Chapter 22:
[English] Clã de Ataque
"Hey Omar, what was that meat you got us yesterday? It tasted rich, kinda like chicken but with a seafood fallback. Hmm... amazing, truly."
"Oh, I knew you'd like it. It is a river turtle, not sure if it was tracajá or tartaruga-da-amazônia."
"Nice, great. I'll want more of those today, please."
I'm ready for another great day, but the whole town feels different today. A bit quieter, fewer people in the central market.
The closer I move to the guild the more chatter I can hear and soon I spot venues completely filled with people. I try working my way around it, without much success, until I spot Tarik.
"Hey Tarik. Is something up?"
"Don has come back from Mar de Fevereiro, the capital."
Oh, Don is back. The so-called Main Character. Does that mean he grew more than Joy and even Daniel? He must have infinite points to work with and be capable of doing anything.
"This is an opportunity. Most of the crowd will be exited with his arrival. Any spy will be studying the area and the Don." Tarik adds. "You only need to get to a high place, where you can see the crowd."
I could use my [Kingdom], but is it worth it? I only have three skill points right now, and we don't know for sure that there is a spy.
Wait … I actually have my ultimate technique. And I even upgraded it cause now I have an easier time getting sad memories.
Okay. Sad memories ... Tearing up.
"Hey. Lady" Snif "Can you lift me up? I can't see my Mom ... "
Now I lift my arms to receive the Oscar.
"What? You're older than me! And bigger than me!"
Tsk
"Did you really need to make a fool of yourself like that? I could've helped you up."
Yeah. Tarik is right. That was stupid …
I'm probably gonna need parkour skills when I'm up there too, so I ain't even need help if I get it now …
The streets are completely irregular, I should circle around to the area where houses are more close together, so I can move more — And closer to the CLÃ DE AGRICULTURA's building.
If I remember that right, it should be in the western side, but the crowd is thicker there, Don is probably coming from that direction. There is a good density on the south side too, though.
A problem I can identify is that pipes are really rare around here … Maybe I really needed Tarik's help. Maybe I'll have to find particularly close houses to climb by using the walls on both sides?
Upon getting to the destination, it is as I expected. There really are close enough houses that I can probably move on top of them. Far enough from the crowd that I can go on top without people seeing me. None close enough to actually climb, though. And the roofs have some overhang.
I look around for stuff I can use … Only small rocks, and maybe the doors. There is one door open.
I check the doorknob, it feels sturdy enough. I might be able to get on top of the door using it and to the top of the house from there.
I open the door the most it can, so it doesn't try to close when I'm hanging from it. Then I reach for the top and start pulling myself. I used my left foot on the knob to get a boost. I get my knee on top and from there it is easy to get on top.
As soon as I get up there, the door wobbles and closes, launching me to the ground on my back. God does it hurt, my whole back is heated up, and my column feels like it is trying to screech in pain itself.
I should have accepted Tarik's help, but it is too late now.
I get one of my bamboo knifes and fix into the ground. Add some nearby rocks to give it more support.
It still wobbles when I get up there, but it is quite a lot less, and I manage to jump into the overhang before the knife breaks.
The top of the houses are all made of palm leaves, which muffle the sound by quite a lot, and is the same color as most of my clothing. I still have to move carefully, but I've been using my stealth skills quite a lot recently, so I don't waste much time. I know how and where I can place my foot.
The main building is too big, I won't be able to see the other side, and it is too far for me to jump from right here … I look around again … I can move to the western cluster of houses and go to the big one from there.
Once I get to the top of the highest building, I get a breather … It is quite a view of the forest from up here, even though the trees are still quite a bit higher. There is the lone road west trying to offer some resistance to the power of nature, and I can see a group of four coming from there.
There are two blonde women, both very elegant, but while one's glances towards the crowd feels stern, the other feels plain condescending.
I recognize the first one's armor, it is the boss from the camp. What is it doing here?
I can also recognize, with great shame, a tall and uninterested figure with yellow skin and black hair. The NPC who let me live …
Finally, an imposing armor, black hair, white skin and a strong jawline. Imposing posture with a laid-back demeanor and just enough aloofness in his eye to project confidence.
To be honest, not the kind of main character I like.
He looks at me from the distance. He has noticed me.
It is a very charismatic figure. Somehow, I already like him.
I direct my attention towards the crowd. Tarik is at a good position. Other than him, I can only identify a few suspicious people, but as soon as Don approaches, all of them naturally start cheering. Or, most of them, I should say.
There are five people who looked kind of suspicious.
One of them enters the building together with the heroes. I keep my eyes on the others while the crowd disperses. They all live suspiciously far to each other, almost a perfectly drawn square.
Okay, I think I am ready to go me~
THUMP THUMP
I can hear something below me.
Crackle Sizzle Crackle Sizzle Crackle
Is that fire?
I jump behind, and the sizzling sword appears exactly where I was and starts circling me. Three others, not on fire though, one in each direction.
They make a hole in the ceiling and I fall into an attic with the squad looking down on me.
[Kingdom of kingdoms]
[Kingdom of kingdoms: Fail]
What? No skill points? When did I get the preparing caipirinha and cooking feijoada skills? I don't even know what those are.
