Chapter 18:

The Slayer Queen and the High School Senior

From High School Senior - To Fantasy Card Game Slayer

"It - it was just a dream.....a nightmare."

Kimi said as she sat up in her bed in a cold sweat, having used her new powers of will to close her eyes and essentially teleport back to Sapporo, where she then snuck back into her condo while her parents were asleep, and once she had finished psychically speaking with Akio in his human form. Her short skirt school uniform and all of its components lay neatly folded on her small desk chair nearby. Kimi then looked around her room then, taking a breath. She'd had a successive-level dream, which were actually memories, of the battles that she'd fought in the War of the Realm - with the parts that awoke her in such a state of fear and anxiety being losing Kana and the sheer adrenaline she'd felt during those battles against Minato and Riku, though arguably the whole time being there too, to an extent.

As Kimi got out of bed in her cut off t shirt, which was white with an anime production company's logo on its center, as well as black sweatpants, she couldn't help but feel a sense of unease amid the silence and the stillness, as well as knowing that she'd be going between the two worlds - between her "normal" reality her in Japan, on Earth, and the Primordial Elemental Elder Realm. Kimi then took a deep breath, trying to steel herself to face that she was also now in charge of the fates of thousands who she'd have to organize to enact the next War of the Realm - but when?

"Akio, what did you mean that because of the trajectory humanity was on - that my fate would come much more quickly than one thousand years? What did you mean?"

Kimi asked herself as she looked out at the colorful neon lights of downtown Sapporo at night, the sights of the city amid the wilderness in the distance, she couldn't help but wonder if she could do this? Kimi knew that she'd only won the War of the Realm with the magical essence that Kana had imparted onto and into her before becoming a flash of light, and because she couldn't let Minato and his callous arrogance and Riku with his evil wickedness win and thus have the greatly increased power that she now possessed. Yet, this power was like a curse - not only being chained to two worlds, but also needing to greatly disrupt the lives of thousands by transporting them to the Primordial Elemental Elder Realm to take part in the War of the Realm via her mass-activating the enchanted nature of Sorcerers and Slayers cards! Even if their and other concerned individuals' memories were wiped if they didn't win - it didn't sit well with Kimi, to command power for the purpose of wielding power in the name of a vague tradition as understood by wingless dragons who could take on a human form.

"Kana, I'll find you - so that we can be together. And together - let's end the Primordial Elemental Elder Realm, once and for all - in a War of the Realm to end them all!"

Kimi said to herself as she placed her right hand on her bedroom window, as the sentiment of ultimate defiance came over her when she considered the fate of Kana, and all of those who had been transported to that other world as Common Folk - simply for taking part in having a tremendous interest in fantasy card games and thematically related cosplay. Kimi's words to herself weighed on her as she stood there, while it began to rain outside, raindrops hitting her window in quick, almost rhythmic succession. She considered it to be a beautiful sight, while also reminding her of all the tears she had shed in that other world only days prior. She may've begrudgingly accepted her fate not long before, but Kimi couldn't accept the role that Akira had so dutifully, even mercilessly, carried out. Even if Akio and Haruto in particular, had shown her kindness and even mentorship, Kimi couldn't bring herself to be their puppet - to be their Slayer Queen.

"I will be their downfall."

Kimi said to herself as she crawled back into bed, her hands trembling slightly at the weight of her words. She'd spoken those words of conviction with the same mustered up courage that she'd used countless times during the War of the Realm - the weight of trauma from combat in that other world weighed on her dearly as she drifted back to sleep. Kimi knew that she'd go to school and be with her family during the day, and then go to the Primordial Elder Elemental Elder Realm at night - biding her time until she could break the cycle of fantasy violence that connected these two worlds.
