Chapter 54:
God Games
Toki disengaged the hug from Ayuri, their faces flushed red at the sudden contact, though they both clearly enjoyed it.
“I broke my own morals to save you. Is that fine?” There was a bit of guilt in his face, but he knew it was the best option in the situation.
Ayuri gave a small smile. “You did it for me because you loved me; don't even think about going back now, idiot.”
“Going back means I don't love you like they said I do, huh?” Toki tried to hit a button towards Ayuri.
Ayuri let out a scoff before poking him in the nose. “Don't you dare go back. Now that we know each other's feelings, let's make it to the end.”
“Well then, let me ask what you see during your sleep, considering you know it all?” Toki asked, filled with curiosity.
She instantly flashed red before turning her gaze. “It was something pleasant; I don't want to go into details, so drop it already.”
He nodded.
“Let's go back to Shina; she should be cleaning things up since they aren't connected.” He walks out of the tent before looking out. Shina was there in a four-versus-one, as she had already gotten rid of two of the original hooded figures.
Shina glances over before letting out a sigh, her body fully letting out before she dashes precisely, hitting all four of the remaining hooded figures, leaving them as just mere absorbed power that just adds to her already impressive score.
Walking towards her, Toki quickly feels a flash of sound go past him. There wasn’t any movement or anything to tell what just happened, but then, turning his gaze towards the side, he noticed a Justice member move like sound itself.
What just happened? There was nothing I could do.
His eyes dart around before seeing the hooded figure frozen in front of the scientist girl, unable to move; despite struggling to their best effort, it wouldn't budge at all. The final tent opens at the same time as Falsity leaves from its confines.
“Justice was forfeited, and it seems her pawn wanted to get a kill before it left,” her voice leaving a proud smirk.
She actually beat that insane goddess at her game?
Toki looks at her as her black peasant dress flutters with each step that she takes towards Ayuri and Toki, her gaze filled with satisfaction at the hooded member being unable to move.
“I see you won your battles too,” she stared at Shina, her power clearly giving off a more intense aura.
Reality itself started to shatter as a pixelated entity started to take shape in front of the member attempting to stab the scientist; it had no eyes or body but just took up space, causing colours themselves to malfunction. Its aura surrounded the hooded figure before deleting him out of existence in a mere moment.
“That was the price of our game; the rest of you are about to die as well.” Falsity glanced over towards the remaining three members from Justice's squad; their absurd power that was beyond even Shina couldn't even be displayed in front of the game master's rules.
The remaining figures stood still as they accepted their fate; they knew this was the price they would have to pay. In their eyes, it was a just cause to die for; they will leave without regrets.
The entity instantly shifts behind the three figures before wrapping around them and instantly deleting their entire existence like the one before. The battlefield now lay silent and still; however, with no bodies in sight, only the haunting of ghosts was possible at this stage of the game.
“Lady Falsity, am I comparable to a deity yet?” Shina walked up to three of them, her expression curious at her current strength, especially after absorbing those Purity members despite their connected magic being displaced slightly.
Falsity looks at her, clearly trying to gauge her power, before speaking, “Currently, you're about half of a new deity; you could soon maybe match Era in terms of raw power. It's not her specifically.”
“I wouldn't consider you one for smarts, however, Falsity.” Era instantly rebelled; she teleported towards them in an instant, a bit annoyed at her attempts to belittle her even straight after battle.
She chuckled softly. “You're right, I possess both of them, something that a deity like you wouldn't ever achieve even if you lived double my lifespan.”
Toki sighed, clearly not amused by the banter between them. It was time, after all, to face their final opponents. The day was still bright, so waiting wouldn't be a good option, considering they weren’t tired.
“Let's go back to the centre camp; we will see who won there,” Toki instantly suggested.
Shina adds her comment; the red circle on her orb was gone now. She knew who was left, and it was better to tell them, “Silas and his team won. I had a contract where this red circle was part of it, and now it's gone.”
Falsity nodded. “They are tough opponents; one can summon guns, like you all saw, while the other is a close-range expert and a puppeteer that we don't know how much they can control, and they also have a wild guard.”
“She means a person who can manipulate time,” Era interrupted.
“Why did you ruin my dramatic reveal? I was planning to get to that.” Falsity and Era banter never stopped; why do deities even decide to do such things? Isn't this mortal-level entertainment?
“Let's go already.” He glanced up at Falsity before she quickly took Ayuris and his hand, her stance preparing to start flying back.
The scientist girl from the back approached them slowly before going towards Era; she was ready, it seems, as well. The last person was Shina; she wasn’t even sweating from this entire fight. It was kind of shocking, considering she had to deal with six members by herself.
After a couple of seconds had passed, they all jumped into the air before ascending above the trees. Their journey backwards would be the same as the one forwards and back; it was all forestry and an eerie silence clouding around them as they realised this was the end of the god games. The final two groups must collide; it was destined from the start.
Ally or enemy, it didn't matter; it was to survive after all.
