
“You are going to live a second life, to understand its value and to gain acceptance of yourself. This life you live will be in an imaginary world, which is not reality, yet it will be reality to you. Now you have died already, and know that God is one. So, you must not do anything to associate or make a partner to GOD. If you do, then after this life ends, you will find yourself in the Hell’s Pit.”
Then the angel points at some direction. Monowi follows that gesture, and the moment his eyes met the sight, he started screaming uncontrollably not knowing, what he was doing or why. The view he saw was so terrifying, there could be no doubt, what he was looking at was Hell’s Pit.
The angel called out in a commanding voice, using his full name.
“Monowi Moboya”
The name struck him, forcing his attention back.
“Now you know, that there is despair and fear. So, you should worry about what is about to come. Before I send you, I will ask, do you wish to change your physical form for entering this world? Or do you already have something in mind? I will accept all of your propositions regarding this. And you may ask your final questions now.”
After hearing that he was safe, Monowi felt a wave of relief wash over him. The vision of hell’s pit still lingered in his mind, and desperate to steer the conversation away from that terrifying sight, he spoke with a touch of hesitation.
“I – I would like to keep my old appearance, despite how I looked”.
Monowi knew well that his physique had never been very impressive while alive, and nor his features remarkable. At twenty-seven, he had stood shorter than most men his age. He had not been athletic, nor especially attractive.
Angel: “Are you sure? Once you choose, you will not be able to change. And what about your beginning in that world? Would you like to reincarnate, or would you prefer to be directly transported there? Of course, it would be the same condition in which you died, only with full recovery and no injury”.
“It is very generous of you to care about my choice,” Monowi replied, his tone steadier now. “But I will take you up on this offer. I confirm it with my heart and soul: I want to be transported to that world in the same condition in which I died, and just as you said, with full recovery and no injury. I have lived long enough to grow accustomed to my body… and I liked my body the way it was.”
The angel’s aura softened at Monowi’s words. Then the angel spoke:
“You are learning, and that is a good start, very well. Now that you have truly accepted your physical appearance this time, so I will grant you a little head start. I will enhance your intelligence and strengthen your body’s attributes, a little bit more than the average person in your next life.”
The angel stopped in between to see if Monowi wanted to say anything, but then again continued,
“This will not change your physical appearance or make you more attractive, but it will allow to manage yourself more effectively and wisely.”
There was another pause as Monowi took a moment to catch up with what the angel had just said.
“We are now done here,” the angel said. “Any last questions?”
“Well, there is one thing that intrigues me,” Monowi replied. “What is this imaginary world I am going to, and how is it different from my own?”
The angel’s voice deepened, as though speaking from a vast distance:
“There are many worlds, each with lifeforms beyond your imagination. But imaginary worlds are different. They are not born of nature, but of conviction—sprouting from a belief so strong it takes form. They exist far from the light, in the realm of imagination. Some may resemble your own, but the truth of them… you will discover only by living there.”
“That is all I can think of now,” Monowi replied.
“Then we shall begin your descent,” said the angel. “And next time we meet, I hope it will be in better circumstances. Farewell, and good luck in your upcoming life. Remember this: there is no such thing as a twisted life. There is only the right way and the wrong way to live—and then, there is life itself.”
With that, Monowi’s consciousness faded, awaiting his new beginning…
