Episode 48: The final battle

The people of the city were still evacuating, panicked that the Horde arrived earlier than expected, meanwhile Nagye was surveilling the Horde’s advance with her remote vision bird

Nagye: I see the f-flying monsters, it’s like we thought

Ari: they’ll try to attack the front and back just like they did with us

Sidra: we will not allow that to happen

Taro: monsters same as in other world?

Nagye: I see some very huge ones, there’s also a lot of the flying ones, and the normal ones that run very fast. t-the warriors are already fighting, I see big explosions, and-and the flying fighters are also here

Shizuka: I guess it’s our turn; this will be my revenge for not getting to blast the Horde enough back then

Nagye created the mana bruo, and they all hopped in, but before flying away, some people called to them

town man: -heroes! wait!!-

town lady: -we found them!!-

Ari: what are they saying?

Shizuka: that they found… could it be?!

from among the crowd, 3 familiar faces emerged, a thin balding man, a young teen, and a tired lady who had been on Shizuka’s memory dreams before. all looking older, more tired, thinner, but nonetheless familiar and recognizable

Shizuka: -…mom, dad?, Minori!, it’s me, Shizuka! -

Shizuka’s mom: -Shizuka… dear, is that really you?... after all these years— -

Shizuka’s dad: -this must be a miracle, or am I dreaming?, we thought you…-

Shizuka’s sister: -you’re alive, Shizuka!!-

Shizuka finally reunited with her family in a heartfelt hug, they could only communicate through their tears of joy. They touched Shizuka’s face and arms and pinched themselves over and over, trying to make sure it was not a dream, it was not. Shizuka was alive and well before them. It took them all a while to be able to speak without their sobs constantly interrupting them

Shizuka’s mom: -after the earthquake collapsed the hospital, I thought we lost you forever, no matter how much we searched through the rubble, we could never find you-

Shizuka’s dad: -when those people told us the super heroes trending on social media were looking for us, I didn’t know what to think, but they showed us a picture, and I thought it was some sort of cruel joke, you looked similar, but also taller and older. I still don't understand but, you’re alive and well, I can’t ask for more-

Shizuka’s sister: -Shizuka, are you really a super hero? -

a flying monster dashed through the sky, casting its ominous shadow over the city, behind it, a fighter jet pursued

Shizuka: -yeah, I’m a super hero now, I will protect you and everyone, wait for me, I’ll be back. guys, the Horde is here-

Taro: -Are you sure you don't want to stay a little longer? -

Shizuka: -I'd love to, but right now, we’re the only ones who can help. don’t worry about me, I’ll be back soon-

Shizuka’s mom: -w-where are you going? -

Shizuka: -I’ll explain after I'm back, there’s a lot I want to tell you! but for now, sit back, I’m about to do the greatest performance ever, hehehe! -

The Team flew up in the sky, assessing the situation, the air was already filled with fighter jets, helicopters, and flying Horde creatures fighting. On the ground, the Horde forces were dividing, trying to catch up to the evacuating people while others fought the army. The powerful machine guns and explosives from the soldiers were actually dealing some damage, but their smaller weapons were basically useless against the mysterious might of the Horde’s armor.

Nagye: I-I hope they just focus on fighting the Horde

Ari: Hopefully they’re not angry anymore?

some jets started firing at the bruo, forcing them to dodge and rethink their strategy

Nagye: hyah! they’re very angry!

Sidra: Perhaps they will forgive us if they see us vanquish the Horde and not them?. link to my mana, it will help us gain speed!

Ari: me and Sidra provide mana, Nagye maneuvers, Taro and Shizuka, I leave the blasting to you!, try not to hit the warriors!

Taro: yes!

Nagye: I-I can attack the Horde too, h-hopefully

Shizuka: Finally, a place to display my power. bear witness to the true power of a genius! ooohohohoho!

Shizuka released endless mana projectiles, raining down on the Horde running towards the people, the fire flower-shaped explosions quickly obliterated the small units and did heavy damage to the big ones, who were then crushed by Taro’s rock throws, rocks so compressed and heavy, that they crashed down like meteors

Taro: (I can’t believe it, I’m really throwing meteor strikes like I’m a grand wizard!, I should make an incantation to make it more legit)

the Horde realized the threat assaulting them from the skies, and concentrated their flying knights to stop them. Their huge lances resembled those of joust knights, and from them, they could shoot beams of lights that would penetrate fighter jets and helicopters. Now the team not only had to dodge the machine gun fire from the fighter jets that thought they were enemies, but also the beams of light and jabs the Horde was trying to land on them

Shizuka: guys, I can’t hit the Horde without the warriors getting caught in the explosions!

Taro: Horde move fast; I can’t hit!

Nagye: I-I got this. I am the court mages’ daughter, make way for me and my spouses, you worms!!

Using the excess mana at her disposal, Nagye created 2 more birds, but not her classic little ones, it was 2 whole bruos that skillfully maneuvered to smite the flying knights with acrobatic spins, swinging the swords they had for claws. the air was quickly being cleared of the presence of the Horde

Ari: you can control 2 bruos while also maneuvering this one?! Nagye you are amazing!!

