Chapter 0:
I Never Asked To Be Isekai'd!
Hey, higher powers that be, can you hear me? If so I wanted to ask you something, can you please explain why my life’s been so miserable?
Now don’t get me wrong! I have no intention of sounding ungrateful, but once you’ve been through the things I’ve been you just start to wonder things. For example, before I could remember apparently my crib fell apart when I was a baby. Despite that I luckily came out with scraps and bruises, but it doesn’t end there. I remember that time I was riding my bike at age six, I decided to cross the stone bridge everyone took. However when I was halfway across, the bridge collapsed and I fell into the water underneath. Luckily the height wasn’t that bad and I knew how to swim, but still I had a cold for weeks. Not to mention I’m scared of bridges now, then there’s the wrecking ball incident. Let’s not talk about the wrecking ball incident, looking back that was probably my main reason for leaving my parent’s home in the countryside.
So now here I am, Sota Shizuki, and despite being safe for the past couple months I feel my luck’s about to come to an end. I feel so embarrassed, here I am, off to buy stuff for my co-workers. I’m so timid that I keep looking over my shoulder, a mother even held her kid’s hand and walked away from me.
When I turned twenty one I imagined the city would be my oyster, instead I’m more scared than how I was at home. Maybe I should move back, I’m just a company intern afterall. Can’t even call those guys my co-workers, they're more like bossy seniors dumping tasks on me. Although I do love delivering things, maybe I should become a postman instead...Yeah right!

“Alright so I got the chips, the Lemon Refresh, the cigarettes…Yeah that just about does it.”
I muttered to myself making sure I got everything, it’s amazing to think I had to visit five different stores to get everything. I don’t even know why Hana likes Lemon Refresh, I can barely drink it because it’s so sour. Then again, that woman has it out for me so I guess this is probably to spit me.
“Well I guess now it’s back to-Wait, why do I feel strange all of the sudden?”
I don’t know why, but for some reason I got goosebumps. This usually happens when-Nope, I’m not claiming anything! I’m safe here, nothing bad has happened since I moved out to the city. Well, nothing besides the chihuahua incident...And then there was that time at the hotdog cart-NO! I’m starting to let my trauma rule me again, deep breathes Sota. You’re safe here in the city, what’s the worst that can happen? I finally made it to the crosswalk and right as I was crossing alongside some other walkers, I began hearing the sound of a truck.
I turned my head to look, and there was a post delivery truck heading straight for the crosswalk. At that moment panic broke out, everyone on the crosswalk ran in different directions in order to save themselves. I Managed to cross the street as planned, narrowly escaping the truck as it sped by. Jeez now I understand where those goosebumps came from, it came from that truck. Man I would’ve hated getting hit by that, at least I’m safe now. I feels good whenever I survive a run in with my luck, so good in fact that I think I’ll-
*Jingle Jingle*
You’ve got to be kidding me, I slowly turn my head and see an ice cream truck barreling towards. Thankfully my fight or flight kicked in and I cart wheeled out the way. Looks like my survival training has paid off. As for the ice cream truck, it crashed into the bookstore behind me. Luckily it was closed for renovations, so no one was hurt. Still, I survived getting hit by a truck twice. Come to think about it, I’ve been having good days for a while now. Did they all culminate into this happening? Ha…HAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!! So that’s it, TAKE THAT HIGHER POWERS! You tried to get me, but I bested you yet again! I raised my arms and shouted in triumph, surprisingly people cheered for me too! It’s not everyday where you survive almost getting run over twice. That’s when I overheard someone talking closeby, and heard something interesting.
“It’s not everyday where someone manages to survive truck-kun twice.”
“Truck-kun…”
I remembered hearing about that, there’s a joke saying that if a truck hits you you’ll be sent to another world. They even named the-Wait a minute! If I’m going along those lines, doesn’t that mean these trucks were trying to send me to another world. There’s no way, it’s probably just some-
*FLASH*
Before I knew it a beam came down from the sky and engulfed my body. So it’s true then, my bad luck is so bad it roped me into getting sent to another world. No, this can’t be! This isn’t right, I don’t want to go to some scary otherworld!
“I NEVER ASKED TO BE-”
Before I could give a rebuttal, I felt something pull me into the sky. Soon I found myself flying within and blinding light.
