Chapter 24:
The wrong way to use magic in another world.
Once again, I'm in front of the wooden cabin. It seems to be night time in this place. It's quite dark.
I can't be dreaming; I was outside, talking to the girls. And now I'm here...
What happened?
The door of the cabin is closed this time.
I can see that the door is slowly opening.
Three people, wearing black robes and red masks, come out of the wooden cabin.
They stand in front of it.
And I hear three different distorted voices at the same time.
static noise column static noise if she dies, everyone dies static noise
The dream abruptly ended.
I suddenly woke up. I was on the ground, and my head was on Astra's lap.
A massive headache and dizziness were still affecting me.
Faylinn- Leooo, are you awake!?
Leonel- uhh, I think I'm awake... I said in a zombie-like voice.
Astra- You suddenly fell unconscious.
I tried to stand up, even though I was still a little dizzy.
Leonel- I had that dream again, or was it a vision? I don't know anymore...
Faylinn- What did you see?
Leonel- It was three masked people this time. They said "column" and "if she dies, everyone dies".
Astra- Based on what you told us about your dreams, it seems obvious you are expected to save someone, specifically a female. And if she dies, "everyone" dies. I wonder if this is connected to the bald person and the inverse summoning ritual... If that's the case, the female person that needs to be saved must be one of your classmates.
Leonel- This time... they said "column"... that's Maria's magic skill. Maria's ability is connected to all of us and is constantly transferring us a bit of her mana. "Column"... if a column goes down, a building goes down. I knew all of our magic skills were horrible, but I thought that nothing could be worse than Gabriela's "healing" magic. I was wrong. Maria's "column" is by far the worst one; if she dies, we all die...
Astra- Then these prophetic dreams are warning you that Maria might be the next target. You need to meet her and tell her everything about this bald person, and you must also tell her about her ability.
Faylinn- Then shouldn't we get moving now? We can't waste time!
Leonel- That's true, but I'm still dizzy. Faylinn, you are in charge of the land dragon.
Faylinn- Don't worry, just tell me where we need to go and I'll take you there!
Astra- This time we should actually buy a land dragon instead of renting one.
Faylinn- We still have a lot of leftover money from when Leo sold that weird keychain to the alchemist. It should be possible to buy a land dragon!
Leonel- Then we must hurry.
Astra- Leo, I apologize in advance.
Astra grabbed me and carried me in her arms again. I would have complained about it if I wasn't still dizzy.
Faylinn- Ok, let's goooo!
Faylinn and Astra ran at full speed toward the little place next to the gate where the rental dragons are located.
Faylinn- Old man! I need to BUY a land dragon, how much do you want?
The old man in charge of the land dragons was surprised at the bizarre scene: a little girl trying to buy a land dragon and another girl carrying a guy in her arms.
Old man- Uhm, well, it would be at least 450 gold coins for the youngest land dragon, but do you even have that kind of money?
Astra- We actually do have that kind of money.
We barely had enough though. I guess luck was on our side this time as we happened to have 465 gold coins.
Old man- If you really have the mo--
Faylinn- Shut up and take my money!
Faylinn literally smashed the pouch full of gold coins into the old man's chest and then jumped onto the land dragon.
Not the most normal thing to do, but we had no time to waste.
Faylinn- Astra, don't let go of Leo while we are riding the land dragon!
Astra- Oh, don't worry. This is the perfect excuse to hold him close to me. Hehe. Astra's cute giggle seemed out of place considering the situation we were in.
Faylinn- Don't you dare try anything weird, Astra, I will be watching you!
We got on the land dragon, or, to be more specific, Astra got on the land dragon while still carrying me in her arms, and Faylinn took the reins.
Faylinn- Leo, we are heading west, right?
Leonel- Yes, we should go past the town to the west, and we will eventually reach a town or city that has a church of mother nature. That's where we should find Maria.
Faylinn- Ok, we are going full speed. We should be there in no time!
I had to save Maria.
I couldn't save Marcus, but, this time, failure was not an option; if Maria died, we all died.
We quickly started our travel to the west.
We were heading toward the town where my classmates and I met Miss Iria not long ago, but this time, things would be a bit different in town.
We could see a lot of people and a few guards gathered just outside of town.
Something must have happened...
