Sunsets are always the same

“How many obelisks are left?”

Alexander looked at the map, we already had a ton of x’s. There were only three locations on the map left around, and we were getting to one in the carriage.

“It’s been almost a month since we go out, but it feels like a ton has passed”

“Only two locations left after this one… have you decided what you are going to do, Ryu?”

Alexander asked me, I looked at Elizabeth and she just looked away.

“If you want to go to your world, Ryu, I am not stopping you… but… like I said before, I cannot lie and I want to be with you… forever…”

“Enough blushing and love in the air!”

Beatrice shouted and made Elizabeth get all red.

“We already left our thoughts on you, Ryu, do what you got to do but don’t regret it, that’s the worst thing you can possibly do”

I nodded

“I will think about it, thank you guys”

Beatrice and Alexander thumb me up as I look at Elizabeth, she only nodded and we saw the way ahead of us, the next location was in the sea, as we got ready, Alexander stayed behind.

“Are you sure you don’t want to come with us?”

“Someone has to take care of these guys, there isn’t a single town in here so I need to be with them”

“Got it, I’ll make sure to have that obelisk written down for you”

Alexander nodded and we bumped our fists and we went ahead, only equipped with our weapons and our underwear, Beatrice was casting a spell and we dived into the ocean. She had a burble protecting her book and a light inside of it so we could see around.

The spelled protect our eyes and made our lungs hold more oxygen, we were only at the start of it so we didn’t see much, but when we got a little deeper, that’s when the beauty appeared, a ton of fishes, seashells, sea rocks, everything in our surroundings was colorful and at the same time scary.

I pointed to a structure that was nearby, probably the only point around here, but when we dive to it, it was just rocks, making the structure of a pillar, nature sure is tricky.

How am I even going to write down what is in here if the obelisk is below water?

That’s one of the thoughts that crossed my mind, so I better have a good memory for it. We dive more and we saw how the fishes swim around and some of them hit us and then went on their way, Elizabeth was admiring them with bright eyes and Beatrice was trying to touch them.

We got plenty of oxygen to look around, and when I thought I could get a little fun, I saw a crack followed by a tunnel, I move my hand and made sure the other two look at me and I entered the tunnel, as we went into the tunnel we spend almost ten minutes on it until we saw the darkness around, when Beatrice go with us, we could see around, it was filled with fished too, we went ahead and we saw how a giant hole was on it, I was going to go down but Elizabeth stopped me, pointing at another location, one where another tunnel was seen.

When we got to the tunnel, we emerged from the water and looked around. A cave with water dropping from stalactites, I took out my sword and while Beatrice was lighting the please up, she made the orb of light go around.

There are little holes with what on them but when I try to walk around them, I fall, Beatrice and Elizabeth help me out since I got stuck on it, I sighed and looked around.

“Are caves like this common?”

“I cannot say, after all, this is the first underwater cave I have ever seen”

“I have read about them but they are always so mysterious, how is that a piece of land below the water is capable of having such space without being well, without water”

As we went ahead, we reach the end of the path and we saw the obelisk, still with the same letters of this world, Elizabeth sighed and I bump her arm, she smiled at me as I winked at her, we got close to the obelisk and the following was written on it:

"I have always wanted to explore under the sea, but at my current level, I am incapable of it, maybe in the future they would make something or magic will get stronger so we can see the deepest of the ocean, my party help me out a lot in here, I almost drowned, and for that I am thankful for having them"

“The ocean sure is interesting, even with the things they explore, it seems that they would never be able to reach the true mystery of this world, below the seas…”

“Has your world explored the oceans?”

“Until certain point”

“What kind of magic do they use?”

“In my world, magic doesn’t exist”

I sit down and lean against the obelisk.

“In my world, the greatest creations are machines, machines that help us in the day by day, we got different types for example, instead of having horses, we had a mechanism that made the carriage go on its own with a specific type of liquid, and for floating, we have a structure that is like a bird, where people can get inside and be transported to a lot of locations around the world”

“Like a teleporter…”

“You could say that, Beatrice”

I was drawing an airplane and a car with my sword in the cave, and they were listening as if I was the inventor of these things.

“You think it is possible to make those things here?”

“I suppose they could make them in here, but I am not sure, I am not the inventor of this machines”

“That’s a shame, but maybe we won’t need them, we have magic after all”

“That’s true, for me, magic is more interesting than machines, but that’s only because I am used to seeing them, I see that you are having quite the interest for this machinery, but at the same time you want to stick with what you have”

“A-Am I hearing the same person?”

Elizabeth held her head and Beatrice laughed at her.

“I am not used to Ryu talking like this, shut up!”

“It’s only because I am new in here, honestly I am as dumb as you, Liz”

“Don’t call me dumb!”

I laugh along with Beatrice but Elizabeth started to pitch my checks as I kept laughing.

“You are mean!”

“Forgive me, teasing you is hilarious, you are really cute when you are like that”

“M-My! What are you saying?!”

“Enough lovebirds, let’s write this down and comeback with Alexander”

Elizabeth and I nodded and while Beatrice was writing down the obelisk in a sheet from his book, we sat at the start of the cave.

“You think the traveler missed her friends?”

“Are you asking me if I will miss you?”

“Yeah… I will miss you a lot if you go… I don’t know what am I even going to do”

“What do you mean? Are you not being helped by Alex and Beatrice? What about those two?”

“I know it is not okay to say that but, they are not on the same level as you in my heart…”

I smiled at Elizabeth and Beatrice was clapping while approaching us.

“That really hurts, Elizabeth, who knows what am I even going to do with Ryu is gone!”

Beatrice was teasing Elizabeth and both of them laughed, she looked at me and looked down.

“But is true, at least for me, you are the one that made me go in this adventure, Ryu, honestly it is sad to think you are going to leave if you do, but that is the decision you need to make”

“I am not taking all the responsibility for that, the culprit for this is Elizabeth. She opened my eyes when I talked with Alexander and when we gave him a chance to be with us”

“That…”

“We all had our connections already, we are a team, don’t we? The wanderers of adventures”

We all nodded and we went through the tunnel again, when we got into the surface, the sun was about to set down and Alexander was waving from the distance, we wave our hands back and we go out of the water, I stayed behind a little bit seeing the sunset and I couldn’t help but to sit down to contemplate the sunset, all of my friends came with me and admire the sunset, the view of the ocean reflecting the sun as it goes down is something that doesn’t change even if I am in another world.
