Chapter 62:

The End of War

The Devourer of Destiny

The sky thundered, and thick, black clouds overlapped and merged into one. The darkness of the star-filled night slowly vanished, replaced by a crimson sky that resembled a sea of blood.

The moon disappeared, swallowed up by every step he took as he re-entered the entrance of the Upper Realm. The God's Necklace crumbled to dust, his striking crimson hair falling straight down to his waist. When he stopped at the third layer, his red eyes stared sharply at the stairs.

With a single breath, the entire Upper Realm transformed into a layer of ice, freezing over more than the Northern Territory. A cold chill accompanied a breeze that sent shivers down one's spine.

"I have come, god."

Dark lightning surrounded his body. In the blink of an eye, he was right in front of a supreme god who seemed to be on high alert.

"Did you come here to be killed?"

He stripped off the white robe that the God of Emptiness was wearing. He moved backward, pulling out a long staff with a brightly glowing crystal at its tip. A magical incantation with a circle appeared in front of him.

However, just before the incantation could be completed, Mahendra easily shattered it into pieces. He stood before the God of Emptiness again.

"Bring out all your abilities. Oh, and where's your signature move?" Mahendra asked with a mocking intent.

The God of Emptiness ignored him. He again kept his distance and once more performed a spell. He did this because he knew that the Devourer Destiny could not be taken lightly.

"I'm not sure if he has recovered. After all, the wound—"

While he was chanting and thinking to himself, his thoughts suddenly vanished when he saw Mahendra coughing up blood.

"So you're still wounded," the God of Emptiness said.

He had only two days, and he used that time to settle all his affairs in the human realm and to give his body time to rest. However, even for a Devourer Destiny, wounds from the power of law were difficult to heal.

With a single blink, several divine weapons flew toward him. Unable to dodge because a chain had bound both of his ankles, all the divine weapons instantly pierced every vital point on his body.

The God of Emptiness raised his right palm with his eyes closed. A massive hand emerged from below and tightly gripped Mahendra's body, crushing him entirely. In that position, Mahendra's resolve did not waver. While mumbling something, a dagger with an emerald stone sliced the god's temple. Afterward, the dagger shattered there.

"How reckless, coming unprepared. Did you think I would be careless?"

Mahendra shed tears of blood as his bones were crushed. He then fell once more into an emptiness where no one else was present.Everything that was always on his mind now vanished. He fell into an abyss but did not realize it. He only felt as if he were in a void, unaware that he was in danger.

The abyss of darkness filled every space around him. There were no thoughts or desires, as pure as a baby in the womb. Mahendra fell asleep in a matter of seconds. In reality, Mahendra was truly unconscious. His pupils were white, a sign that his consciousness or soul had left his body.

For a moment, the God of Emptiness felt relieved. He then sat down, taking a deep breath. He pressed down on the bleeding from his old wound, which had been caused by Mahendra's claws.

"Whether it's you or me, we are both equally unlucky, Devourer Destiny," the God of Emptiness murmured.

All emotions within him had been erased. They were completely gone, as if the abyss had swallowed them. However, there was a small crack in his imperfect dream.

Initially, he could only fall with his eyes closed, but now he began to open both of his eyes, shattering the abyss as if he were breaking glass or tearing paper.

Just as the God of Emptiness was about to prepare for the re-sealing, a black sword blade suddenly pierced his body from behind.

"Where is he?" the God of Emptiness thought, realizing that Mahendra had disappeared from in front of him.

However, he deemed the question useless because he instantly understood with the sword blade that was now destroying his body.

The God of Emptiness stopped the sealing. He gripped the blade even as his hand was eroded down to the bone. He glanced back with sharp eyes, staring at Mahendra who was standing behind him, still pushing the sword.

Defeat and death were right before his eyes. Anyone would be afraid to face it. Even though gods have immortal bodies, they are not truly immortal. They are merely long-lived and ageless, but they are not exempt from death.

The unnamed God of Emptiness, whoever he was, realized his life would not last much longer.

"Let us die together!"

Along with his booming voice, the sky split in two, and a rain of swords appeared from above, their speed too fast for the eye to follow. Each sword that fell formed a strange legal bond. Mahendra's heart pounded anxiously, sensing that these were not ordinary swords.

"What are you doing?!"

One sword pierced Mahendra's body, and another pierced the God of Emptiness's. The foreign law that bound the sword blades was now intertwining into something.

"If I die, you will die with me," the God of Emptiness said.

"Do you think I can't break it?"

Mahendra's gaze became even sharper. Before the law from the sword blades that pierced them could truly connect, Mahendra pulled out his black sword blade and incinerated both the body and soul of the God of Emptiness.

Flames blazed, a searing heat like hellfire. The body was gone, and a single speck of soul that resided within came out. Mahendra, who would not let the soul escape, quickly trapped it in a cage and burned it again until it was completely gone.

The soul of the God of Emptiness, who was able to use several powers of law, was now extinct. He would never be able to reincarnate again.

Wounds from dozens of laws were fully imprinted on Mahendra's body. Although his body felt like it was about to collapse, and he was gasping for breath, he continued to walk down with very slow steps.

The entire Upper Realm remained frozen without affecting the creatures that lived there. He deliberately did that to mark his territory and so that not everyone could interfere with whatever he was doing.

As he stepped onto the last layer of clouds, the cold air turned warm. The layer of ice had melted and began to grow grass, flowers, and other plants as before. The Pool of Memories also grew lush and much taller than before.

He then stopped in the middle of a flower garden with six petals of various colors. Mahendra fell to a sitting position, then took out a single feather from his body and placed it there.

The feather then transformed into a beautiful woman dressed in a white gown with no accessories. Her long, straight white hair fell to her waist, as did her pale skin.

Mahendra's heart beat faster than usual, even more so than when he was fighting the gods, as he gazed at the beauty of the angel lying before him.

His breath grew heavier, and tears flowed down his cheeks. Slowly, he held and then kissed the back of the woman's hand.

"I could bring you back to life, but... if I do that, you will kill me," Mahendra said with his eyes closed.

He kissed the back of her ice-cold hand for quite some time.

Mahendra opened his eyes. A golden glint appeared from his red eyes as he looked at the angel, a great fear causing his hands to tremble violently.
