Chapter 11
My NPC Elf princess wife took me into the game and gave me a harem.
Walking toward the cave Inoue checked the quest once more.
"So it's just some goblins that stole some treasure?"
Shaking his head at Yuna's question, he handed her the quest card.
"Kobolds. They stole some cows from a local farm. All we gotta do is kill the kobolds and return the cows. I know it's simple but with our low levels it's all we can take for now."
Looking at the card from over her shoulder, Philomena hummed while Yozora pointed at it.
"For such a simple low level quest the reward seems quite substantial. Is that normal?"
Looking into the cave, Inoue shook his head.
"Not really? These cows must be important to the farmer, or made of gold. Either way. I'm not going to complain."
Stepping next to him, Yuna checked her quiver as Philomena and Yozora talked excitedly about the reward.
"Ready, Inoue?"
Taking his sword in hand, he nodded.
"Stay behind me and try not to make too much noise. Kobolds can see in the dark so we're already at a disadvantage. Let's try and take them by surprise."
Entering the cave first, he took point, keeping a watchful eye on the surroundings as the others followed with Philomena taking up the rear.
Hearing noise, he rose his hand for them to stop and stay quiet.
Looking around the corner into a larger cavern, he saw five Kobolds who were dancing around a fire.
"I don't see the cows but I see some of them."
Glancing further into the cave, Yozora squinted.
"I think I hear mooing further inside. I guess since my ears are bigger I have better hearing."
"Let's get to the cows first before we alert them. If not, they might startle and hurt the cows."
Nodding, the others followed, sneaking past the opening and deeper into the cave.
Pressing tightly to his side, Yozora's ears began to twitch, flick and rotate, reacting to every small sound.
"Up here on the left. I hear three cows and a bunch of voices all talking at once."
Nodding, Inoue pressed agaisnt the cave wall, just outside of the smaller cavern.
"Alright. Yuna, take point and Philomena, stay out here with her. You come with me Yozora. You can handle the cows while I deal with the Kobolds
Nodding at the plan, the three girls took their positions.
Rushing into the cavern, he swung his sword, hitting a Kobold and startling the other four.
Using her fire magic, Yozora shot a powerful wave at the Kobolds, scaring them as she ran toward the cows while Yuna fired some arrows at the Kobolds that attempted to chase her.
Slashing at a Kobold, he killed one as two more charged at him.
"Darling! The ones from the larger chamber are coming!"
Hearing Philomena's yell, turned his head as Yuna shot arrows into the two remaining Kobold's.
Running out to them, he looked into the cave, hearing the sounds of approaching Kobolds.
"Philomena, go help Yozora with the coes. Yuna, cover me."
Running toward the Kobolds, he smirked. Feeling alive in the thrill of his new adventurous life. Far more then he ever did before as three arrows zipped past him just as he jumped and slashed downward at a Kobold.
Slaying the Kobolds, he and Yuna shared a high-five as Philomena and Yozora walked out of the cavern.
"Inoue, it seems that I can talk to animals."
Turning, he saw the cows following them out.
"You can talk to animals? Like they just understand you, or can you understand them too?"
Smiling, she pet one of the cows.
"Both ways. But only when I touch them. Maybe it's a magical link on acount of me being a Kitsune now?"
Shrugging his shoulders, he sheathed his sword as the cow that she was petting mooed.
"Is that so? Interesting."
"What is interesting? What did it say?"
Hearing the cow moo again, they waited as Yozora nodded and hummed.
"She says that the Kobolds have treasure hoarded past a hidden wall off of the large central cavern. They saw it when the Kobolds led them inside."
Hearing the mention of treasure, Yuna and Philomena's eyes widened and they started running back toward the central chamber.
"Treasure! Awesome. This quest just keeps getting better."
As Yuna cheered, her wings flapped and her tail fli led happily as they both turned the corner.
"The cows didn't mention anything about traps did they?"
Touching their heads again, Yozora shook hers.
"They're not sure. They only saw the room in passing after all."
Nodding, Inoue scratched his chin.
"Guess we should follow them just in case. Let's bring the cows too. Just in case there are more kobolds hidden somewhere."
Rubbing their sides, Yozora smiled.
"They said for you to lead the way. Also, they think you're cute."
Blushing slightly as he lead them toward the central chamber, he cleared his throat.
"Thanks..."
With the simple reply, the cows mooed and Yozora laughed at whatever it was they said as the sound of Yuna and Philomena's excited searching grew louder.
