Chapter 38:
Stalked, Isekaid, Stalked Again
In its own way, I’ve avenged my biological parents. In a way, I’ve resolved a problem I’ve had since my childhood. In this way, I’ve freed Bread Village from its invaders. My only regret is that I failed to kill the caster of Submissing Freedom before I met Salty Ray, Timothy, and Wanda. We could’ve still remain as party members.
That aside, Nostrades and Nostreidon are still alive. That’s good to know. They helped me to put everyone inside the bunker. It is spacious enough to put thousands of people in here. In fact, it also has its own vertical farm in here. Perfect. We can wait in here in case Tyfobius dropped on top of us. By my estimate, what we have right now is enough to feed thousands of people for several days. If we cultivate the farm, we could survive months if not years.
The bunker itself is not impenetrable. It can theoretically survive a Tyfobius explosion. Theoretically. No one ever tried it—not even the Dwarvel that made it with Fey’s material. There is no other way than to bet on it.
I’m wearing a different suit now. After disabling its tracking, I checked what the empire is doing. They are preparing Tyfobius. They will fire it here. At the same time, every colony was forced to send their military to Bread Village. On average, every colony has 12000 soldiers. That’s just one. Times that by six? We would be dead. This army was intended to make sure that we’re dead after Tyfobius explodes. They will also act as test subjects to see if there’s any unknown effect that Tyfobius would cause to them.
I tried to think if there is any information about Tyfobius that I gathered from Sorcerous Lake. Unfortunately, all I have is it’s effect on Demons and Feys. In both cases, everyone in the blast radius will die. Fey, Demon—dead. The only difference is what kind of plants will grow in each blast zone. I don’t remember each plant, but I do know that it will be native to each world. There is one bet that I can make out of this information. I am betting that Contractuary is actually a native plant of World Number 39. In the first place, Contractuary was made instead of being a native anywhere. So technically, it can be a native on any world it wants to be. That’s wishful thinking, I know.
The wall covers the Bread Village in every direction. That restricts where it will grow. Even with that, it can grow outside of the wall. I’ve seen one before. It can bypass the obsidian’s restriction but it is slow. Without the obsidian, it can spread everywhere. This bet will be about how fast Contractuaries can spread without any restriction from obsidian.
So that’s two bets that I’m taking with Contractuary. One of them must—
—work.
It must be morning. We should start working!
There are 15 of us left. 5 of us will take care of the catatonic Ambrous Knights. They will also take care of the vertical farm. How they’ll do it, I’ll leave it to them. My job will require me to be elsewhere.
The remaining 10 of us will have to destroy the obsidian wall. Based on the information I’ve gathered, two out of six of the colonies will send their troops from the north. We don’t have enough time to obliterate the obsidians to dust. The best we got is to relocate it in one location with the hope that it will incentivize Contractuaries to grow in the other direction. The best place to put them is in the north. That’ll slow down two group of troops. Good enough for us.
With the Lapis Lazarus suit, I can order the obsidian to move, but only to a certain extent. It can move up and down… and that’s it. I can’t tell it to move aside. Even the upward direction is limited. I can only order it to go about 12 meters up. That’s it.
“Why don’t we just put them in the center of the village?” asks Nostrades.
“Yeah! The big Typhoon can destroy it for us,” says Nostreidon.
They actually bring up a good point.
“We can slow down everyone from the north.”
“But that will mean nothing since we can’t kill them all.”
Is there any way I can counter their argument?
“We can transfer them with equal distance.”
“The south wall will take a longer time to transfer to the north.”
I was about to bring that up! It seems that they’ve already solved it.
“If you want to send the obsidian to the center.”
“Raise your hands.”
Seven to two. I’m the undecided one. That settles it. Center it is then.
The obsidian is easy for us to destroy. My cubes can handle them without any fuss. My metallic arms can work too, but they’re don’t the range superiority that my cubes have.
Then comes the issue of how to transfer them. There is nothing that we can use to relocate the obsidians. Ambrous Knights didn’t use any cart in their lives. It’s not that they didn’t want it. It’s just that their carts were destroyed by Feys. They tried to make some but they don’t have any mill to cut the wood. The best they have is a forge.
Wait. They have a forge! I can use that! I’m still a Dwarvel. Even if I never learned anything about making machine, I still have the passive ability to… just know how to make some machine. I should be able to make something. Can I make a car? Let’s start by taking a turret down.
That was easy.
If my understanding is correct… I actually have no idea what’s the turrets were made of. Somehow, I know that I can repurpose this thing. Into what? I have no idea. The passive ability of my Dwarvel is taking over my body. I don’t even know what I’m doing. Why am I breaking the shooting part? Why am I melting the base? Why am I doing anything?
Wait. I can start to see the vision! The wheels! The button! That’s the tipper bed, aka, the part that rise up to let object slide down! Hmm, there’s no fuel. How… I should just trust in my subclass.
It is done! It is a… bicycle attached to a tipper bed. It’s like a lorry but somehow, the front section is a bicycle. What did I just create?!
Never mind that. It looks stupid, but I need to know if it can work.
I take a seat. So far so good. I pedal the bike-truck. It works! HOW?!
I pedal this bike-truck to the nearest wall. I feel embarrassed to show this!
“What is that?” asks Nostrades.
“Can it help us?” asks Nostreidon.
There’s only one way to find out!
The Nostra brothers help me to load some obsidians. Everytime we add more of that mineral, the bike-truck shakes. I’m starting to worry it might goes kaboom.
We got about one meter tall hill of obsidian on the bike-truck. I pedal the bike. It MOVES! My abomination creation MOVES JUST FINE! YES!
I continue pedalling until I reach the middle of the village. I press a button on the handle. The tipper bed actually drops the stones! YES!
I pedal back to the wall. “Anyone wants to try?”
“Me!” says Nostrades.
“Me too!” says Nostreidon.
Oh no. They’re fighting!
“How about this?” I begin my suggestion. “I’ll give this to Nostrades first. I’ll make another one for Nostreidon.”
Nostreidon glares at Nostrades.
“Fine!” says Nostreidon.
Great. Another infighting averted.
I get off the bike-truck. “Try it.”
Nostrades gets on the bike-truck. I give him a crash course on how to use the bike-truck. Needless to say that he’s thrilled to ride it. He pedals the bike-truck while laughing hysterically.
Another ideas pops inside my mind. I don’t know what it is, but it’s something stupid. For this, I’ll need two turrets.
What… what am I even doing?
The front part is still a bike. The back part is still a truck. But this time, it has a content. It has a turret.
I try the bike-turret. The pedalling process is as easy and as smooth as the last one. However, the button on the handle does something different. It shoots the turret at the back of the bike. WHAT?!
“SUPER COOL!” screams Nostreidon.
I can see that Nostrades is jealous of the bike-turret. S-should I ignore that?
Nostreidon shoots the obsidian wall. Everyone else collects the rocks into Nostrades’ bike-truck. The rocks would be transported to the center of the village. The system sounds fine so far.
Wait. Just in case. Let me check something first.
In fiction, peaceful moments like this would be interrupted by random fights. Ambrous Knights? All of them are still far away. The Tyfobius is still being prepared. My stalker is dead. Aurelius keeps Brenuaza trapped in the public consciousness of Sorcerous Lake. The only possible enemy I could have right now are Feys or Nostrazeus. For Nostrazeus, maybe his brothers would be enough to talk him out of fighting. For they Feys, well, we do have the portal. They could appear at anytime.
If you want to come, come right now Feys! Let’s settle this before Tyfobius comes down! Anyone? Fight?
There is no Fey for now. I should continue my work on the wall.
