“I’ll take her in exchange for Liek.”
I couldn’t make any sense in what he said. He was willing to let Liek go but for a price. The price he mentioned can even be considered extremely expensive. He was going to take another girl in place of her. And I was the one to bring the girl to him.
In normal circumstances, if that had been just a normal job or a quest designated specifically for me, I would have shouted “Are you kidding me!?” at him then barge out of his house. But if I were to do that in this case, I would only make Liek suffer because of I angered him.
Long story short. What Modnoc wanted in exchange of Liek was a very popular girl every noble wants. To make matters worse, the girl belongs to a noble of higher ranking than him. That means I have to steal her from him.
It couldn’t get any worse than that. Or at least it shouldn’t. the girl he mentioned was………….
As he described her “An elf. Long white hair. Milk toned skin. Tall and slender. Elegant but can be wild. And the most beautiful girl you cant see anywhere.”
I was speechless so to say. I don’t know about the other qualities, but a white haired elf is rare even among elves. He said it himself that the girl is the granddaughter of the elven king before the country was merged.
The thing about nobility was news to my ears. But all those other qualities fit a certain mysterious person I’ve known for a while. Erla.
He didn’t mention her name. Just that “She’s now under a certain noble.” by under, he couldn’t have meant under him as a slave right?
Why does he want her when she already has a master? And how does he plan on hiding her after I abduct her? That is assuming I would do that. But I cant do something like that.
It was all a mess to me. I couldn’t make clear to myself whether the girl he meant was Erla or not. I even wanted to ask him questions about her but figured I was going to get his hopes up. He might think I was actually going forward with his deal.
That was the only condition he gave for letting Liek. I asked if we could make another deal but he smiled saying “NO.”
He even went as far as saying “I’m quite the reasonable man aren’t I?”
I asked for time when I left his house. The time I asked for was meaningless. I wouldn’t do it even if he gave me all the time in the world. “I’ll think about it and come back to you.” was what I told him.
Things ought to work themselves out with time.
The whole reason Modnoc came up with this crazy idea was because he knew who I was. He was there when I fought those heroes in front of the king. He knew about me before hand. Liek reported to him that she met with me on that night because he was the one who gave her the permission to do so. She started acting weird shortly after that so he knew I was the one responsible for it. Then when he saw me defeat the heroes, he was finally convinced I was up to the task.
But still, if the girl he described is really Erla, then what a sad development this has become. She did say she was a slave but I didn’t believe her. What’s more; to think that she’s the granddaughter of the elves former king. How on earth did they make her fall so low?
I was already curious about her to begin with. But hearing all that piqued my curiosity level. I wanted to meet her and verify everything.
Modnoc told me that all the nobles would give everything to have her. Attempts to kidnap her from the sacred land are without numbers. She’s only safe because her master is a powerful man.
My head was processing a lot of things. A lot of things indeed. Like how lively my house has become. I hear arguments all the time when the girls are together.
Leila didn’t join their quarrels in the beginning but now she’s a boss too. Maybe she was still feeling a little scared about what will happen if something goes wrong or that noble bastard comes for her again. She was just worrying for no reason at all. That man owes me a lot for saving his skin back then. Who knows what they king would have done to him if I hadn’t given him that stone?
As for Liek, she was still depressed when I returned from my meeting with Modnoc. I told her that nothing is going to happen to her and that she shouldn’t worry about it.
He may not have made it obvious, but I know that Modnoc isn’t stupid enough to make enemies with me. My relationship with him so far has been a good one. He wouldn’t have anything to gain by fighting me even if I did take something from him. He was just talking like a business man.
Seeing how I fought the heroes, he definitely knows that he cant force me to do what he wants. Nothing will happen even if I don’t give Liek back. Not that I plan on giving her back when she doesn’t want to.
She became energetic when I said that to her and started picking fights with the girls as well. She always makes them angry by showing off her natural beauty and sexy body.
I know Erla is absurdly beautiful, but if what he wants is a servant he can bang, then isn’t Liek the best choice? Maybe he likes beauty over sexiness. Not that it matters to me.
Everything was normal and just how it’s supposed to be for a week after that. I spent most of my time with Palmeerea without going to the dungeon. And when I’m home, the girls all try to get my attention. It was very lively and fun.
That is until I had a nightmare about Erla.
I saw her covered in blood in my hands at that slave house she showed me. I don’t know when I took my demon sword with me to the slave house after waking up from that nightmare.
