Episode 46: A world full of wonder

The dungeon on the other side of the gate was very similar in architecture and layout to the one previously traversed, and it was even smaller, suggesting that it was not used too much in the time of the mages of legend

Taro: (I’m surprised we can use our mana in this world, I wonder if it's just our natural reserve or if Earth also has mana, at least for now we can light our way in the dark)

Ari: I hear something, it also smells… I think the exit is near

Sidra: indeed, the air smells different

Nagye: umm, Taro, Shizuka, I w-want to learn more words from your language

Shizuka: oh? why so suddenly?

Nagye: well, since we’re on another world, th-they probably don't speak this language

Ari: oh true!, now we’re the brutes!, you gotta teach us the essentials fast, how do you say weapon in your language?

Taro: I don’t think weapon essential, in this world

Shizuka: right, people aren’t allowed to carry weapons around like in our other world

Ari: what? That's crazy, is it that peaceful?, or is it because there is a tyrant that doesn't want the people to throw him out?

Taro: uhh, both?

Shizuka: yeah, I’d say both, I don’t really know about politics, but I remember that on the news there was always crazy stuff happening all the time in other parts of the world

Nagye: the news?, you have news from all over the world? How do they do it? d-daily town meeting?

Sidra: the newspaper has to be an entire book every day

Taro: hehe, we have magic item, we see all the world, we have all knowledge, all books, in our hand

Sidra, Nagye, and Ari: what?!

Taro and Shizuka had fun blowing the minds of the girls with all the “magic” they had in their world.

After a while of walking, they finally found the light at the end of the dungeon, it was the exit, they all ran excitedly to find a view that was alien; the sky was of such a clear blue that it baffled even Taro and Shizuka who grew used to the turquoise sky of the other world, trees were recognizable, but evidently different, even the air had a different “taste”. After exploring around, they concluded to be in a remote point in the mountains.

Sidra: goddess gracious, this truly is a different world, everything’s so different, even the sky!

Nagye: so many things, and we just got here

Ari: you guys really need to teach me the language of this world, I feel like a brute already

Shizuka: “the language of this world”? hmmm, which one? hehehe

Ari: wha… do you mean there’s more than 1 language?!

Taro: yes, many language, many countries

Shizuka: “oui oui amigo” hehehehe

Taro: -oh, you speak French too? -

Shizuka: -no, that’s all I learned from TV hehehehe!-

Nagye: m-my head is gonna explode

Taro: oh, guys!, your mana, ok?, this is different world, perhaps mana is weird

Nagye: oh, th-that’s a good question, it would be bad if we were flying and we su-suddenly ran out of mana

the team focused on feeling their mana, they could feel it flowing in and out with their breath, just like in their other world

Shizuka: So, mana exists in this world too, haaaa, how crazy is that?, we always had mana and never used it

Ari: never used it?! how do people even… ugh, you know what, I’ll just let myself be surprised, or I’ll never stop asking questions

Sidra: wise decision indeed, we’ll never reach our destination if we just stand here in wonder

Nagye: we should get going then, before something unknown happens

Taro: yes, we fly and see what country is this place

the team rode their mana bruo and soared the skies, trying to find a landmark to orient themselves, they saw some human buildings, but they did not look like a town, it was a military base

Ari: So that's where the warriors live?, why don't we go? Perhaps they can help us!

Taro: uhh, don’t know, warriors in this world, different, they not nice!

Shizuka: yeah, if they see us flying, they might arrest us and try to steal our secrets by probing our heads! hehehe, -at least that’s what I saw in the movies-

Sidra: goddess gracious they do not sound friendly!

a fast object moved towards them, the roar of its engines startled and intimidated them, its color and form were unnatural and described the object as ominous and unwelcoming. It was a fighter jet. it flew close to the bruo and just stared at them

Nagye: w-what’s that?

Taro: is uhh, flying warrior, he use magic weapon to fly!

Ari: I think he got tired!, look, he’s following us!

the fighter jet locked on the target and fired heat seeking missiles at them

Shizuka: uh-oh, I don't think he’s tired, he’s attacking us!!, don't let those things catch up to us!!

the bruo maneuvered trying to confuse the missiles, but they continued to give chase, their deadly flight and the roar of the jet screeched like a furious animal, on top of that, the pilot was firing its machine guns, thunderous growls, sparks and hot metal threatened to obliterate the team. The pilot was skilled, he consistently had them in his sights, firing, cracking and shattering the shields they deployed, leaving the team with no choice but to defend themselves. Shizuka blasted the missiles with her own explosive projectiles, leaving behind huge explosions, the jet got trapped in the shockwaves and the pilot had to eject himself while his plane crashed

Shizuka: …oops

Taro: we go away from here!, more warriors come soon!!

Shizuka: Nagye, we’re leaving at full speed!!

Nagye: hold tight!!

The team was absorbed by the bruo, they were no longer riding it but actually inside of it. it escaped the scene before the other furious metal warriors could catch up to them. The speed was so vertiginous, the landscape quickly changed from wilderness to urban

Shizuka: haaaa I can’t believe we already got in trouble, I’m so sorry!

Ari: hmph! he asked for it, he attacked us first

Sidra: if he did not want his weapon to be destroyed, he should have been courteous and at least said good morning

Taro: it ok, we find towns finally

Nagye: l-lets go see

The buildings were not just deserted, but also damaged in a similar fashion to what happened to their town. The architecture, alien to the girls from the other world, was overshadowed by the possibility that the Horde could have invaded that world as well. They searched for clues and found posters and ads on walls of what once was a local store

Taro: this language, I can read! we are in our country! -I guess now we need to know where exactly are we-

Shizuka: -Taro… there’s something I’ve been thinking, I’m a little scared. What if… our families moved on without us? What if something happened to them?, what if the Horde is actually here? -

the questions shook Taro as well, they both stood in silence, imagining all the dreadful possibilities, anxiety invaded them, but they were snapped out of their spiral by the other girls carrying snacks from the store

Ari: guys, what is this? it smells nice, is this food?

Sidra: this is… salty, but also so brittle, like dry leaves, what a strange taste, I don’t dislike it

Taro: -those possibilities are pretty real; I didn’t consider them before…-

Shizuka: -I don't even want to imagine, but at the same time— -

Nagye: umm, Taro, Shizuka, are you ok?

Ari: w-what is it? it must be bad if the experts are scared, is this food tainted?!

Taro: no no, we just a little worried, about families, what if Horde is here, or something happen to them?

Sidra: I may not know anything about this world, but I do know that in times of uncertainty, one must have blind faith, it's the only way to traverse the darkness

Ari: cheer up guys, it's like you’re crying before even taking the hit. focus on the present, it’s in the protocols

Nagye: we will find them, n-no matter what, and if the Horde, or any warrior of this world tries something, they will have to make way for us… or we’ll destroy them

Shizuka: you guys are right, we have defeated the Horde before, and we just beat a warrior from this world easily, so get yourself together Taro, this is not over yet hehehe

Taro: me? you was scared first haha

Ari: So it's safe to eat these?, they smell amazing

Sidra: this one is a little weird, but it also has a charming flavor

Shizuka: Sidra wait, those have to be cooked with hot water first hehe haaaa hahahaaha!

the team put their worries aside and enjoyed discovering and rediscovering the wondrous flavors of packaged snacks of planet Earth
