Chapter 56:
The Devourer of Destiny
The Gods of Space and Time knew this was no time to hold back. They moved together and unleashed their powers.
"Freeze time!"The flow of time around Mahendra stopped, including Mahendra himself who was about to attack, now frozen mid-air with his right hand extended forward.
"Transfer!" The God of Space opened an extremely thin tear in space, pulling Mahendra into it before he vanished."Continue the sealing!" roared the God of Wrath, flames blazing on both his shoulders. He might have seemed the calmest, but he was the most worried that the Devourer Destiny would return soon.
"God of Wrath! I've already banished the Devourer Destiny to another dimension!" the God of Space countered, confident in his own power."No!" the God of Wrath retorted. He still felt that something was wrong.
And his suspicion was correct. As the other gods began to set up the seal again, a tear in space appeared in the sky of the Upper Realm. What was initially just a straight line slowly widened, and a portal of time opened there.A flash of black shadow shot out from it. Before the Gods of Space and Time, who were side-by-side, could react, the flow of their time was stopped.
"What is happening?" the Gods of Space and Time thought to themselves.
The God of Wrath clicked his tongue. He quickly went to them, who couldn't move at all. But sadly, he was already too late. By the time he reached them, they were already lifeless.
The flow of time had indeed stopped their movements, but it had also ended their lives forever.A remnant of reddish-black lightning appeared behind the God of Space's shoulder, and the God of Wrath turned to look at the other gods who were preparing the seal. He immediately realized that the Devourer Destiny had reappeared.
"Watch out!" the God of Wrath shouted, warning them. The Sea Goddess realized she was the first target. Her two hands, which were supporting the central point of the seal, quickly replaced it with a perfect water replica of herself.
The Sea Goddess then created a barrier of water around the seal to stop him.A black sword with a deadly aura appeared in his right hand. He stepped inside with a furious expression, then swung the sword into the air.
The swing of the sword tore through the air, creating a crack in the sky, and instantly destroyed the sealing space. It was utterly annihilated, shattered into a million pieces."You want to create a seal? If the last one was gravity, then what did I just destroy?"
No clear answer came from the gods' lips.Mahendra laughed once more. He laughed heartily, his steps wobbly from the force of his laughter. He was mocking the sealing space that couldn't even hold him for two minutes."Your seals are nothing at all. Yet your former disciples were nameless minor gods who had more courage than you!" Mahendra exclaimed.
The God of Wrath had reached the peak of his fury. He flew quickly and pushed the red-eyed man's body away from his comrades. As a result of the seal's destruction, they were all wounded. Including the Sea Goddess.
"꧋꧋ꦲꦶꦣꦸ ꦥ꧀ꦝꦤ꧀ꦩꦠꦶ꧈ (Life and death)" The first line of his curse was uttered, and the words appeared in mid-air.His red eyes, glaring at the God of Wrath, shone brighter, emitting darkness.
"What is this?" Confused and filled with uncertainty, the God of Wrath gasped. He dodged, keeping his distance from him."First Devourer: Fireballs," Mahendra said again, extending his palm upward.
The God of Wrath instinctively looked up and saw thousands of fireballs, like meteors, that looked exactly like the power he had used against him before."Fall!" Mahendra swung his hand down, and in an instant, the thousands of fireballs struck the gods there.
Combined with the power of the curse from the old world, plus the devourer's power (as Mahendra had once devoured the power of fire magic), it was honestly just a regular ability for a magician. But because it was used by the Devourer Destiny, it was clearly no ordinary magic."This can't continue... if this keeps up, we will all be destroyed by these fireballs."
"Right."There were two other remaining gods who could still hold on. More precisely, they tried to avoid the fireball attacks, then flew swiftly with swords in their hands towards Mahendra.
Once the black aura was firmly attached to the enemy's blade, it could never be released.
"ꦣꦒꦶꦁꦩꦼꦚ꧀ꦗꦣꦶꦠꦸꦭꦁ꧈ (flesh into bone)" Mahendra said.Instantly, the black aura raced even faster, creeping over the two gods' bodies. The black aura covered their entire bodies—devouring them, and in a flash, the two gods had turned into skeletons.
"Devourer Destiny! You... don't you dare think you can leave!" the God of Wrath shouted.Mahendra's step, which was about to approach the remaining goddess, stopped. He glanced disdainfully at the God of Wrath for a moment.
"Noisy," Mahendra said coldly. He then pointed his palm at him, and several sharp blood thorns appeared, piercing the God of Wrath's body from all directions.
The fireballs that had been held back now incinerated the god. After a few steps toward the Goddess of Gentleness, his steps stopped again. He didn't stop without reason, because the Goddess of Gentleness had unconsciously entered his subconscious mind.
"How long will you keep fighting us?" The voice of the Goddess of Gentleness buzzed in his ears."It wasn't enough to destroy the Upper Realm, you even took many lives." Her words buzzed again.
"It wasn't me, you all started it!" Mahendra replied, and in an instant, he removed the goddess's consciousness from his subconscious mind.Mahendra choked the goddess's neck without a trace of guilt. The cold, sharp, and heartless gaze, devoid of sin, truly pierced her and made her tremble with fear.
"You are the Goddess of Gentleness, yet you believe the nonsense that I will destroy the world order?"Mahendra leaned forward, staring into the goddess's eyes that continued to shed tears. He added, "I will not interfere if I'm not interfered with. Blame yourselves for thinking I am chaos."
"B-but... Void...."His grip on her neck tightened, making it difficult for the goddess to speak or even breathe.
"The Sky World is a world I changed. On what basis do you want to destroy it?"Suddenly, a strong wind blew across the sky. Mahendra dropped the Goddess of Gentleness to the ground then tilted his head back—looking at another god who appeared very unfamiliar.