Nagye: I can't hit that knight, he’s too good!

the 2 bruos were focused on a single knight, he was different, his movements were unparalleled and left destruction of jets and helicopters in his wake. he blasted a hole through the first bruo and slashed the second one to bits with his lance that now resembled a sword of light, which managed to pierce the Team’s bruo despite the shields they deployed to stop it. They were driven to the ground by this vicious knight, who Taro recognized before crashing to the ground. The monster jumped back before they could retaliate, and now they were face to face while the dust settled

Horde officer: I remember you; you are the toy I was playing with in that other city, I will have fun with you while your comrades watch, or should I do the opposite and eat their heads in front of you first?

Taro: Your opponent is me, monster. prepare

Horde officer: let’s make it more fun

the monster howled, drawing the attention of surrounding Horde units, they were moving in to support their commander

Ari: Shizuka, Nagye, I'll leave the small fry to you, Sidra, Taro, and I will take care of this one!

The ground battle was inaugurated by Shizuka’s explosive spells and Nagye’s orso constructs mauling the approaching Horde. the Horde officer rushed in to pierce Taro, but his attack was intercepted by Ari’s graduation weapon, which broke and burned after diverting the jab

Ari: woah! that weapon is extremely dangerous; don't let it touch you!

Sidra: I shall claim it for myself!

Sidra fueled her stick to turn it long and flexible like a vine, yanking the lance by the hilt off the monster’s hand, he tried reclaiming it, but was surprised by mana projectiles that stuck to his back before exploding, and then a bruo got in his way with slashes

Shizuka: you thought that was enough to keep us busy?, come on man, that's too easy! hehehe

Nagye: I won’t let you hurt my spouses!!

Sidra: I changed my mind, have this weapon Ari, I think you will wield it better

now the 4 girls were attacking the monster simultaneously; Sidra interrupted the monster by tangling him with the stick vine and her shield bash, Nagye’s bruo and Ari’s slashes ended up taking one of the monster’s arms, and Shizuka capitalized on any opening to fire explosive darts at his back. the monster realizes he could not win, so he tried distancing from the mosh pit, but fell right into Taro’s aim, who had been preparing his most dense rock throw yet

Taro: -I am Taro, prince from far away, from the dirt I create shooting stars, with this spell, I cast Meteor strike!!-

The strike was so full of energy and mana that it not only shattered the armor of the monster upon impact, it also melted it. The monster was sent crashing to a massive rock, which collapsed under the weight of Taro’s strike. When the team closed the distance to confirm the monster’s death, they were shocked to see that despite taking the impact square in the stomach and having lost an arm and his armor, he was still standing, and they were tired and getting dizzy from all the mana they had used

Horde officer: you are too dangerous; I will not give you the pleasure of killing me

the monster distracted them with a beam of light from his helmet, forcing them to dodge while he jumped away, about to flee once again, but this time, 2 arrows of light struck him in each shoulder, pinning him to the ground, a familiar voice shouted from above, riding a real bruo

fancy boy: you will not escape coward!!, this time I will end you!!

fancy boy dropped from the bruo to deal the finishing blow, the monster, despite his injuries, was still formidable and broke free from the arrows, and continued his escape, dodging the arrows of Angea, who was also on the bruo with the rest of the heroic party. But he could not dodge forever, an impossible shot got him on a leg, nailing him in place, giving fancy boy enough time to rush in, dodge the monster’s desperate kick, convert his wooden sword into a tree of sharp leaves and flowers, and swinging it to turn the monster into a thousand pieces. The formidable Horde officer tried firing the light beam from his helmet as a last resort before his death, but fancy boy swung for a second time, separating the monster’s head clean off

fancy boy: I told you I would follow you to the ends of the earth. teacher, I have avenged you, may you rest in peace

Taro: Artoggio! friend!

fancy boy: Taro!, friends!, how fortunate to see you again so soon!, I have fulfilled my word!. here, it's the monster’s head, just as I promised!

Taro: uhh, you can keep hehe, but thank you, you help us again

Ari: Guys! I'm surprised, how did you get here?

Angea: what do you mean by surprised?, we’ve been chasing the Horde off our glorious kingdom of Asarana, where are we now? Is this the kingdom of Hacheumi?

Taro: uhh, hehe

Sidra: goddess gracious, they chased the Horde all the way to another world

fancy boy: another world?!, so the gate the Horde was using led to another world?! absolutely amazing!!, but no matter, we shall continue our fight until the Horde is completely vanquished!

Angea: my beloved, perhaps we strayed too far, maybe we should return to report with this head as proof of our success

Nagye: I was w-way more shocked when I realized we were in another world…

Shizuka: you guys are amazing haaaa hahahaha!

after the battle was over, The Team and The Heroic party continue protecting the people from the remaining Horde on the road to the next city
