Chapter 56:
Rockstar Isekai: fighting against Silence
Natsuo stretched his arm and waved two fingers.
“Bring it on.”
He put on his battle playlist in his head, this time with STRENGTH and SPEED. He didn’t need HEALING because he couldn’t get hit even once by Death’s scythe, otherwise he would have died.
Death leapt forward, charging a blow with his scythe.
He expected to kill Natsuo instantly, but the boy parried the attack.
Their scythes crossed, unleashing a wave of energy.
“You thought you could beat me that easily, didn’t you?” Natsuo teased him.
The Vassal summoned two silent monsters behind the boy’s back to attack him.
“Natsuo!”
Olive threw vials to the monsters with acid inside and melted them.
Natsuo smirked. “If you ask for help, I’ll do it too” he said to the Vassal.
He pushed his scythe and shoved the knight back with force.
The Vassal crawled back for a few meters, then twirled his scythe and got into position again.
Natsuo did the same, waiting for his attack.
Death sprinted abruptly toward the boy with his scythe raised.
Natsuo swung his scythe horizontally, aiming for the Vassal’s knees and blocking his advance.
Death was forced to back up.
Natsuo immediately struck a blow from the bottom, followed by a vertical slash from above.
The Vassal dodged both the attacks. When the boy had just finished his attack, he showed an opening and Death took the chance.
He raised his scythe and dropped it on him.
Natsuo parried the blow by a whisker, using his scythe’s blade, and got pushed back by the impact.
That was close. He thought, relieved that he was still alive.
Death gave him no respite and hit the boy’s scythe from the bottom, forcing him to raise his arms and leave the stomach exposed.
Damn! That’s bad! Natsuo thought.
The Vassal launched an attack toward his stomach.
Olive’s eyes widened. She had to intervene, otherwise Natsuo would have died. She immediately summoned an explosive vial and threw it to Death.
The ampoule blew up on the Vassal and interrupted his attack, giving Natsuo the time to back up.
“Thank you, Olive.”
“No problem, I told you I’ve got your back!”
The Vassal recovered immediately and launched an horizontal swing.
Natsuo bent forward and dodged it. He felt the knight’s blade passing over his neck in a cold sweat.
The boy got up and struck a blow to Death’s side.
His scythe hit the knight’s armour and pushed him sideways.
Natsuo spinned on himself and charged another blow, but the Vassal parried it.
The knight shoved the boy back and Natsuo slithered back for a few meters.
They both stayed still for a few moments, then sprinted toward each other.
Death raised his scythe, but Natsuo crawled on the ground, arriving at the knight’s back.
The Vassal executed a circular swing to hit him.
Natsuo saw the scythe’s blade coming over his direction and jumped to avoid it. He flipped in the air and attacked Death from above.
The Vassal parried the blow with his scythe’s blade, backing up a little.
Natsuo faked an attack from above and the Vassal positioned his weapon to parry it, but the boy slammed his scythe on the ground and leaned on it to kick the knight’s scythe from the bottom.
Death’s weapon flew from his hands.
Natsuo took the chance and charged a blow from above, but the Vassal summoned a silent monster at the last second and the boy killed it in his place.
“Tch, you play dirty, uh?” Natsuo commented.
Death materialized his scythe again and pointed it to the boy.
Natsuo took a deep breath and got ready to continue the fight. The Vassal was clearly more skilled than him: avoiding all of his attacks was getting more and more complicated. He had to finish the battle quickly, otherwise he would have lost for sure.
He swung his scythe and unleashed a blast of sound waves toward the Vassal.
Death dodged them all.
Natsuo started running in a circle around him and launched sound waves continuously.
He couldn’t let the Vassal get close to him, it was safer to attack him from a distance.
Death avoided all the sound waves that Natsuo threw against him, but didn’t have the time to counterattack.
While he was busy dodging, Natsuo sprinted abruptly toward him and struck a blow on his waist.
The hit pushed the Vassal to the wall of a flower store and the impact destroyed everything.
Death instantly got up with some flowers still attached to his cloak.
Natsuo held a laugh.
“Cute new look” he commented.
Death turned to his cloak, confused, and, a few moments later, all the flowers died.
Natsuo launched another sound wave against the Vassal, who dodged it.
Death leapt forward and executed an horizontal slash toward the boy.
At the right timing, Natsuo jumped on his enemy’s scythe and took a run on it. Then, he jumped at the Vassal’s back and unleashed a sound wave.
The vibration hit the knight’s back, cut his cloak and destroyed his armour.
Natsuo landed on the ground and instantly sprinted toward the Vassal, striking a blow on his exposed back.
The sound of the D string of the electric guitar resounded clear in the air, but Death didn’t lose anything, nor blood, nor any other sort of liquid. He resembled a ghost more than a living being.
Natsuo launched a series of fast attacks and further destroyed his armour, stunning him with the strings’ sounds when he wounded him.
The Vassal fell on his knees and Natsuo stood in front of him.
“We aren’t in the best shape, aren’t we?” he teased him.
Death instantly got up and sprinted toward him.
He struck a blow and Natsuo parried it, but the Vassal had calculated everything.
He slid his scythe over Natsuo’s and pushed the boy on the ground with an arm.
Without even realising it, Natsuo was laying on the street with the Vassal’s scythe pointed directly to his chest.
The situation was extremely bad.
