Chapter 22:
TOOI
"Hey, wake up. It's breakfast time."
Samuël woke up from his blissful dreams to a familiar voice.
"Yeah, mom." When Samuël was still little, his mother, Wendy, would always wake him up.
He woke up, spread out his blanket, and opened the window. It was as if the village of Tere had been reborn before its destruction: a place filled with chicken, meat, fruit, and other necessities. Living in a simple house, their family could have lived happily forever, until a storm struck the village, forcing everyone to flee.
"Hey, kid, are you awake?"
"Yes, by the way, where are we going?"
"We're going to the beach."
"Yeah, we're going to the beach."
"You'll just worry." Pregnant Wendy and her father (Rünga) want to go to the beach.
"Yeah, this is your first time at the beach, right, Samuel?"
"Hmm..."
They had planned to go to the beach, but a few days later, when Samuel and his family arrived, the mood changed.
"Are you ready, kids?" his father asked his little family.
"Yes, we're ready." Samuel was happy to be traveling with his parents.
"Great, you're happy."
"Come on, everyone, let's go."
The whole family was heading to the car when suddenly...
A strong southwesterly wind began blowing, forcing them to return to their homes.
"Dad, the wind is really strong. Should we cancel our plans to go to the beach for now?" Wendy frantically pleads with Rünga to get inside before it's too late.
"Well, I think the kids would be sad if we had to cancel our trip to the beach," said Rünga, confused by the dangerous situation outside.
Suddenly, a guy of villager asked him to come inside his house...
*Ha... ha... ha...*
"Are you okay, sir?"
"Yes, I'm fine. Everyone, please go home right now. God is going to destroy this entire village!" The resident approached him and tried to take shelter inside the house. This was because the Eternal Gods (Atua Mure Ore) were currently unhappy because one of them had violated their custom, namely, "Hate not your fellow man, and in an instant the clouds which the gods have commanded will all disappear."
"How are we going to hide? We're..."
"What? You've got to be kidding me. God is already angry! Who's breaking our customs?"
They immediately went inside and talked for a while.
"We have to evacuate here. The residents are worried about our God. What should we do?"
"Please stay calm, my love. I'm praying that we can escape the chaos here."
The situation began to become dangerous, the ground began to crack, houses were destroyed, and local residents began pushing each other to survive the disaster. Samuël and his family panicked and rushed to the evacuation center, quickly sprinting to their car to avoid being late for the evacuation center's closing time.
