Chapter 35:
Kitezh the Invisible Phenomenon
Two days have passed since the incident at the barracks of Bursztyn. Kitezh and her acquaintances have mostly recovered. Physically, yes, because it’s a world where magic can heal people at an accelerated rate compared to Earth. Mentally, some rehabilitation was still needed.
That’s why they have all decided to travel to the beach! Sikalaki was the resort city where members of the guild all loved to visit for leisure. And now, Kitezh and the others were visiting in true fanservicey ways!
“Hopefully, we still have enough money by the end of this. I still have a second payment to make to my lawyer after the lawsuit,” said Marigold, as she stepped off the train.
Did you think they were celebrating the defeat of Grigori? No, they were actually celebrating for freeing Marigold from conviction.
Back during the battle against Grigori, Marigold was alone in a hospice. One of the guards entered her room, fearing that she would try to interfere with Grigori's fight. However, unlike the other guards, this one never had any body parts swapped.
Marigold instinctively attacked the guard using magic anyway. More specifically, she used her electric magic until he had a cardiac arrest. It was the only casualty that couldn’t be claimed as fighting subjects of the Demon Lord.
Fortunately for Marigold, that guard specifically had a record of multiple sexual assaults. Not a record on paper, but there were enough women who spoke out about his actions and helped Marigold’s defense. However, a handful were lying through bribery. Marigold was lucky that no one called that out.
Either way, Marigold won the case by claiming self-defense, and now she and the others are at the beach resort for relaxation.
“It has come to my realization that despite being the only male in this group, having a harem is more annoying than I thought,” Frigyes said, making sure it was within earshot of the others.
“Frigyes, come on! I picked out this swimsuit so you can see how cute I am! You can tell me how to pose in front of you.” Marigold said cheerfully, showing off her frilly red bikini.
“I'm not doing that at a public beach like this!”
“Oh, hehehe. So you want me to pose something more scandalous in a secluded area?”
“What? I mean, no!”
“We said we were going to the beach. You should’ve prepared yourself for the awkward conversations we would have with you,” Jadwiga said, walking by to make sure Frigyes saw her black bikini.
“Nadia knows how not to make things awkward,” Frigyes replied
“That’s because she knows how to put on a facade to get a reaction from you.”
“I’m never putting on a fake act, and yet Frigyes has no interest in my outfit,” said Marigold, sulking.
“Sorry to keep you waiting. My bikini was just so small. It was hard to make it fit around my boobs and butt.”
Nadia arrived wearing a very revealing bikini.
“Nadia, you didn’t even test it at the store. You just went straight to picking the smallest bikini you saw there,” said Jadwiga.
“And she already knew what was going to look perfect on her. She’s such a genius!” swooned Frigyes, shoving Jadwiga aside.
“Ohoho, maybe you’re just realizing you made the wrong decision for your outfit, Jadwiga. You chose a two-piece suit that still covers your butt,” said Nadia, as she awkwardly flaunted.
"Where is Kitezh? Is she still in the changing room?" asked Marigold.
"Hold on, why did Kitezh need to go to a changing room? Can't she just turn herself invisible and change her clothes anywhere she wants?" questioned Frigyes.
“Here comes Kitezh!” Marigold pointed out.
Nadia and Frigyes turned around to see Kitezh's swimsuit.
“Oh, as if she’s going to have more to offer- HUH?!”
“Are we ready to find a place to- HUH?!”
Kitezh and Nadia both eyed the outfits they were wearing.
“Kitezh and Nadia both picked out the exact same swimsuits!” exclaimed Frigyes.
“Yet Kitezh has a more petite physique that fits better! Nadia’s big butt just eats up the backside,” explained Marigold, as she pinched Nadia’s butt.
“Kitezh, you can’t do that. That’s cheating!” shouted an irate Nadia.
“Since when was this a competition? I thought the outfit looked cute, and bought it,” said Kitezh.
“Cute?! That’s meant to look sexy! You have blind taste in looks!”
“Maybe that swimsuit doesn’t make you look sexy.”
“What now?! Fine, I’ll adjust it and you'll see what looks sexy!”
RIP!
One of the “strings” tore apart on Nadia’s swimsuit, making her “sexier”.
“Ohoho, I’ll be right back. I’ll come back sexier than you, Kitezh!” laughed Nadia, running off to the changing rooms.
“I want to go to the water now!” yelled Marigold.
“We haven’t even sat down yet,” said Frigyes.
“Uh… just let Kitezh and Jadwiga handle it, hehe,” Marigold responded nervously.
Marigold grabbed Frigyes’s arm and dragged him across the sand. Frigyes was stumbling as he tried to resist, but Marigold’s smaller body was able to pull him all the way to the water. Even passing the shoreline, and with sandals still on, the two of them frolicked through the water.
“Ah! Marigold, the water is cold, slow down! I don’t want to get wet just yet!”
“We’re still at the surface. The water is just at foot level.”
As both of them splashed through, Frigyes noticed something odd. His feet were wet, but it was ONLY his feet. Even though it was a beach, there were practically no waves. The water level was not getting any higher, no matter how much they ran.
“Uh, Marigold? I don’t think this sea is actually as deep as you think.”
