Chapter 53:

Idea, hear me out! - Plants vs Zombies 3: The Aftermath!

Am I losing Interest in Writing?

Have you ever wondered what my thoughts are on the current state of PvZ?
As a passionate and enthusiastic player of PvZ, I have mixed feelings.
On one hand, I like the current state of the fan! They're making tons of content revolving around PvZ, like PvZ2: Reflourished, PvZ2: Gardendless, PvZ: Fusion, etc. Literally, you get so much content from them.

However, on the other hand, I dislike everything EA and PopCap do to this franchise.
Did you know the newest update to PvZ2? Ad removal! And not just an ad removal, but a subscription ad removal. An expensive one at that!

It used to be just buy something once, and the ads were gone forever. Now, that doesn't work anymore; you HAVE to subscribe. It disgusted me.

Anyway, that was my thought about it.
But this chapter is not about that. We're not gonna ramble about the current state, but we are going to discuss a fanmade creation that I have cooked up in the last couple of years since the sequel "ended".

Plants vs Zombies 3: The Aftermath
The story tells about how Dr. Edgar Zomboss accidentally warped his time machine, as Penny did as well, making both time machines malfunction and cause a paradox.
This paradox causes plants to merge and creates weird plant combinations, and zombies, too. But the most terrifying one yet!

The main Dave and Zomboss, who are always with the player, became one, and he turned super genius evil! Dr. ZomDave

After the collision, you end up in a universe where Dave is not crazy and is more chill. He treats you nicely and still loves his taco!
This Dave makes a theory to restore the universe, "maybe" they need to collect the Paradox Crystal that was shattered into pieces around his world, and other universes. Then combine them to defeat ZomDave, the combined Dave and Zomboss, by deconstructing them with the combined Paradox Crystals.

On your way to collect Paradox Crystal to restore the universe, you are also going to meet the good Zomboss, where in his universe, the one who is evil is Dave.
He told you that Dave, in his universe, used an experiment on all of the dead to resuscitate them and make the living believe he is the hero. But one night, he accidentally awakened the Zomboss, and now Zomboos is the leader of the dead in this universe, who will take their peace back where they belong.

You know why I made that universe? Yup, that's right! That is the "I, Zombie" minigame becoming its own adventure map. What a genius, I am, huh? Ha Ha Ha!

Anyway...
That's the gist of the game's story. Now, we will move on to the main gimmick of this fangame.

I have mentioned in the past paragraph that plants are combined into one and create a new, weird plant, right?
That's right! It has a PvZ: Fusion gimmick in the game, but also different!
You see, in PvZ: Fusion, mostly what you combine is a full-on plant. But here, you have built it from the ground up. You'll still combine a full-on plants, but that's not the starting point.

Your first plants are Pea Shoot, Cracked Nut, Sun Seed, and Cherry Berry. Those plants cost you 10 suns and recharge in 1 second. Pea Shoot is just a pea shot of a Peashooter that is going at the zombie from your house. Cracked Nut is just a piece of a nut that gets eaten in 2 bits. Sun Seed is a sun-producing plant that blasts into 20 suns. Cherry Berry is like a Potato Chip on PvZ2: Reflourished, but it explodes upon placing.

Those are your tutorial plants. You get your other plants by combining what you have in your arsenal with the crystals you collect around levels. To collect crystals, they will be dropped randomly upon the death of zombies or plants when you are in the good Zomboss universe.

For example, 2 Pea Shoots with the crystal will create a Peashooter. 2 Cracked Nuts will create a Wall Nut. A Pea Shoot and a Cracked Nut will create a Peanut. 2 Sun Seeds will create a Sun Flower. A Sun Seed and A Pea Shoot will create a Solar Pea (Not the Reflourished/PvZ2C version).
You get the point!

And for every new successful combination, the cost of crystal to do it increases by one. So, you can try to combine all you want. Just remember, it still costs you the crystal.

I will be listing a lot of combinations in different chapters.

Now moving on to other gimmicks, such as power-ups.
You remember that PvZ2 has power-ups like Snowball and Power Swipe, right? I want to bring them back!
"But Tim! That's really bad, no? People are going to use it, Willy Neally, to make the game easier."
Oh, you sweet summer child, did you forget that those power-ups cost in-game money? Here, in my fangame idea, it costs gems. Big budget gems. We're talking 100 gems, 300 gems, and so on. And no! You buy them individually, not in a bundle. Even if you get lucky, there is such a small chance you get them for free.

I'll be talking about this subject in other chapters, too.

Now, we will talk about the world systems.
It's simple! It's the Plants vs Zombies 2 early access world system.
Oh, did I not mention? I want this game to be on PC, so heavy world art maps like those won't be an issue.
People who don't own a PC. Sorry! Maybe next time.

This world map is not going to be hard; it will be the Earth map.
Let me explain further;
In the main menu, you will get nostalgic because I want to bring back the classic main menu. Upon pressing the adventure on the grave, a portal opens, and you will fly to space and see the world.

There, you can drag the world to select a country you want to visit. After you click one of them, you'll fly down to the country and have a level selection. After you click on the level you want to play, you have another selection for the gameplay. The modes in this selection are regular, hardmode, UAIG, etc.

I'll also explain those game modes in another chapter.

I think that's about enough for the concept. I really do want to explain further in this one chapter, but sadly, I don't think people are even going to read it if this goes on for too long. So yeah, see you next time.
