Chapter 73:

Chapter Seventy Three: Levelling Up

SAVING THE DEMON QUEEN IN ANOTHER WORLD

I was ready to take a gamble. At the rate things were going, the whipped lance was bound to hit me on the head. I would die instantly if it were to hit me anywhere. My right arm was still wide open. I noticed the incoming attack a bit too late. I didn’t think he was fast enough to do that.
The miscalculation on his part is that I can fly. It would have been the end of me if I didn’t push my whole weight towards him. Sure I put myself at risk of getting closer to the lance, but with the distance shortened, my sword was just above his arm at equal distance the lance was to my body. It was a gamble to see who was faster. The lance would hit me if he was faster than me and the reverse was the same for him.
Just like I said before; I am faster than he is. My sword met with his arm first and cut it off. My body crashed onto his pushing him of his ride. I held on tightly so that we wont get separated. I’m sure to lose him if that happened. With no hands at all attached to him, he had little means of fighting back. Because of the momentum I used in pushing him back, we crashed real hard on the transparent ground. He was completely invisible to me when I sat up above him.
“I have to finish this before I lose him.”
I grasped my sword strongly with both hands with the tip pointing to the ground where he was. I raised it up and was about to release when I felt shivers all over me. My barrier darkened in that time frame. I jumped upwards real quick without knowing what it was.
That saved my life a lot. Just when I pulled back, a transparent object passed through my barrier aiming for my head. Just inches away from me, it would have grazed my nose if I was just a fraction of a second slower.
The lance missed me. Another one came immediately after. Like a barrage of bullets, I was able to detect the countless lances that were shot thanks to my barrier darkening. Dodging in midair, I used my speed and flexibility to its fullest.
Where are they coming from!!??
I moved away from his location. I lost sight of him when my concentration faltered as I dodged.
After the barrage stopped and I couldn’t tell where he was, I floated in the air scanning the transparent ground.
“Heavy!”
That was when I felt an incredibly heavy weight on my back. The force from the weight pushed me down instantly towards the ground. I crashed making an invisible hole.
It was a type of attack I was familiar with. The weight stayed on me for a while before taking off. It was the freezer. The drop kick from above was powerful.
Having acquired that same type of ability, I took less damage than I was supposed to. I got out of the hole the second the weight was off me. Staying in one place might put me in risk of taking another lance attack.
But now what do I do? I cant see any of them. I was only able to see them using the smoke bomb and when light shone on them at a close distance. At this rate, it’ll be back to square one.
I guess I should try ‘it’.
A monster I killed had a night vision ability. I can see clearly at night. I thought that maybe it would allow me to see transparent objects in the daylight but will it really work?
“Dark!”
Only total darkness awaited me when I used the skill “Night vision.”
I shouldn’t be playing around like this. It’s game over the moment the lance hits me. I have to find and finish this fight before he regains his lost limbs.
Even if I cant see in it, I have no choice but to use the ‘smoke bomb’ again. I’ll fly high up and check for movements in the smoke.
I had already made my mind when a new idea hit me.
“Wait. It becomes dark in the smoke. The sunlight is blocked by the smoke particles. Then maybe………………….”
I had to try it even if I wasn’t sure.
Here I go…………..
“Smoke bomb!” I released an immense amount of smoke from my body like an explosion. The smoke covered a wide area around me.
And then………….. “Night vision!!” I used the skill to see at night.
Woah! I did it.
Inside of the smoke wasn’t totally dark. as such, I wouldn’t be able to see clearly as though it were night. My vision became blurred. Just like a dim lit room. This way I wont have to exit the smoke in order to find them.
I didn’t know where they were. Left, right, or above for that matter. That was when I remembered my fight with the sword tentacle monster. It was able to find my exact location despite me being covered by smoke.
What if I can sense the objects that are inside the smoke as well? The smoke prevents my opponents from finding me. I had a little time to spare on concentration. If I could concentrate enough, then maybe I’ll be able to sense their presence in the smoke.
I focused. A soaring sound like the wind filled my ears. It felt as though my body was not made of matter. I couldn’t even tell which direction I was in.
It didn’t work.
I had one more ace up my sleeve. If I cant sense them just like that, then I’d have to send my energy along with the smoke. I’ll be able to detect even the minute interference on my energy.
I did that and got a response almost immediately. It felt as though my body was the smoke itself. Because there was nothing else in the floor, I was able to find them quickly. A different energy signature from me was detected just a hundred meters to my right. I was able to tell the shape and size of that energy. It came to me in the form of a headless knight clad in armor. The knight was about to get on something like a horse with wings and a horn for a neck.
My energy bounced off theirs giving me their visuals. I quickly accelerated and made my way there.
It seems the lancer’s hands have still not regenerated. It was my chance to end it before they could leave the smoke.
Closing in the distance, I was able to see their bodies in a blur. My night vision was doing some work.
The lancer sensed my presence and hurriedly got on the freezer. They were about to take off when I aimed my legs along with my whole weight at them.
“Drop kick!!” I kicked the freezer’s rib cage forcing the lancer to fall off.
I ignored the freezer and pursued the lancer with my sword. In midair, I sent all my strength to my sword.
The lancer was falling horizontally. I closed the distance between us. His legs were fully exposed to me. I had to take that chance before the lances come at me.
“HIYAAH!” I slashed the air vertically at his legs.
Before my sword could reach him, he kicked the air with his legs pushing away from me. I immediately chased after. This time around, I held his left leg at close proximity. I missed the first attack, but my sword was already in position.
“SLASH!” I took off the leg from the thighs down.
As my sword aimed downwards after taking off the leg, I used that momentum to change it’s direction to the right. From below, I aimed the sword horizontally upwards at the other leg.
I was able to cut it off thanks to the energy I sent to my sword.
I moved my eyes to the remainder of his body when I noticed a hole opening up in his chest. I didn’t hesitate for a second when I aimed and pushed my sword inside it.
A hard object prevented it from going all the way in. The object felt like a metal. It was no doubt the lance. That explains where the lances have been coming from when he has no arms.
If it wont go in, then I’ll just have to push harder.
After making sure that my sword and his lance were on a stalemate, I strongly pushed down on him and let go of my sword. It remained inside for the briefest moment when I landed another successful attack.
“Drop kick!!” the reason I let go of the sword was all so that I can apply more weight. A strong enough weight to send the lance back inside of him and my sword along with it.
The force sent him crashing to the ground. From the impact as I dropped kicked my sword, I was able to tell as it pierced inside pushing back the lance.
“BAAM!!” a strong explosion came from the body that crashed. My sword flew away from the force. The lancer exploded due to the different energies that were sent to him at the same time.
“Phew!” that took a while.
I turned my attention to the freezer after that. I’ve already defeated about a hundred freezer’s on my own. It proved less challenging to me. I cut off the wings first then cut off the horn as well.
After I was done with the freezer, I returned to the spot where the lancer exploded and searched for the dropped items. I found them after I cleared away the smoke. A white stone and a lance.
I still haven’t used most of the abilities I’ve acquired. It seems I’d have to practice them before I can use them in battle.

“Welcome, Adventurer. You did well to have made it this far. I’m am the king of the undead. My name is Undeadad…………… I’ve been waiting.”
The first monster to speak to me was on the 50th floor. A monster whose appearance I had known before hand.