“That’s why you just need to jump and get completely soaked. HA!”
Marigold let go of Frigyes’s arm and did a belly flop right into the water.
SPLASH!
“Owwwwww.”
Marigold’s body did not get completely soaked. She just face-planted against the sand bed at the kiddy-pool depth sea.
“This beach is lame,” said Frigyes disappointingly.
Meanwhile, Kitezh and Jadwiga were both stuck together, finding a place to set things up.
Kitezh kicked the ground. She realized the ground was not ordinary sand. It was almost the consistency of mud.
Kitezh looked at Jadwiga and darted her eyes away.
“I’m moving my towel over here. Maybe it would be less sticky,” Kitezh said shyly.
“I don’t mind where you sit,” said Jadwiga, without looking at her.
Kitezh walked away from Jadwiga, but found that no matter what, the ground was too muddy or too lumpy with hard dirt. She stuck with the latter.
“Jadwiga, I’m just going to put my towel down here.”
“Alright with me. I don’t care about lying there.”
Jadwiga decided to just lie down on the towel with mud underneath. Kitezh looked, but then paid no mind when she set her towel on the hard earth. Both laid their own territories in silence.
“Kitezh, is this my towel? I’ll lie down for a bit.”
BONK!
“OW!”
Nadia arrived and sat next to Kitezh. Though she did it in such haste that she hit her arm really hard against what she thought would be soft sand underneath.
“I picked up a menu from the bar. You can choose whichever drinks you want. Though they don’t really give the ingredients, so you have to figure it out based on the funny names of each drink,” said Nadia, handing a menu to Kitezh
“Snakes in the pickle? Hemorrhoid swords? I will pass, but I know my curiosity will get to me in about two hours,” said Kitezh.
“Maybe Jadwiga wants something. You can give the menu to her.”
Kitezh looked at Jadwiga and said nothing. She handed the menu back to Nadia.
“I would feel more comfortable if you gave the menu to her yourself,” said Kitezh.
Nadia just looked at Kitezh, and smiled as she took the menu from her hand. She tossed it over to Jadwiga like a Frisbee. Jadwiga just stared at the menu in confusion, the same way Kitezh had no clue what any of the terms on the menu meant.
“Kitezh, don’t go into the water. It sucks!” said Frigyes.
Marigold was waddling next to him. She was carrying something in her cupped hands.
“Look at all these cool jellyfish I found in the water,” said Marigold.
Marigold's hands were full of clear, pinkish blobs.
"Marigold, get rid of those jellyfish right now!" Jadwiga said, almost like she couldn't believe she had to tell this to her.
"Okay!"
PLOP!
Marigold casually spilled all the jellyfish on the sand right in front of everyone.
"I meant put them back in- ugh, never mind," Jadwiga facepalmed.
"Hehehe, this feels weird on my feet!" Marigold giggled as she stepped on the jellyfish blobs on the ground.
"Kitezh, you're better at dealing with this. Can you get rid of the jellyfish and make Marigold stop whatever the hell she's doing?" asked Frigyes.
"Jadwiga is the one who is more concerned. Those tasks are up to her," Kitezh said apathetically.
Nadia was still concerned about Kitezh’s behavior towards Jadwiga. She pulled over Frigyes for some help.
“Frigyes, you could use ANYTHING as a weapon, right?” she asked seductively.
“Hell yeah, but why are you asking this now?”
Nadia pulled out a beach umbrella and whispered something into Frigyes’s ear. Frigyes smiled.
“Hey, Kitezh, wanna help pitch this umbrella here?” Frigyes asked Kitezh.
“Isn’t it a one-person job?” Kitezh asked, deliberately avoiding work.
“Uh, the ground! It’s like stone. So, I need someone to help break into it.”
“Alright, wimp,” said Kitezh casually.
“Wha- I just need a little help with this!”
Kitezh got up and grabbed the umbrella with Frigyes. They hovered it over the ground to plant it.
“The ground is pretty hard, so we really need to strike it down hard. Are you ready?”
Frigyes readied his hands around the umbrella. He gave a wink at Nadia.
“3, 2, 1…”
CHUNK!
“There, planted it firmly!” Frigyes said enthusiastically.
“Frigyes, I think you did it too hard,” said Kitezh.
The umbrella was shoved deep into the ground at a slanted angle. Kitezh also noticed something.
“Hold on, the tip of the umbrella is caught on my-“
FWOOSH!
Kitezh immediately felt something loosen up around her waist. Her cheeks turned rosy.
“Ah, you idiot! The umbrella was caught on the string of my bikini -HNG!”
“There, there, Kitezh! I will protect you from behind.”
Nadia immediately grabbed Kitezh from behind to hide her backside.
“Nadia, this would only be useful if you covered up MY FRONTSIDE TOO!”
“Don’t worry, I got you covered!” yelled Frigyes, and he jumped in front of Kitezh.
“Hrn, both of you get off of me!” Kitezh mumbled.
“And let the whole beach see you naked? Sure thing!” said Frigyes.
“No, wait! Ugh, just take me to the changing room!”
“Sure, thing!” said Nadia, winking at Frigyes, knowing that her plan worked.
