Chapter 32:

Chapter 32: Come Down To My Level! Get Over Here!

Manifest Merge: Fused With A Goddess

They had successfully taken out half the enemies in the room. The battle was still far from over though. Harmony had to once again sacrifice her turn to restore her HP. At this point she felt like she got reduced to the unfavorable stereotypes of being a healer, but in this case only for herself.

The remaining golems took their turns and pelted her with rock spikes once again. She managed to only get grazed by both of them, and reduced her HP down by about a quarter. This was debatably a better development.

With a smaller amount of damage this round, she might be able to actually do something other than using a potion for her next turn. They heard the voice of the dungeon echoing through the area, “Fe…! For…!”

They all looked around wildly and saw Arret. She was sitting in the doorway with her legs crossed, and a drink in her hand. Something about the sight of her made it seem like she was a fan watching a sport in action.

She did a taunting greeting gesture to Harmony’s party, and gave a little cheer for the golems to keep fighting. She giggled to herself out of amusement from her own actions. Harmony called out to her, “Hey, what do you have against me?! Why do you keep sending all these monsters to focus only on me?!”

Arret gave her a mischievous grin. “Let's put it this way, in the eyes of the dungeon you are the real enemy! There is no greater evil here than you! After all, it wouldn't be here, if it wasn't for you!”

She gave her a look of confusion. “What is that supposed to mean?!”

Vault called out to Harmony, “Hurry and take your turn, we don't have much time left!”

She noticed that the turn timer bar had dropped a little bit for herself. While she was distracted shouting at their spectator, her teammates had already taken their turns. They had continued trying to wear away the next column that was closest to them.

The plan was of course obvious and simple. Knock one column over into the other like dominoes, in order to take away their vantage point, and deal as much damage as possible. What they didn't expect, happened after Harmony used her Extract skill on the column.

It began teetering just like before, but this time the golem shifted its entire weight onto one end. It stomped in place and caused the column to fall forward. Instead of falling back into the other column holding its ally behind it, the column fell forward and rained down on Harmony's party. They all let out a scream as the rocks and the rock creature plummeted towards them.

“Scatter!” Vault, Eunice and Harmony screamed out. They all tried to take evasive maneuvers, but the restrictions of the system prevented them from moving their bodies the way they wanted to. The golem completely sacrificed its life, in order to deal a massive amount of damage to them in the form of this attack.

When it came to dodging, it was only possible with limited movements, and within a small window of time when being attacked. It was very difficult in order to match this properly and most of the time it was done by luck. Any sooner and the best one could for was getting grazed.

None of them were lucky this time. They all received the full force of the damage, and we're reduced to only a few points of HP left for all of them. Fear, and panic shot throughout their bodies.

All of them only needed one last hit, before being taken out completely. And there was still one last golem that hadn't taken its turn yet. They could hear their spectator roaring with excited laughter. “I am at the edge of my seat! How do you plan to get out of this one?!”

At the start of the next golem's turn, Harmony noticed that her HP meter had increased a little bit. She was surprised for a moment, but suddenly remembered that some of the potions that they had, contained post-use regenerative effects. Meaning, that after it was used, she would still continue to regenerate a small amount of HP for a few turns.

She heard the sound of their spectator click her tongue in frustration, when she noticed her getting healed. The last golem threw a rock spike in her direction, but she managed to only get grazed by it. She collapsed upon her stomach while the system notification kept flashing one point of HP left for her.

Somehow, by some miracle, she had survived for another turn. Vault opened his inventory at the start of his new turn, and took a potion to heal himself. One would think that the bat and the wolf are completely doomed, unless they were able to use potions like a person.

They had actually made a surprising discovery while living with them. The wolf opened its inventory, and a doggy bowl that Vault had crafted appeared in front of it. It was full of healing potion liquid. It lapped it up in its mouth, and restored its hp.

Arret made a bewildered look. “Did your mutt just open its inventory?! I swear if the bat can also do the same thing…!”

A necklace appeared around the bat’s neck with a potion tied to it. She clamped down on the potion dangling around her neck and tipped her head back in order to drink it. Harmony’s party could hear the sound of their spectator swearing in frustration in the background. They could tell she was really annoyed by their resilience.

Harmony also used her turn to heal herself, like she usually did. Even though this time they had all taken damage, that didn't mean that she still wasn't being singled out. That attack was intended to deal a massive amount of damage, and it seemed more like her teammates were just caught in the crossfire.

Her thought process was further confirmed, when the golem’s turn began again. Just like before, it threw rock spikes down at her. She took damage, but not as much as before since it was all alone now.

Vault’s turn began, and he used his crafting skill to damage the column. The wolf and the bat also struck it in the same spot. Meanwhile, Harmony was distracted by their spectator’s presence. She almost didn't notice when the turn timer started for her.

She grit her teeth, and clenched her chakrams. “When this is over I'm coming for you next!”

Arret scoffed at Harmony’s threat. She activated her Extract skill, but this time she used it on one of the rock spikes dangling above the golem. It bashed into the back of its leg and caused it to stumble towards the edge. It started dangling by its fingertips, but the rocks were crumbling a bit under its weight.

Arret gave them an uneasy look while sweating profusely. She quickly got up from her position, bolted out of the room as fast as she could, and went deeper into the dungeon. It was strange, something similar had happened before when they were winning their previous fight.

It's like she wanted to stick around, and watch the action going on, but when they were almost done with the fight, that's when she would bail. Was she a sore loser? Or is it possible that she herself cannot fight? that might be it.

She might only be good at fighting from a distance. That didn't explain why she didn't get a turn during these battles. If she was present, then she would be included in the turn timers. Even if she just showed up at a random point during the battle, the system would warn them about a potential invader joining the fight, just like it did with their animal companions.

They needed answers because none of it was adding up. They weren't going to get them until they finished this fight, and progressed further ahead. The golem’s turn started up, and all it could do was struggle to try to climb back up. It wasted the entire turn timer bar pointlessly flailing about, and failing to get back up to where it was before.

They didn't need to do much this time. All they needed to do was give gravity a little help taking out their enemy. Vault used his crafting ability on the column and their animal companions attacked the same spot. It caused the column to become even more unstable, and as a result the golem could only maintain a few fingers on the edge.

Harmony sheathed her weapons, and pointed her hand at its body. All she needed was a little tug. Under normal circumstances, her Extract skill would not be able to pull such a large and heavy object, like this creature. It was already barely hanging on to the edge, so it would just feel like a little push.

She activated her skill and yanked the golem towards her direction. It was such a weak pull, and yet it was enough to cause it to plummet to its doom straight towards the ground below. It crashed and created a large dust cloud from the impact.

System notifications flashed in front of them. They were all details about the battle they just finished. They had now cleared this room and were ready to move on.
