Chapter 17:

The first day....?

DEAD//END: In the End, the world shall bow to Death!

I imagined that waking up would be similar to being born.

It’s when humans emerge from a state of sleep, their consciousness blossoming from its comfortable mental hiding place. That's why I was especially excited in the morning.

If being born is like that, I'm not surprised that it's always accompanied by crying.

I had never felt so disappointed in my entire life, which, if you consider it in numerical terms, was exactly 6 hours and 31 minutes.

We woke up still very tired; the sleep had not been exactly restful. The whole process of entering the body had been overwhelming for the body's entire physiology.

Was it something close to a hangover? If so, that would be another desire I could soon cross off my list.

Why that face, reader? If I’m going to live, I want to experience everything, even the bad things!

"I don't think so, Shi-nii. They say hangovers involve a lot more pain, but then again, how would I know? I left my body at 16, I've never drunk," said Tada... Zack... I don't know.

Yeah... we need to think carefully about nomenclature from now on.

"Huh... Zack's voice is deeper from inside the body. Come to think of it, it's way deeper than mine. Well, I guess that's an upgrade then," said Tadashi.

With his button-down pajama shirt open, Tadashi stood up, coming face to face with a mirror that had been hidden in the darkness during the night.

"Speaking of upgrades, he's really ripped," said the boy, test driving his new body, jumping, punching the air, and even doing some push-ups. "Wow, I've never done push-ups in my life."

I watched Tadashi while I was working backstage.

"The colors I see are a little different. Walking is also strange, he's taller... he must be at least six feet tall, I'm used to my five foot something.” Raising his arms, Tadashi was amazed at the muscles on display. “I don't know if his body is much cooler than mine or if I just have low self-esteem."

"Your body and his are the same now, your original body no longer exists. Get used to it," I said, appearing in front of Zack.

I managed to make the whole hallucination thing work much better now. Tadashi saw the good old skeleton in a jacket, shorts, flip-flops, and wig that everyone loved so much.

"Yeah, you're right. I wonder how big the..."

HEY, HEY, HEY, LET’S KEEP IT FAMILY-FRIENDLY, MAN!

"Damn, his feet are huge. His shoes must look like surfboards!"

Oh... okay. Getting back to the point, I said:

"But tell me, are we going to retire the name Tadashi or what? It's going to be too confusing to write if I have to use two names."

I didn't want to give up my name...

"Let's stick with Tadashi then. I'll use Shi-nii to describe my actions, Tadashi when they're yours in the body, and Zero when it's an action done by us together... Does that make sense?"

"Kind of... I guess we'll only know once we try it out."

Doing a general check-up on the body, I was like someone in a mecha. Meanwhile, Tadashi looked at himself in the mirror. His blond hair, slightly grayish, his reddish-brown eyes now much more vivid.

"Tadashi, you can say what you want, but our first attempts at incarnation were very fruitful. Not only am I much better at giving an image to the voice in your head, but also..." An energy flowing upward in thousands of particles began to spread through the boy's body. 'At controlling our mana perfectly."

"That's amazing! Hahah, we're finally on the rise in our journey!"

The possibilities seemed endless. It was the first day of many, yet a special air filled that beginning. A certainty settled in our souls — the fantastic and incredible awaits us.

A creaking door caught our attention, cutting our thoughts in half. Wide open, the door released a strong light onto our newly acquired eyes.

AHHHHHHHHH, THAT HURTS! EVERY DAY WHEN WE WAKE UP AND SEE THE LIGHT WILL IT BE LIKE THIS?

Yeah, pretty much...

Based on our extensive knowledge of Zero's daily life, we expected to see the butler there, but a much more punk image presented itself. A guy, with one side of his hair shaved and the other long, full of piercings on his face, carrying two green bear bottles between the fingers of one hand, looked at us strangely.

His posture was also strange: his neck was somewhat twisted, his legs clearly wobbly. His clothes consisted of a long-sleeved shirt on one side, hiding his left arm, and short on the right side, showing the giant muscles of his arm, as well as several puncture marks.

