Chapter 22:

Returning to Arcvon

Re:Admin

The air around Opalis crackled, you could almost taste the danger. The golden portals above, now dim and flickering, felt like a final chance, a last stab at rescue. Reyus Lazurai stood firm beside Admin, a source of strength he deeply appreciated, but a nagging worry gnawed at him.

You're miles away, Reyus noted gently, her fingers brushing against his. What's eating at you?

Admin sighed, his face clouding over. It's my past, or rather, the giant hole where it should be. I can pull up skills, facts, even memories of a life I supposedly lived somewhere else. But anything personal? Gone. Like it was never there. I can't even cough up my parents' names.”

Reyus frowned, real concern etched on her face. You don't recall your family? Any friends? Not even your own name?

Admin shook his head, a touch of self-mockery in his voice. Nothing. Zip. Zilch. It's as if someone wiped my memory bank. I instinctively know how to put a spaceship together, but I couldn't pick my own mom out of a lineup! Makes zero sense.”

He paused, a strange look flickering in his eyes. And 'Admin'? It's not even a name, is it? More like a label. I remember showing up here, totally lost and confused. The very first thing I heard was Aeriys... saying, 'Welcome, Admin.' Like she was assigning me a role. The designation just sorta stuck.”

Reyus's eyes narrowed, her grip tightening on his hand. Aeriys. Even gone, the old goddess still cast a long shadow. The thought that their former enemy had basically handed Admin his current identity was deeply disturbing.

So you don't even know what you used to be called? Reyus pressed, her voice full of worry.

Admin just shook his head, a weary smile tugging at his lips. Nope. Total blank slate. A guy with a head full of know-how and no clue who he really is.”

Reyus's heart ached for him. To have your past ripped away, to drift in a sea of borrowed memories without a single anchor… that was a weight no one should have.

She squeezed his hand, her gaze steady and firm. Then we will start from scratch, she stated, her voice ringing with determination. The past might be a void, but the future is wide open, and we'll face it that way – together.

She paused, a hint of mischief dancing in her eyes. And about that blank space on the last name line? Problem solved. From now on, you're Admin Lazurai. Consider it official. You are part of me and a sign that you belong somewhere, and here is that place.

Admin's face softened, a genuine smile lighting up his features. A wave of warmth washed over him, a feeling of belonging he had never known before.

Admin Lazurai, he said, testing the name. It felt strange, maybe, but definitely right. I like it. Thanks, Reyus.

The echoes of the battle began to die away across Opalis, replaced by a deep awareness of loss and a heavy sense of responsibility. Though the city was safe, the price was truly high. Eyrie, in particular, was struck by this tragedy. Both of her parents had died during the conflict, which left the teenaged girl with no family, and made her a complete liability for the group.

The Mobile Command Center appeared, a signal of rescue among all the grief. However, this was not another war, but a place of honor, a site dedicated to honoring the departed and taking them to their resting places.

Admin Lazurai addressed the group of his teammates, his tone serious and commanding, but at the same time solemn and melancholy. “The battle’s end is here, however, our job has just begun. We must support Eyrie, her family, and honor their honor, and it is our responsibility to send them to their home.”

Mirai then bowed in response, “They were entitled to be honored. They will be recognized.”

Tundra expressed her sadness and regret over the matter. “We all will remember their honor. As a member of your group, I will document all of their actions for the future.”

Eyrie was quiet and was clutching her mother’s necklace, looking at it with grief. She was extremely touched by this tragedy.

Admin Lazurai turned towards Reyus Lazurai, and he became caring and concerning over the matters. “Reyus, I know that this is all a difficult situation. Travelling to Arcvon will reveal old wounds and memories. However, it is important that we support Eyrie and her family in this time.”

Reyus stated with compassion, “Eyrie will take the lead and show her what family really is.”

With regard and care, they took the bodies, placing them in a storage pod with the help of Mobile Command Center. With this action, they honor the men who had fought in the war.

Admin Lazurai with compassion said to Eyrie, “Eyrie, we will take them to their resting places with honor, surrounded by the people of their families. And we will take care of you when this is over.”

Eyrie then expressed her gratitude towards Admin. “Thank you Admin, for doing this right now.”

Admin then turned towards Reyus to ask a favor in this time of crisis.

“Reyus, will you please comfort her and support her. It’s likely that she will experience some of the most difficult moments of her life. I think it is important that you may be the mom she needs at this time. Our relationship is strong, and I feel it is important you become part of this family.”

Reyus Lazurai placed her hand on Admin and softly stated, “I know that I will be her mother now. I’ve always wanted to support her and she is so important. Of course, I will take the position as the mother.”

Admin looked at Reyus and said “Eyrie, this may be weird. I think it is time for Reyus Lazurai to become your new mother. Would you accept her to the family?”

Eyrie hesitated but then said “Yes.”

Admin with a positive look towards the two stated “I announce Reyus Lazurai becoming your officially accepted mother of this group.”

The group then boarded the Mobile Command Center to embark on the sad trip to Arcvon. They had finished their battle and were carrying the weight and duties of the war.

Before embarking, the Mobile Command Center started to create sounds, bringing back memories towards Euyrie. Both Reyus and Admin took turns, bringing comfort and love to her.

Tundra and Mirai look at peace, searching the place for possible attacks to the center and focusing on the commitment.

The Mobile Command Center neared its destination to Arcvon, seeing everything fade into the colors of melancholy. The cities were once vibrant, but quietness and sadness was in the air.

Admin knew that going here wasn’t going to be easy. There was going to be a challenge of taking Eyrie’s parents to their burial, and there were also political and social issues going on in Arcvon. They were determined to honor their dead while going through conflict and grief. With the addition of their new mother, they knew that they were going to get through this difficult time.

The Arcvon journey was not of happiness and celebration, but a pilgrimage to honor the dead. It was a grief to the loss of family, torn apart by a war.
