Chapter 14:

Island Adventure

I can only Sew Fancy Dresses, but I'm forced to become a Queen in Another World!

It was around 1 AM when my phone began ringing with an unknown number. I awoke with a jerk, took my phone in hand, and looked at the screen. My mind was completely blank, so I answered.

“Hello, Lady Janessa, I am Jim!”

I said, “Hello, Jim. Do you have any idea what time…”

“I apologize, but Prince Cassius is in deep trouble! Princess Amelia said that she will open a portal via this mobile network, and you must save him! Please.”

This can't be happening!

“Alright, I’ll get ready!”

My dear Prince! I must rescue you somehow.

I hurriedly grabbed my crystal necklace and waited for a minute. My phone began to vibrate, and a bright, yellow light flashed in my eyes, and I had to shut them tightly. There was a loud boom as I screamed, but I couldn’t hear it. I began falling down an illuminated chute, and I realized I was in my pajamas.

I can’t fight in this! Heck, I can’t even be seen in this!

Transforming my necklace into a staff, it slipped out of my hand, only for me to grab it once again.

That’s a relief!

I landed in Princess Amelia’s room. She rushed toward me in a nightgown.

“Janessa! We barely have any time! You are our last hope. Cassius sent an SOS signal. None of the other magic users could locate my brother. They’re all lost!”

“Understood, Princess Amelia!” I said.

I spun my staff around, and the gem lit up. In a few seconds, I entered the gold-trimmed fabric store once again. I imagined a pattern, had pixies cut it out, and added French seams to a costume made of a flowy, blue, mini dress with shorts. My hair turned white to match the white trimmed chiffon sleeves. It was complete with my transparent limbs and a silver flute.

“Yulia, ghost of the lighthouse! I got this!”

All the ladies in waiting stepped away from me, with wide-open mouths.

“Hurry, Janessa! I will start the portal again.”

“Alright!”

Blue squares of light shuffled across as I glided past them while floating and pretending to play the flute.

I crashed into darkness on my knees, covered in sand, and I heard the ocean waves splashing on the beach.

“Prince Cassius!” I cried in a melodic voice.

“Save me!” cried his deep voice.

I played the flute once again, and it created a beam of light across the whole area. I could see a few men with swords, bows, and arrows in the white glow as their shadows grew closer.

I flew across them at lightning speed.

“What was that?” one of them said.

“A ghost?!”

“Heh, not even a ghost will get past us!”

Cassius, where are you exactly?! Please be safe… please be…

I shrieked when the beam of my light shone on Cassius’s still head. My heartbeat dropped at once, and I paced forward at once.

“Cassius!” I cried.

Then I saw the rest of his body. It was still attached.

Is he alive? He must be!

He opened his eyes as they bulged and met mine, and a woman yelled, “I told you not to move! Boys, why is there so much light here? I thought I ordered you…”

I poured my light in her direction. She had white hair, red clothes, and a sharp sword.

“Take that light away from my face! I demand you…”

Continuing to play the music, Cassius yelled, “Look out!”

I stopped playing, dodged her blade, and flew down.

“Ghost blade attack!” I yelled.

I played the flute once again, nearly out of breath. A number of curved blades floated across and attacked the hand that carried the sword. The woman screeched as blood flowed down, and she dropped her sword.

“Luisa!” said the men.

“Get that strange creature now!” she cried.

Luisa held onto her arm tightly and was about to retrieve the sword.

I used my blade attack to cut open the end of the rope that held the Prince’s legs. He picked up the woman’s sword at once and got up.

“Stand back!” said Cassius.

He began to parry attacks as I released another series of blades. The men screamed and retreated.

“Come back, you cowards! Skye, you traitor!” cried Luisa.

Luisa limped away as Cassius passed me the rope, and the two of us tied her up as she tried to flinch away.

“Well, what is it that you want, Luisa?” asked Cassius, in a rough voice.

He pointed the sword at her chin.

“I wanted to claim this island as my own!”

“Well, feel free to claim a spot in its graveyard.”

“You wouldn’t dare! Not after your friendship with Luke! Surely, you owe him for all the help,” she yelled.

“Hmm, the two of you are exactly the same.”

“What?”

“Both the brother and sister tried to assassinate me. Marvellous!” he said.

“He did? Is he alive?!” she cried.

“In prison, yes.”

“Once he hears about this…”

“He may never know. We will not tell him.”

“Damn you!”

“Well, dear ghost, feel free to help untie the guards and come back,” he said, winking at me.

I nodded as he passed me the sword. The thick rope was difficult to cut, and I didn't want to use the blade attack lest it injure them further.

“Ah, let me help you," said the Prince.

They were all untied, as they cried, “A ghost?!”

Cassius shushed them and smiled. It was soon sunrise as they followed Cassius’s commands and threw Luisa into the sea as she screamed.

Maybe we could have imprisoned her...

"Cass, can't we give her lifetime imprisonment?" I asked.

He sighed and said, "She is a menace for as long as she lives."

"Alright."

I clicked my tongue and remembered my past life.

Ah, it’s an extremely unfair comparison! I did nothing wrong back then!

“Janessa, the sun will come up, and you may disappear. Turn back to your normal form,” he said.

“Alright. Phew, you recognized me after all!” I said, changing back.

I was back in my kitten-printed pajamas and slippers.

“Ah, what an embarrassing outfit to be seen in!” I said.

“Janessa, just be glad that we survived that!”

“Okay, okay!”

“Besides, you look wonderful.”

“Oh. Thank you.”

My face heated into a blush as he took my arm and helped me board the boat. We took a seat at the edge of the left side.

“You will take the first train back,” said Cassius.

“What about the portal?” I asked.

“That takes an immense amount of life energy! My sister might collapse or worse. I will arrange for the emergency documents. Be on your way, my love!”

I placed my head on his shoulder as we sailed away, on the way to Shimmerpoint in Saphyr.

Thank God you’re safe….

“So, what is it that happened with Luke and Luisa?” I asked.

The boat rocked up and down, and back and forth. I watched the overhead clouds that drifted across. The sun filled the sky.

“You see, Janessa, Luisa tricked Luke into thinking that she was kidnapped when she eloped with some gang member, and they tried to claim the island for themselves. Luke thought I had something to do with it, but, of course, the gang member fabricated that.”

“How awful,” I said, yawning and falling asleep.

"Yeah, they got what they deserved."

I heard seagulls calling and the prince humming a song.

I wonder if the royal family will be proud of me. Class will begin soon…

The tranquil sleep made me dream of me roaming a green and lush forest.
