Chapter 82:

THE THRONE AT THE END OF THE WORLD

Lover Online Volume 1 & 2

In the castle's prison dungeon, the battle raged. Kaelus, the Jailer, was a wall of steel and chains. His attacks were slow, but each blow from his spiked flail was devastating, forcing Ikel and Mitsu into a constant dance of dodges.

— We can't go on like this, it's wearing him down! — Ikel shouted, watching Lyra's light barrier flicker inside her cell, absorbing the corrupted energy from the environment.

And then, he saw her. A sly smile came across his face.— I've got one. Ikel, I need you to make him mad! Make him chase you to the cell wall! —

— That's the best plan you ever had! — Ikel roared, happy to have an excuse for direct violence.
Ikel lunged, a whirlwind of insults and fists of fire. Kaelus, enraged by his audacity, pursued him. Mitsu, from the flank, harassed him with precise attacks, guiding him, forcing him to position himself right in front of Lyra's cell. — Now, Ikel! With everything you've got! — shouted Mitsu.

Kaelus raised his chain shield to block Ikel's impending attack. It was a trap. The attack did not come from Ikel. It came from Mitsu, who threw his sword with full force, not at Kaelus, but at his shield.

The impact was brutal. Kaelus, focused on Ikel, was knocked off balance. His shield, pushed by the force of Mitsu's blow, crashed backward against the bars of Lyra's cell, shattering them. Kaelus himself had damaged the grating.

Lyra emerged from the broken prison, her face as expressionless as ever. — My analysis indicated a 34% chance of success for that plan. I'm glad it worked — she said, his hands glowing with healing energy. — Now, if you'll excuse me. —

He joined the battle. With Lyra healing every wound they received and boosting their attacks, the fight became a war of attrition. Kaelus was strong, but the three of them together, a tank, an assassin and a healer, were a perfect unit. In the end, cornered and with no prisoners to feed on, the Jailer fell.

Far from there, in the heart of the army of the Void...

One last legendary battle was being fought. Aegis, the Immovable Wall, was resisting the attacks of hundreds of elite creatures, his body an unconquerable fortress. Behind him, the Sage of the Veil wove a spell of impossible complexity.

In front of them, Abaddon, the Final Herald and a legion of heavy-armored knights, stood in front of them.

— It's no use, old man, you can't stem the tide! — Abaddon roared.

The Sage smiled. — I am not trying to stop it. I am trying to purify the source. —

With a final shout, he completed his spell. A pillar of pure white light descended from the broken sky, not upon the army, but upon the castle itself, causing a chain reaction that disintegrated half the horde . They emerged victorious, securing the way for those coming behind, fulfilling Seraphina's last will.

The corridors of the castle were silent. The survivors of each battle, with the weight of their losses and their victories, finally reached the throne room. Asimil and Luce. A badly wounded Ikel and Mitsu, but with a free Lyra at their side. An exhausted Mio. Yumi and a heartbroken Kenji. They regrouped in front of a colossal door made of bone and darkness.

They opened the door.

There, in a room so vast that it seemed to contain a night sky, they encountered an imposing figure seated on a throne carved from a single block of obsidian. He wore black armor that covered his entire body. Through the few spaces there was only absolute darkness, as if its interior was a void.

The mere fact that he rose from the throne unleashed such immense pressure that everyone fell to their knees, struggling to breathe.

He walked towards them fearlessly, the sound of his boots the only one in the universe. He raised his sword, a blade of pure darkness, with a single hand and, with a speed that belied his size, lunged to embed it in Asimil.

But Luce, with a shout, pushed it out of the way. The sword slammed into the ground, cracking the obsidian as if it were glass.

— NOW! — roared Ikel.

The team unleashed everything they had left. Fire, ice, light, steel, sonic energy... an inferno of power smashed into the final boss.

And he did not move an inch. The dark aura around him absorbed every attack effortlessly.

He raised his head, and from the depths of his helmet, a voice that was a distortion of Asimil's, spoke. — Welcome. I have been waiting for you. —

The final battle had begun.
