Chapter 5:
My New Maid Doll
The black figures that surrounded them just stood, watching closely. Klet nervously took out his rosary and cross and held them high, but the figures didn't budge.
"Your faith shakes like a branch in the wind." A thousand voices whispered out in unison.
"W-What do you want from us!?" Klet shouted, gritting his teeth, trying to keep him composure as fear swallowed his body.
A loud cry echoed through the forest as a hunk of flesh stumbled towards them, unable to be even called a human anymore. It screamed as it's neck twisted upside down, it's jaw unhinging.
"S-Stay calm master... they're trying to intimidate us!" Briar called out, but she couldn't hide her fear any longer.
"Children..." The creature spoke in a deep and commanding tone. "Why have you come for me?"
It took a few seconds before Briar could answer.
"We're looking for a way to undo my curse... Mammon, the demon in the basement spoke."
Hearing this, the creature screamed in anger as it glared at those two.
"He spoke my name! I'll rip his body for eternity!" Mammon spoke as he stepped forward. "You can't undo my curse. Your bosses and I made quite the deal. I don't ever go back on my deal." A twisted smile appeared on it's face. Unable to contain her rage, Briar lashed out, throwing the first punch, but Mammon just stopped her hand completely. "Hush child. You can't do anything to me, not even with your relics." Mammon taunted as he twisted Briar's hand, causing her to fall to her knees. Her body convulsed as blood flowed from her eyes and mouth. "You're still mine." A sadistic and disgusting smile appeared on Mammon's face as he licked her blood that flowed down her cheeks.
Klet could only watch in horror as he was left powerless. Fear took away all the faith from his body and soul. A thought of making a deal with the demon to escape this hell, like a small whisper constantly repeating in the back of his head.
"That's it child. I'm always willing to make a deal. Now what's your offer?" Mammon asked in a eager and sleazy tone as his gaze fixed on Klet, reading his soul like a book. "I can free you from the demons and ghosts, I can give you a place of wealth and luxury. The finest meals in the world, the biggest mansions, the most beautiful girls in the world. Just accept my offer, shake my hand and the deed is done!" A disfigured hand extended towards Klet, but with each moment that passed, the hand looked more and more smooth and beautiful like made out of gold. It was a simple task, just shake his hand and everything that Klet could want and more was his. Slowly, his hand made it's way to Mammon's, but his tongue moved on it's own.
"Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus-" He repeated with fear as the demon recoiled and yelled out in pain.
"Fuck you! I HATE YOU!" It screeched in multiple voices as the dark figures disappeared in fear. The demon looked up and quickly disappeared from the humans body. falling down lifelessly onto the floor. The ground shook as a loud and commanding tone spoke out.
"You spoke the name of my Lord and He sent me. You two... reek of fear. How shameful. Have you no faith?" A figure of light appeared in front of them, standing tall among the trees, a beacon of hope. An angelic figure with long blond hair that waved in the air, wings that burned with holy fire, the armor radiated protection and his came radiated love. Glowing eyes that pierced their souls.
"Be not afraid, unless you're with them." The angel spoke in a serious tone. Klet fell to his knees and bowed, Briar fell onto the ground, the angel presence burning her entire body. Despite the imposing figure, Klet felt safe and could speak freely.
"P-Please! Help us! The demon Mammon cursed Briar! Please get rid of it! C-Can't God do that?!" Klet begged with tears in his eyes.
"And why should He fix your problems?" The angel asked, crossing it's arms. A feeling of dread and Klet looked up at the angel, dumbfounded and confused.
"I-Isn't God supposed to help us?!"
"So you think He obeys your commands? Is He your slave?"
"N-No! Not like that!"
"Then like what? You didn't even believe in my Lord until recently, until you needed help. You rejected Him and now you want Him to fix your mistakes. How selfish." The angels words struck Klet harder than any punch. Unable to hold it in anymore, he started crying and begging.
"Please! Please! I'm so sorry! I'm sorry for everything! Please... help me fix this." Hearing his words, the angel laughed.
"Now that's more like it. Watch how you phrase your words, human. God will always help you through your life. That's why He sent me, to guide and help you."
The revelation made Klet's heart jump, he was finally getting somewhere.
"Listen well human! Call upon the Lord to give you wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. These are the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Without these, you will fall down to damnation again. Call upon the Lord for help, for He will send me to protect you. But call upon the Lord with love and faith, not fear and greed. Doubt the Lord and you will fail, let Him lead your life, let Him lead you to peace. And you down there." The angel looked down at Briar.
"Same goes for you. It is not your will to be enslaved by the demonic, but let this be your purgatory, your cleansing. You will only know pain from now on, but better to suffer now than later." Briar could only nod her head slightly, her entire body felt heavy under the pressure.
"Now then, go on your way, humans. Call upon the Lord in your time of need, for He shall send me, Michael, His sword, to help you in your needs. I shall pray for you and your souls."
Within a blink of an eye, Michael disappeared, the oppressive force leaving Briar's body. Klet nervously stepped forward and carried her back to his house. Neither of them spoke a word of the events that happened. The wheel has started turning and now the battle for Briar's soul has begun, war has been declared to both sides.
