Chapter 1:

a demon gets summoned

Daily Life of (a) Summoned Demon

It was a typical day in Hell, with lots of fire and death and the screams of tortured souls. Joz had been queued into the "to be summoned" line for twenty years already, and humans complained when they had to wait for even half an hour? That's not to say Joz wasn't complaining either though. He just hoped the summoning was worthwhile.

Last time he was summoned, the man asked him to rob a bank, so he did. He was so annoyed at the simple request that he stole one coin. Joz only waited in the lines for something fun, not to do something as mundane as robbing a bank. On the current tally of things that were requested of summoned demons, robbing a bank ranked very high. Not only that, but the summoner's soul was so disgusting Joz refused to touch it despite it being compensation he was allowed to take. It's not like he had to. He wasn't about to go near that thing.

"Next, number 3856783266!"

Joz looked down at his ticket. He was next. He desperately hoped the twenty-year-long wait would be worth it.

He knew he had been summoned when he was surrounded by a dark smoke. In the next instant, he found himself face-to-face with his new, temporary master. Before he could make sure he was seeing what he thought he was seeing (because no way would such a small kid summon him!) a young voice said, "Be my friend!"

If he had a human form right now, Joz's jaw would have dropped in horror, shock, surprise. Of all the possible orders he could have received! At least it wouldn't be boring.
