Chapter 4:

How Do We Find a Demon Lord?

The Hero Has No Interest in The Girls in His Party

Terry was introduced to the group of girls that Kiwi had decided to be part of the group to fight the Demon Lord. Apparently, the pink hair Pear was a highly skilled healer, able to use her magic to heal any injury. Though Terry agreed that having someone who could provide care to any injured team member, he could do without Pear’s odd quirks. In the span of ten minutes Pear had flashed her undergarments far too many times for Tery’s comfort. ‘Note to self,’ Terry thought, ‘buy this girl some pants.’

Avocado was a multi skilled fighter. Not only had she mastered hand to hand combat but she was also skilled in swords, spears, and archery. She was also standing far to close to Terry and had been repeatably asking him to spar with her. Terry had no siblings but he wondered if this is what it felt to have younger sister, an energetic and loud younger sister.

Terry already knew Blueberry was captain of the royal knights so he was no that surprised to see her in the group. However, Blueberry’s pale and frightened expression made him feel uneasy. He wondered if she was going to be okay to fight, let alone travel with them.

Princess Kiwi had given herself the role of mage in the groups party, despite that fact that he could use magic as well and seemed to be far better at it than her. Kiwi pointed her magic staff at Terry. “Since I have the role of the group’s mage, you can find other ways to make yourself useful ‘Hero’. You know, so you’re not a burden to the rest of us.” Terry wanted to tell the Princess were where she could stick that staff but she continued. “That means we don’t need you either Potato.”

Potato had been mostly quite for a while, mostly just lazily hanging on Terry’s shoulder as his furry companion. Terry looked at him expecting him to argue why he should be on the team, but he said nothing. Terry defiantly did not want to be left alone with this group of oddball girls, so he spoke up. “Actually, Potao will be joining us.”

Princess Kiwi looked like she was ready to argue. “I have no complaints about the team you ‘ve put together but as the Hero I should have final say of who is on my team, and I trust Potato.” Potato puts his hand to his furry chest.

“Aww, you do like me.”

“That being said, if he proves to not be useful, I will feed him to an owl.”

Potato mocks a shocked expression but Terry ignores it. Kiwi looks as if she is going to argue but closes her mouth and smiles. “Fine, have it your way ‘Hero’.” And just like that, same day Terry was summoned to this world, he set out to defeat the Demon Lord.

-----------------

It took half day for the group to leave the castle grounds of Kalabash and half a hour after that, they started fighting. “What do you mean, you don’t know where the Demon King is!?” Terry yells at the group after they had admitted they had no idea where they were all going. Kiwi rolled her eyes “Well, it’s not like the Demon Lord sent us a map to his kingdom. Relax ‘Hero’ if we just keep going straight, we’re bound to get somewhere.”

“Where? The ocean?!” Terry rubbed his hands over her face and took in the group’s surroundings. They were currently surrounded by large woods just out side on the kingdom. Perhaps there was a village close by the group could find but that still didn’t solve the problem that no one knew where they were all going. “Do you have any input here?” Terry asked Potato.

“Find a demon.” He said, like it was the easiest thing in the world. When Terry had no response, Potato continued. “If we can find a demon and beat but keep it alive. We can try to get information from it and possibly use it to find where the Demon Lord is.”

“Demons can talk?”

“Some do.”

This did nothing to ease Terry’s worries, “Yeah, it’s really that simple. Like a demon going to appear out of nowhere.”

At that moment a loud crash was heard nearby and the group turned to see a large cloud of smoke just beyond the trees ahead of them. At first the group was quite and looked at each other. Before Terry could say anything Avocado ran in the direction of the smoke and yelled, “FINALLY!”
