Chapter 30:
The wrong way to use magic in another world.
With Maria unconscious, I took this chance to go after Alejandro, who had gone missing.
He was probably nearby. He couldn't have gone too far.
Leonel: Xio, did you see where Alejandro went?
Xiomara: No... sorry. But I saw his face, and he seemed to be extremely angry.
Astra: Leo, that young, muscular guy that was with your classmates went in that direction. Astra then pointed with her hand at the blacksmith shop.
It was obvious now. He wanted revenge. But he wasn't going to accomplish anything with a sword and a shield. I had to stop him.
Leonel: Faylinn, you stay here and protect the girls. Astra, you come with me.
Faylinn: Ok, you can count on me!
I ran toward the blacksmith shop. Alejandro was just coming out of the shop. He was holding a rusty short sword in one hand and a small dagger in the other .
He really had no idea what he was doing.
Leonel: Alejandro!!!
He stared at me as if he was ready to kill anyone.
Such foolish behaviour. I knew just how harsh this world was to us, but he probably never had to fight against anyone in this world.
Alejandro: Tell me everything you know about him. I will be the one to strike him down.
Leonel: Calm down, Alejandro. You can't fight him by merely swinging a sword at him.
Alejandro: Give me all the information you have. He is just a human; a single sword slash and he is dead.
Leonel: You are not even going to get the chance to slash him with your rusty sword. He is on a whole different level!
Alejandro: Fine! I'll find him myself.
Leonel: Wait!
Alejandro tried to walk away, but I grabbed his left arm.
Almost instantly, he turned around and tried to attack me with his sword. I was ready to stop it with the arm-guard on my left arm, but Astra stepped in.
She grabbed the blade of his sword and didn't let go.
Alejandro: What are you doing!? Let go! Alejandro was angry.
He was violently shaking and moving his arm while still holding his sword, but Astra wouldn't let go of the blade.
Astra: Don't waste your time. Your physical strength is no match for me. If I don't let go of this sword, then you will have to fight bare-handed, said Astra in a very serious voice.
Alejandro: Let go of it!
Alejandro then tried to attack Astra with his dagger.
Astra: I told you to not waste your time, said Astra as she grabbed his dagger.
Leonel: Calm down and listen. If you can't even overpower a dragongirl, you will have no chance against that bastard from our world. He is more dangerous than you think.
Alejandro: Then what are we supposed to do!!!??? Alejandro was angrily yelling at me as if this was my fault.
Leonel: I came up with a very elaborate plan, but there is a lot of stuff we have to do and everything must be done perfectly, otherwise we will fail.
Alejandro: So, you are saying that even if we do what you want us to do, we might still die!?
Leonel: That's how dangerous our enemy is.
Alejandro: Then why don't you just rush ahead and smash his face with a fireball? You are the only one with a useful magic skill! You can even send your dragongirl friends to fight him; I'm sure they can keep him busy until someone can stab him.
Leonel: That's not going to work.
Astra: Leo is right. Our enemy is a fire magic user. Leo's fire will not do much against him. Also, my physical strength would be of no use against him if he uses his "revolver" or any other tricks he might have.
Leonel: That's right. This guy has weapons from our world, but we don't know what he has or how many he has. We didn't even know he had a revolver until now.
Astra: And that's not all. Today we found out he had a way of summoning the nara, which means we won't be facing just him in combat.
Even Leo has trouble dealing with them. If he summons a bunch of nara, things will just become even more complicated.
Alejandro: Then I will just do things my way. I will just get stronger by hunting monsters until the bastard shows up again. That's better than relying on some complicated plan that has little chance of success.
Alejandro then walked away. Astra allowed him to keep his weapons with him.
Leonel: Wait, Alejandro! This is not a game! You will not become stronger by defeating monsters! You will just expose yourself to unnecessary dangers! There is no such thing as experience points here!
Alejandro: Then I will just get some rare items from them so I can sell them and buy better equipment! Maybe I can get some rare weapons! Alejandro was getting more and more angry.
Astra: Let him do it. We will just follow him for now. There are weak and small earth elementals outside the village. We will let him find out just how weak he is all by himself.
Leonel: Oh, he is going to make the same mistakes I did back then... Well, at least we will be ready to intervene as soon as he gets knocked down.
Astra: Don't worry. I will handle it if things get ugly.
Leonel: Make sure to get ready to cast your regeneration spell. He might end up needing it.
That's when I remembered... I was still not strong enough to defeat those tiny earth elementals...
My dagger would be useless against them. My fire magic was unreliable, my strengthening magic was nowhere near enough to defeat them by punching them , and I couldn't use the few crafted weapons in our backpack just to deal with such a tiny enemy.
I was, undeniably, a weak human.
And Alejandro was about to find out that he was even weaker than me.
