Chapter 19:
Stalked, Isekaid, Stalked Again
Since Wanda has her sword, we have two martials and two casters. That sounds like a good composition for a party. A Sorcerer, Wizard, and Monk. I think that Wanda is a Fighter. Maybe she’s a bit like a Wizard. Most Wizard can’t do any spells without their spellbooks, but her case seems to be that she can’t do any physical ability without her sword. It’s a bastard sword. Usually in fiction, that has some sort of significance because of its name. I’m not sure if it’ll happen here.
Wanda raises her sword. “I have my sword! I have my bastard! Muhahahaha!”
Salty Ray interrupts her enthusiasm, “Have some breakfast first. We can check them later.”
Wanda takes a bite. “Delicious!”
Timothy takes a bite. “If there’s no alcohol in this world, I wish that I can have some fruit juice or smoothy.”
Salty Ray looks at Wanda’s sword, then, his hands.
“If you want, we can practice that thin’ you have.”
“You can?” asks Wanda.
“My class allows me to have a trainin’ mode. It is active if both sides agree to the trainin’. No one would get hurt but it doesn’t work with magic. You have to disable the bastard’s magic first.”
“Let’s do it!”
“Finish your fish first.”
Timothy holds his bottle. “This is a spell to redirect an elemental magic.”
“Redirect?” I ask. “With full details, what does that mean?”
“If I fire my electric to you, you can make the electric change direction. It cannot be more than 90 degrees.”
“Good in combat. Not so much out of combat. Can I use it with my fire?”
“Only one way to find out.”
After eating, all four of us start our training. Wanda and Salty Ray are engaged in their martial training. Salty Ray keeps sending his floating hands to disrupt Wanda’s center line. She can focus on one target since she can move her sword in one direction. However, since Salty Ray has two hands, she got hit a lot.
Timothy is testing his spells. First, he tries if with his electric. Usually, he can fire his electric to where his hand points to. Now, he can fires it to any direction. However, it doesn’t seem that he can change the trajectory of his electric once he fired it. He can point forward while firing left or right. Good to trick our enemy.
Next, he tries it on his stone walls with his hand.
I’d say that it works, but he can only tilts the area around his hand. It seems that the effect cannot go too far away from his skin.
“I lost my arm once,” I say, “I think I would prefer a spell that doesn’t rely on arm in case it got cut off again.”
“Don’t worry about that.”
Timothy kicks the stone wall. The area he kicked tilts.
“It works on all limbs.”
“Fine. I’ll take the spell.”
A floating sphere floats between us. It is full of words and letters in a language I don’t undersand.
“Touch this and you can take the spell,” says Timothy.
“No hidden details whatsoever?”
“We can’t test your compatibility unless you already have that spell. That’s all.”
“Fine.”
I touch the sphere. The word flows from my arm into my body. It digs deep into my bone marrow, leaving no trace of its existence.
First things first, I have to try it.
I punch the stone wall. Sure enough, the area I punched tilted 90 degrees. Kick. Still works. Headbutt. Works too. It seems that it can work within 10 centimeters of my skin.
Next, my fire.
I activate my Dwarvel’s ability. Then, I try to redirect the fire. Nothing happened.
“I think that the element must move. That’s the best target,” says Timothy.
“Can’t argue with that.”
Next, I try steam. Due to how the steam looks, I can’t tell if it even works.
“Steam sucks,” says Timothy.
“Can’t argue with that.”
My side of the training is done. So does Wanda’s and Salty Ray’s side. It is time for Wanda to test what her magic actually is.
The target is Timothy’s stone wall. Okay. What will the slash do?
She doesn’t slash the stone wall. If anything, she’s touching the handle of her bastard sword while pointing the sword down.
A crack! On the stone wall! More cracks! The stone wall is crumbling! More and more cracks! The stone wall is down!
What kind of magic is this?
“That’s a strange one for a Warlock,” says Timothy.
Wait what?! I thought she’s a Fighter with a limited magic!
“Thanks!” says Wanda. “I’m a Destrader Warlock. If my sword isn’t pointing to anyone, the blade can damage or counter all stationary spells around me.”
“I and Suzanna have to fight far away from you then,” replies Timothy.
“Hihi.”
“Wait,” I say, “did you learn any spell from Timothy?”
Wanda nods to Timothy. Timothy fires electric towards her. With a swing of the sword, the trajectory of the electric change.
“Hihi.”
“Everyone got an upgrade but me,” says Salty Ray.
“We’ll find something for you,” says Timothy.
