Chapter 54:

[Anime Review] - Detectives These Days Are Crazy!

Am I losing Interest in Writing?

This is my review for an anime called Detectives These Days Are Crazy!

"

Basically, Henry Stickmin the anime.
The reference to things surrounding pop culture is fascinating and so funny. They nailed the comedy, and people who have been in the animation community, especially anime, are probably going to enjoy this more.
Fantastic show. I don't really think I would enjoy this as much, but man, I actually enjoy it more than I thought.

How did I find this?
It's on Ani-one line-up anime for this season. I just thought, why not give it a try?

Appealing (Why did I get into the anime?)
I don't know. I'm actually going into this series blind. So, yeah, very surprised I actually enjoy it.

Platform
Anione Asia, Crunchyroll, and Bahamut (Taiwan)

The review;
Plot/Story
I feel like there isn't a major concurrent plot to this anime. Obviously, there is the initial plot, in which Nagumo, the former expert detective, is on the verge of being out of business, and then a high school girl, Mashiro, helps him regain his former glory as a detective.
The rest is just a quirky story that makes fun of the boomers and zoomers. No joke!
.
Also, here is the thing: the reference that they use is soooo specific, it makes only the specified fans know the reference, like the TMNT and SpongeBob references. I don't even think the Japanese know those references.
So, yeah, kind of made some people probably confused.

Character
Great!
Their deliveries on the story are just magnificent. The Detective Conan episode, the V-Tuber references, and the Ninja Warrior reference. Whenever those kinds of episodes aired, the characters were self-aware of what the h*ll they're into. I love it.

Even the side characters that are only seen in a few episodes, like Fuu and Hoshino, where Fuu is trying her best to be like Kaitou Joker, or Hoshino mimics Doraemon. They are all just great.

OST/SFX
Opening is fire, Ending is addictive, and the OST is... fine (chef's kiss).
Two thumbs up for those!

Animation
Now, this is where I draw the line. Lol
I don't particularly like the animation style. They kept on changing the art to mimic the anime or cartoon they are referencing. Again, like I said, they reference many pop culture references, and I don't really feel it works. Again, it might be just me.
Other than that nitpick, it's very good.

VA
Oh boy, the only one I want to praise here is Hoshino's VA. Her delivery of mimicking Doraemon really sent me! She nailed it to the core. I laughed so hard when she did that. Kudos to Fairouz Ai. Never heard of you, but I'm glad I got to know your voice acting. Very cool.
Other than her, I give two thumbs up.

The conclusion;
The good
I'm glad I checked this one out. Very good comedy show, just because of the many references that they put into this series.
The bad
Unfortunately, even when I recommend it, I feel like there will be many people who miss a reference or two, making their experience not to the fullest.

Gratitude
Thanks, once again, to Anione Asia for providing this anime free to watch on YouTube. Appreciated your hard work!

Overall 7/10
Solid 7 because comedy is not really my kind of thing, but it's great to watch once in a while.