Do mosquitoes also exist in this world?

Borne — A voice echoed from our subconscious, its weary tone unmistakably stamped with Zack’s signature. So that little bit of soul still remained distinct from both of us.

From the memory, we discovered that this was Borne, Zack's relative... but we knew nothing more than that.

Borne came walking with a stumbling gait, smiling, as he pulled his hand out of his long, single sleeve. Pretending the bottles were drumsticks, he laughed as he reproduced the sounds of the drums, until in one swift blow he hit us on the head with one of them.

"Ouch..." Zack let out a slight grunt, adding another noise to the invisible drum solo.

The bottle nearly broke on our heads.

We were so surprised by the bizarre situation that we couldn't even react to the slow and clumsy attack.

“Zack, if you don't give me some cash now, I'm going to be really pissed at you.”

“Huh?”

“Come on, we've done this so many times, it's already a family tradition. So hand over the cash, cousin, or I'll send you straight back to bed.”

Damn it, everyone in this family wants to hurt us. Shi-nii, let's... Shi-nii, are you okay?

AHHHHHHHHHH! HOLY SHIT, THAT REALLY HURTS!

MY GOD! I THOUGHT THE PAIN WAS STRONG WHEN I WAS A SLAPED AS A SOUL, BUT IT DOESN'T EVEN COME CLOSE TO THIS.

It was just a little hit, it's okay...

My soul was torn apart between the immense pain and discomfort caused by the vibrations of the bottle spreading through our skulls. It was unbearable.

It didn't even hurt, Shi-nii.

What are you saying?

If that's not pain, then what is real pain?

The memories I carried throughout my period working as Death came back in flashbacks. I knew pain was something humans experienced, but I always thought the screams were more for dramatic effect than anything else.

All the types of death methods came into flashs

Crushed between cars, trucks, and rocks. Impaled, decapitated, and burned. Suffering from diseases for days, for months, for years.

For the first time, the shared suffering I had witnessed for centuries made sense.

Regurgitating those morbid memories, I lost myself inside more of myself.

Outside, our body slowly began to release a green mana in crooked, shaky particles, somewhat disgusting to the naked eye.

Shi-nii, snap out of it. We're going to get ourselves into trouble here.

The doors to a personal hell were opening above me.

"Hey, Zackie, are you trying to fight back? It's funny to see you try to use magic, but even at that, I'm better than you," Borne said, showing what was to come.

A purplish energy spread throughout the room. He was very strong, but still, he was no match for what we could do.

"I have a chick waiting for me, and we’re gonna drink a lot tonight. So let’s get this over with quickly." Borne’s bulging eyes spiraled in a hypnotic color. His pupils closed, staring at us, his prey.

High expectations collided with reality:

All this pain I witnessed and could never understand, and the guilt it carries, is all yours, Borne, I thought.

The first thing we’re going to do in this body is get bullied? Not on my watch! Tadashi thought.

That son of a bitch has been stealing my money since we were five — even Zack was with us.

The 2.5 souls joined together as one with unanimous aggression.

There was no show-off, no buildup of energy or preparation, Zero's eyes just lit up in a complex yellow — the headlights of our anger coming down on the punk like a truck.

"Let’s forget this. None of this happened. We may still have our long-awaited first day in Isekai," we said together.

He took a step back:

“Wait... What are saying?”

“I'm not talking to you”

In the blink of an eye, a sharp punch landed on Borne's face.

Our response was a well-aimed punch that flattened Bourne's cheeks in seconds. It was so perfect that his head followed our hand, only separating from his soft cheeks when he was thrown to the ground. Since we were taller, the punch ended up being essentially a hook coming from above.

I don't know what was worse: the impact of the punch or what Bourne took when he hit the ground.

A ONE HIT K.O!

A new killing technique was born:

Deadly Technique — New World Edition: Avenger LowerCut!

Unconscious, we stepped over Bourne, trampling him.

“It's time for breakfast.”

FUCK IT, THE CHAPTER IS OVER.

NONE OF THIS HAPPENED!
