The beginning of a new life

On a good vacation day in Rome, our main protagonist's life is about to change in a way only one could have known.

Today is 25.7.2030. My name is Matthew and I am currently having fun in Rome with my friends. Today is the day we are going to visit the smallest nation in the World, the Vatican! I am quite the sloppy person and hadn't looked at the clock. I said to myself “Oh shoot, im going to be late!”.

Just when I could hear my friends' voices say “Come on, let's go already!”. I could also hear a whisper from somewhere else saying “Matthew, Matthew, listen to me”. But I shrugged it off as my imagination.

Once we arrived in the Vatican I could feel the holiness all around me, it was like God himself was present. And then I could hear the same voice again calling to me “Matthew, Matthew, hear my voice”.

I started wondering whether it was someone, but quickly moved on. But in that moment I felt a tugging on my heart to stop and listen, but I ignored it and truly would come to regret it soon.

We went forward walking across the beautiful art and history inside Saint Peter's basilica. Once more I heard the voice but this time louder saying “MATTHEW, MATTHEW, BEAWARE, A DANGER IS APROACHING”. I only had a moment to react, but before I knew it, I was dead.

I had died from a fatal stabbing wound. The one who had been calling my name, was now standing in front of me. And in that moment I realized, I was in the presence of God.

God said in a powerful yet soothing voice “My son, normally you would be judged right now based on how you had faith in me and lived accordingly, but this once and only this once, will I give anyone a second chance after death!

I want your help with something”.

I was confused why an almighty God whom I only somewhat believed in, would not only save a sinner like me from hell, but also need my help?

Then God said “ I have chosen you my son. You were meant to be judged for whether you are allowed into heaven or not. But I will give you a chance to live with me forever and ever. I need your help in saving a world plagued by a grand evil that wants to destroy all the good. I am in need of a knight who will do my will in this new world“.

I was mind baffled. I didn't know what to say. I started to question both God and myself. I said “I can’t do that! I am not qualified for such a big job! I barely even…..”.

But then I stopped, realizing it was all a part of God’s plan, and I have always craved an adventure, maybe this could be it.

It is time, said God. “Are you ready for a new life in another world?” God asked? I hesitated. I asked if my friends and family would be alright and God said “Not to worry I will keep them safe”. I finally gave my answer and said, yes.
